      He did a great job! First time I haven't been utterly depressed watching a cat enclosure vid!
      Cats LOVE tree climbing so if you don't have access to 9ne you can easily make climbing poles from 25mm galvanised threaded piping and flanges insulated by hollow pool noodles and some type of cosmetic covering/fabric. The steel pipings also great for making spiral staircases using the flange to attach each stair/platform.
      You can also but cat poles 'paws cat trees' for $50-$60 on eBay which have a great spring mechanism to keep it firmly centered between floor and ceiling. I like to use these and swap out the platforms.

    I just stumbled across this! Only 3 weeks ago we decided to at cat netting, and wow! I paid for it to be installed and had zippers as door ways added. Best money I have ever spent my cats are safe and our crazy Eclectus parrot is happy also as it's about 6.5 meters by 6.5 meters truly it like an additional room on the house, and bonus not telling kiddos to watch the cats getting out all the time 😊💖

      @@leefeatherstone5036 Why not build it yourself? All you need is some lumber and chicken wire.. you don't need any fancy cat netting or anything. Use 2x4's or 2x2's. It's an extremely simple build that doesn't require very many tools. You could get the big box store to even cut the lumber for you.

    Thanks for the video, I have just got a cat that has become a Houdini. He used a tree to get outside the cat net, I'm going to use the stainless steel wire to elevate the net in the tree, also the hammock made form cat net might help as he thought the larger net was a great place to nap on. It was a bit distressing to see him above it like a trapeze artist.

    I'm so happy you made this video. My cat has been hurt a lot while outside. She almost lost her leg and we had to get one of her eyes removed. She only has a thin layer of skin on her leg which makes it super fragile and she keeps getting wounds when she's outside. It's good to see an Aussie (especially a guy) go all out & build a great enclosure for their cats.
    I found that there's a lot of Aussies that don't like cats & this is the 1st cat enclosure video made by an Aussie that I have seen.
    It saddens me to learn that the Aussies who don't like cats wouldn't devote any time to understand them either.
    Good on ya for leading the way to show people what you would do for your cats because you love, respect & care enough to keep them safe.

    Thank you so much! I've been trying to figure out a way to create a second barrier in my small backyard to safely transport my flighted parrots from the house to their outdoor aviary without a carrier. It'd be nice to sit with them in the yard as well without taking up space in their aviary lol. Alas, the husband did have to get a new zip code so I'd be doing this myself -nothing new, hence the new zip lol- and I'm on my second round of a mere 30 years young 😉, so I'm not about going to go into full construction mode. You did a great job clearly explaining this! I believe this is doable & budget friendly compared to some of the suggestions I considered. While I certainly couldn't leave parrots with a 350 psi bite unattended (we'll just leave that for my furniture and fingers🙄), this would absolutely provide that extra layer of safety. Also, have you had any problems with wild birds or other critters getting tangled in the netting?

    • @dingeldiy

    Great video. How do you know where to screw so that you hit the timber?

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy  2 года назад

      Start with the obvious places. There is always timber on both sides of the windows.
      Then after that it's sometimes guess work. Where I live studs are generally spaced 450mm apart but not always.
      Other methods would include using a magnet to find the screw heads for the screws that hold the cladding on or using a stud finder internally and then transferring those measurements from internal to external using a reference point like a door or window.
      Hope this helps!
