50 years ago my oldest brother rolled his ‘70 Beetle and smashed in the top. He drove it that way for a year before finding a nice, used body. He, along with me and our others brothers did a complete body swap right on the patio beside our parents house. Happy memories!
Those are the best fitting VW repair panels I’ve ever seen!
Beetle bro, Beetle... love this video,i had around 75 VW Beetle in my life,i know them very well, thumbs up again...
The first car I drove to my work when I was 21 was a vw beetle. This video does bring back memories. Nice video!
German engineering with all those spot welds , they built them well back then. I know we have crumple zones now but old school seems well put together. Very interesting video Brothers thanks.👍
That bug looks like it has been restored before. Excellent condition
Definitely and very well done !
Can’t believe the junked it
Important to have the fender ,weltings and the hood installed prior to welding anything! make sure everything is properly alinged! Good find with the front axle assembly! Super good progress ! That is the kind of car that can be repaired anywhere with basic handtools! No computer, No OBD 2, No canbus, no ECM's.... No Nonsense!
Loving this old school project guys, Thanks! 👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🤘🏻🤘🏻
Nice work 👏 👌 👍. Waiting for the finished product.
Outstanding job Ivan! You have saved this Beatle from being dismembered for it's parts! Well done!
Can’t believe you guys haven’t gotten one of those little air powered belt grinders, they will save you so much time on weld removal!
I agree. But they are so busy that I know they have forgotten look at new tools for work
I see many times those small grinders used on spotwelds. Are they that much better than a good old 4 1/2" grinders ??Just asking...
Bug da Bug time ! Very nice work !
Easy stuff for niko brothers
Love the VW Bug project
Thanks folks for sharing the 1968 VW-B Restoration Update. Amazing job.🤟
That V-dub looks so cool. Back in my day (mid-60's), guys would Jack up the rear end, put Crager mags on the front and rear, and put a tuned single exhaust not them. Although they didn't have much "giddy-up and go", they looked really cool and sounded cool. You have a really neat car, and I love the graphic on the sides.
On my brother's '63, we reversed the wheels to make look agressive.
Did we notice that the wheels had chamfered lug holes ? Nope. But after loosing the 2 back wheels, we knew then ! 🤣
Crazy years !
Don't forget to check the frame head / wheel base. You could use the old beam, if it needs to be a pulled. Keep up the great work...
You've got to check those door gaps and panel alignment with the car on it's wheels.
The thing does a lot of flexing depending on where it's jacked up
You could see a lot of movement in the bottom door hinge when you lifted door - clearly front inner/outer fender provide much of the strength at the bottom of the "A pillar". trick will be to fix new panels with door in the right place to give good gaps, whatever that is.
Little guy is taking shape 😅🤣😂
This is looking GREAT guys. Stay safe.
That left headlight does indeed look large...
The dedication these lads have is awesome.. I'd be tempted to grind that front panel off completely.. But then I get reminded that there is something called professionalism and quality.. Gud on ya lads much respect..
nice your a genius!
very cool.. im doing almost the same repair.. i loved the video
Awesome episode 🤘🏽😊 I enjoyed it a lot 👍🏾
11:40 Yeah. Let's freaking go! This iz me, zoon!😁😁🤓💪💪👍👍

Great job . Still waiting for the end results . I am interested to buy this car. I had it when I was young . . God bless you niko brothers .🙏
Now this is one of the cars you can cut up. such as put a Porsche engine in it. And Porsche suspension. Debbie totally rad man I dig it.

