- When you want to keep your cats safe but they want a little bit of fresh air, you need a catio. But how to go about it? Every home is going to be a little bit different. This video walks you through, step by step as I build a "lean to" catio which can easily be customised for any home. Colby and Sequel approve!

I think you did an amazing job. Nice Catio. We decided when our sweet Coroline was able to allow her to go outside. She comes home when she's called. I realize that their are a lot of dangers out there, but watching her chase butterflies in the front yard is worth it.

I had a cyclone kennel in front of my bedroom window with the pet door. I got tired of looking at the kennel through my window. I decided to move the kennel way over and built a cat walk from pet door to large kennel. Then on the other end of the cat walk I built a 7 foot tall upright kennel with the floor and four shelves. I enclosed it with wire then added dump shopped windows around the three exposed sides and added beds for them. They love it. I also lost two elm trees in my yard this year and also saved back two longer trunk pieces. Happy kitties. Yours looks great!

All these comments about it being too small but yet it’s a way for the cats to get outside and get some fresh air. That’s better than no Catio!!
Each person will make a Catio within their budget and/or to the specifications they want. I’m gonna make a small one not everybody has a big area to make a gigantic catio.

Proud of you for tackling the project. This is why it is advisable to have safety glasses when cutting with power tools. Hope your husband is ok... FYI: save backs by raising the work on a work table or higher level than deck itself (ie for tin snipping, making cuts with circular saw). Also, consider making panels first then attaching. Draw first so to get right amount of wood. Creates a stronger structure.
It's perfect. You will get much enjoyment watching them, too.

That is awesome! Typical cat. Sequel loves it when I put him on the shelf entrance but won't jump up on his own. He will stay for hours. Colby is in and out all day. I close it up at night because of coyotes.

Us girl's can do anything when we put our hand to it!....a good job well done, I've got 7 Feline rescued babies & would love a cattery for them as they are indoor cats, but it would only be vandalised in this area..stay safe x
I'm sure Howard was a bit impressed you could do all this. I remember the shoe closet! I also like how he let you do the work and didn't try to take over or tell you what to do. I have a guy like that and I appreciate him so much more for it. There is nothing he can't do si I'm sure my way frustrates him a bit, but if I need help, all I have to do is ask. Great job!

I used one of my winter jumpers and chopped the sleeves off, then stapled the jumper body between two shelves, hey presto our cats had a cosy hammock, they love it. Xx

My sister-in-law bought me protective Sunglasses one year for my birthday. I was wearing them while chipping wood and a chunk hit them at what seemed like 100 mph. I haven't forgotten eye protection since that moment.

Thanks for working so hard and filming this video. I'm building my catio this weekend and without you I think I would have been quite lost. I'm doing it on my own, and I'm very new to building stuff. As of today I have most of the framing done. I will finish that up in the morning and start on the door. It really helped that you explained what you did and why. Other than having to go get more material and having to switch to a new drill bit, things are going well. Thank you thank you!!!
