High gas prices with high food prices with expensive living expenses with the massive amount of air Jordan 1’s that Nike has pumped out has made many Sneaker heads like myself to take a step away from snagging pairs. Times are tough right now
This video was done well, a dope run down. I feel the 1 definitely isn't dead, but currently on a plateau. I remember growing up here in New Orleans, we were really into Reebok and then gradually got into J's after the "Flu Game"; those were my very first pair of J, I was 11. But now, here at least, there's an uptick of people wearing 1s, 4s, and 6s. But it's like, for real sneakerheads we just buy what calls to us, while it seems people try and push trends that don't really be speaking to people...sometimes...I hope that made sense 😅 right now, my favorite 1 is the OG Pollen. I've been wearing those since last year, they stay in rotation
To the point where 4s are basically consider the 1s now in terms of value they’re going for much more than most jordan 1s . Last Jordan 1 to do money were hyper royals , patent bred that are like around $300 or $270 on gs
As someone who works in luxury fashion (and has friends all over the place): this decline has nothing to do with world events. The silhouette is just tired from having so many colorways released with no interval. Dunks are next, which is why Nike is trying to big up the Blazer, AJII & Air Force, among some other things, as the popularity of the dunk and AJ1 begins to subside. People are still buying $20,000 Birkins and Rolex is having a field day. It’s not a lack of disposable income, that’s for sure.
I think it’s all of those mentioned things. You are correct about disposable income, people will cop what they want price be damned. The issue at hand is availability. People aren’t trying to work that hard to cop a shoe and then ultimately strike out because of bots and back-dooring. Only to rinse and repeat the same cycle the following week. And the week after that, and so on. The whole process of copping kicks these days is inconvenient and exhausting. If you are paying top dollar or more, inconvenience and exhaustion are insult to injury. Imagine feeling lucky to spend $200 on a pair of damn shoes. This is where we are.
Although I agree that fashion is a cycle (and J1s are currently out of that cycle). Your take seems a bit disconnected from reality😂 no hate I just think it’s funny. The people who are buying Rolex’s and birkins are ALWAYS gonna have disposable income because they are simply in a much higher wealth bracket. Yes the Jordan 1 may be stale but I still absolutely love them and I just can’t justify getting them right now because I’m spending like $100 a week on gas. If it wasn’t for that then I would be getting a lot of the newer J1s. I’m actually trying to save a couple pennies here and there to get the new heritage J1s that released a week or two ago. So yeah they are declining naturally but to say that the world events have no effect is a bit out there
Honestly, I think it has a lot to do with resell. The amount of AJ OG 1 models they've pumped out over the past 2 years have tanked resell for a lot of resell value, so the sneaker, in turn, loses hype. People have moved on to 85s for this reason (less cws and less stock). Eventually, AJ 1s will come back because they are timeless but they definitely have been trending downward recently. Ironically, the same thing happened with Dunks a few years ago (you could get Dunks in FSRs for like $50 at the Nike outlets) and the same with AJ 4s (which seem to be trending heavily upward nowadays).
1's are timeless. They'll never go out of style and demand will always be steady. Agree that Nike saturated the market and made them less special. I'd rather have quality of quantity. Some of the 1's coming out are cheaply made with QC problems. 3's and 6's are more interesting to me, and the AMM 2's is the drop I've been looking forward to the most this year.
I read a leaked article talking about how this new chicago jordan 1 coming out in October is supposed to be almost an exact remake of the original, even the really good leather quality, Idk how TRUE that really is but that would be amazing if they remade them as good as the real 85s. Anyone know more about that, or also read that? just curious
You Jordan 1 guys are seriously asleep at the wheel. You fall for a new version of the bred 1's every single year that goes by. Nobody likes J 1's because high tops aren't really in anymore. J1 has to compete with dunks, especially dunk lows. It definitely will never be over for Jordan, even the one....but that's just because you guys fall for the okie doke every single time. Hello bro, you know... I was trying to find some videos about your opinion for Jordan 6 Rings, but I couldn't find anything. Was wondering what do you think about these sneakers?? Have a nice day!