Those stickers on body parts look like they had a journey.
Y’all rule! 🤘🏻
Looking good👍
Once again great video niko bros , any update on the stang would love to see more videos on it. Thanks again
Awesome 👏
Really looking good guy's. Looking forward to seeing it finished. Best of luck with the build.
awesome talent you both have, you seem to work so close together, what a blessing, love the channel
Looking 👍 good
You might consider painting it this color, midnight blue created it would look beautiful.
I say Hy! From Mexicali Baja California Mexico 🇲🇽.
And a frame machine pulling prior to removal would be nice, I guess...
Only if you want the doors to close right
Amazing job; Exelent 💯💥💯💥💯💥👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
Great job . Please review some move video on the Bugs . A number of person do restore them.
The Bug coming along
I was surprised you didn't do a jig pull buy those old cars had soft metal... don't forget to add a fuel pressure regulator as replacement fuel pumps cause idle etc. Problems as they over pressure the carburettor. Will look nice. You guys need to buy a spot weld hole puncher as drilling the holes in new sheet metal I felt for you... hard work.
Once the Beatle is complete you guys should contact Verble's and see if they want to buy their old car back.
Brilliant, so far. Welded and stuck together quite well, not??
Kirby's back
Hi Niko Brothers.
Good job how did the pinch Wells come apart on the doorpost where they spot-welded thanks
What can I say.its a German made car ..looking good
I'd be curious how much of a VW bug you could put together with aftermarket parts. It would be cool to build a brand new bug with a Porche motor would be cool.
But very expensive.
Id say you could just about build a entire bug out of a catalog
Body work is so Hard and requires alot of patience.
I am very proud of you guys. I just had one question. Why would you want to use aftermarket parts on a classic car like that. I realize it is salvaged but giving the car its original parts would be the right thing to do. I also realize parts are hard to find but it's worth finding them. Just a thought. Perhaps it's my inner restoration person coming out...lol
Did you find the replacement sheet metal thinner than the OEM? (Assuming it had German steel on their before the accident).
Probably cheap Chinese stuff. You could see the hood wobbling when Ivan opened it.
@@marcryvon the oem hood wobbles the same.
@@akhtarkh But nut as much. Had 2, 1963 and a 1966...
👍
R y'all going to keep the little better or sail and the truck turned out amazing
Ahhh yeah, bug rebuild.
I need the same side panel to door hinges but can’t seem listed
Ivan you know you have to do a pull before cutting cutting off the damage parts. It's a unibody vehicle
This car came with non-original parts. The rear taillights are from a '61 or older Beetle. The bumpers are also the wrong style (should be the later squared-off style),. The seats should have headrests. Those front seats are from a '67.
I had a 1960 Beetle, brand new , with bumpers and taillights just like that.
In 1967 I put that year's bumpers and taillights on it and painted it VW blue, a new color that year
Also I had a 1968 Beetle in 69 with seats just like those
That’s a non lowered beam you just got there. They sell them new with adjusters like the old one.
It’s easier if you use a spot weld drill bit.
The new fender looks like it’s for a much later version of the car?
The fender is correct. The other parts I commented on are incorrect for a '68. My family went through several in the 60s and 70s.
I know that the Beatle comes in a different version; the original comes with just a tiny metal dashboard, whereas the other one, the dashboard, has plastic or leather on it, and it is made from Brazil.
Those were the Super Beetles. Still made in Germany.
yeah
Not an expert, but it's not called a subframe. It's the front axle beam. It holds the torsion leaves. This is a later style so you'll have ball joints instead of kingpins. A popular thing is to narrow it if you lower the setup, so tires can still turn.
looks like the new headlight is bigger
You can see why these cars came originally with 45 to 50hp engines. They are super lightweight and there is not a lot of metal protecting your legs from cars hitting the car in the side. The gas tank in the front is also a problem. More VWs blew up from frontal collisions than Pintos ever did from being rear ended.
Remember that Ferdinand Porsche designed the car in the late thirties as an economical solution for citizens who could not afford other cars thus it's name, VolksWagen - People's Car.
Safety regulations did not existed at the time.
You guys need a muscle car big block for rebuild that would be awesome
Not Bad For Beetle Virgins !
9th!!!!!!!
💯💯🔥🔥✌️😄👍
They have to be one of the cars with the most available parts. Mexico, Columbia. You 2 make it sound like their rare. Come on, millions made, hundreds of thousands still around.
Hello, where did you get the Sheetmetal from?
Anybody know what was the purpose of that punched out circle on the lower front panel?
Where you a fan of the love Bug films Herbie 53 xx

Something's off with the68.The bumper looks like a pre 67.Also the rear tail lights appear to be older than that.

Why didn´t you renew de sparetire compartment bottom, its rust. I had two beetles in early days.
What’s the music at 0:50?
Almost forgot it's in New York City.
Please paint it a nice Pearl white
Beetle
The headlight bucket on your new fender looks too big.
Going to set “flushly”. Now you guys are starting to sound like the Goonzquad boys. Keep up the good content!
Beatle= John Paul George and Ringo. Beetle= small Volkswagen car.
That bug has a black eye