Newly subscribed all the way from San Luis Potosi, Mexico and 4 month old Sneakerhead baby. lol My favorite colorway for now might sound hype but would be the chicago and unc.
and yet when I tried to get the perforated white AJ1 HIGH the price is so high that I dropped it same goes for the noise canceling white's so what do you have to say about that dj?
i think that nike is putting a bit less effort on the AJ1 high and putting it more on the mids this is why resallers started to resale mids more than the highs only becuse they have better colorways
I got rid of all my AJ 1’s because they were super saturated, also took advantage of people wanting older pairs( All-Star’s, Gold Medal,Crimson Tint, Bred Toe) and made some cool change. However 1’s will forever be a classic shoe imo especially with the dressing style now
To me. The jordan 1 can never die out. The shoe just hits no matter what you wear with it. I see it as people getting a reality check and what I mean by that is not every shoe has to be hyped. And their mindset is “if these aren’t at a high price this shoe is not worth it and therefore dead” which is not true at all
To date I have 3 Jordan Mid I had thought about getting another one a High but on second thoughts I bought a Jordan 4 Cool Grey, then a Jordan 6 Black Unc finally I got a Jordan 3 Navy, I don't want to get stuck with the J1
Honestly I'm glad because now I can cop the pairs I want. I remember back when I was able to just walk into finishline or footlocker and pick a pair up.
I don’t think the AJ1 is dead. Ebbs and flows. Everything is a pendulum. They had to swing back after the surge of the past few years. They’ll swing back up again at some point.
The Mid cut into my ankle, so I bought the Low instead. Now, to be fair, the AF1 Low felt perfect on my foot and was $22 off, but it was so flat, I hated standing in it. I prefer the AJ1.
Jordan 1s are wierd because they didn’t get retrod untill the early 2000s and came out exclusively with the mid cut and jumpman branding . We had a few stand out releases like the 2001 breds/royals and the 2011 banned 1s but all of them were mid cut untill around 2013 when they stated giving us new colorways with the correct shape / nike air branding . As soon as they did that it was an instant classic Kanye also helped jb a lot by wearing the 2001 breds and the ajko breds right before the 2013s retroed building hype up for a model that was pretty obscure prior to that .
It wil never die. Look at chuck, never had then hype of aj1 but it stays relevant. Aj1 achieved that classic look so i think it will never fade but they just have to control how much they release inorder to keep the hype.
I'm a og at age 51 and die hard Bull's and Jordan fan and I pretty much have all my grails. Nike and Jordan brand have pretty much milked the Jordan 1's dry. Gotta depend on collaborations and limited quantities to get them hyped up and sold out. Jacked up prices by resellers don't help either. People who just want the shoes to wear can't afford to get them. My favorite Jordan 1 is my Chicago black toes with red laces. Great video and review!

Jordan 1s are my absolute least favorite jordan. Jordan 1s is absolutely the most uncomfortable Jordan. I'm 37 and I never seen NOBODY in the late 80s or early 90s walking around in Jordan 1s. The first Jordan's I ever seen on anybody feet in person was Jordan 4s during the Spike Lee Era. The real reason why Jordan 1s started popping recently was due to women wanting a Jordan but not willing to pay $200, also women have extremely narrow small feet and Jordan's are a men's shoe the only exception to Jordan's being a men's shoe is Jordan 1s. Jordan 1s also was just $140 from 2019 and prior. You also have to realize that they wasn't really dropping Jordan 1s In GS sizes as frequently as they are doing now especially not for hyped Jordan 1s so women was forced to buy the smallest men's Jordan 1 sizes which are the size 7-10 crowd which is why smaller Jordan 1s was the money sizes. Now that Nike and Jordan Brand has risen the price to there cheapest Jordan and started releasing Hyped Jordan 1s in GS sizes, women has stopped buying the smallest men's sizes and have started buying GS. There is GS Jordan 1s that resell for more than the men's sizes due to this exact reason. 1s and 4s started popping because those are the 2 favorite women Jordan's. Ask a female what's their 3 favorite Jordan's and 9 times out of 10 they will say 1s, 4s and 11s. In closing, there is no more stimulus PPP money in surplus as it was in 2020 and 2021 during the Jordan boom. Every jordan isn't going to the Moon, every jordan isn't a $1,000 shoe let alone a $325. Real sneaker heads are still copping sneakers. Most people are holding out for all of the holiday releases which might be the most loaded holiday Jordan release schedule in all of Sneaker history.
get episode (as always). over saturation with the AJ1s was big the last two years, and I think as you noted most of these did not live up to the releases back in 2015-2017 when anniversary editions dropped. I see same thing happening now though with AJ4s, how many colorways can we possible get in two years (and still no military blues!). Great point about the OG lows sitting for years with no interest, no insane prices and expected new releases
I was not a big fan of the AJ1s but I finally got two pairs...the AJ1 Mid Crater and I just picked up the AJ1 Mid Armory Navy this morning and I like them both. Im a 70s kid but I grew up in the 80s I wasn't a big fan of Jordans until the 4 and 5 which came out my senior year of high school, but I had to have an acquired tastes for the 1s and now I can't stop
I think it’s just part of the cycle that you mentioned. For example, I was finally able to buy dunks w/o worry (was able to buy it 5 days after I saw it in the app). Really hoping that there’s no hype on the upcoming Stealth 1’s.
This was a 🔥🔥🔥 video my man 💪🏼 favorite colorway of the jordan 1 is gonna be the pine green 2.0 as the materials are so nice is deft a sleeper pair . And man u pulled out some memories with those jordan 1 mid new loves and not the 2017 pair. I had the pack back in the day can't remember the year but man I miss those shoes. Keep doin your thing man
Ones started to game they will always be relevant and popular but they obviously over saturated the market For example the yellow toe coming up will go for bread but you need the story with the good colorblocking and quality control with all 3 of those you have a good release with value of the shoe staying high
The Jordan 1 can never truly die it’s a classic but the market has been over saturated with too many colorways, many of which aren’t that dope & easy to pass on. Its comparable to what’s happened to the yeezy 350 to many weak drops however, the aj1 is truly a 🐐 sneaker so it might slow down but watch as soon as some heat or an OG like these upcoming Chicago’s drop, the hype will rise right back up 💯
Scalpers in Australia ar a huge problem. The shoes are gone the secind they drop, then immediately listed everywhere for double the price. Its sad. I dont collect them, but would be nice to just have a couple of nice pairs to wear out.

I honestly only like the og colorways of Jordans bc I can remember ditching in high school to cop. When Jordan used to release on Thursdays
Hello bro, you know... I was trying to find some videos about your opinion for Jordan 6 Rings, but I couldn't find anything. Was wondering what do you think about these sneakers?? Have a nice day!
see converse, no AJ one never die, just less sought after, but i personally will always get it
I love the 1’s, always will be a favorite
I only really got into 1s around 2017, so I just buy the colors I like…….and some that I have sold and bought back…..just regular. Great video!
Newly subscribed all the way from San Luis Potosi, Mexico and 4 month old Sneakerhead baby. lol
My favorite colorway for now might sound hype but would be the chicago and unc.
The 1 has definitely slowed down but I believe people will still wear memorable 1s like the Unions , shattereds or Chicagos!
and yet when I tried to get the perforated white AJ1 HIGH the price is so high that I dropped it same goes for the noise canceling white's
so what do you have to say about that dj?
i think that nike is putting a bit less effort on the AJ1 high and putting it more on the mids this is why resallers started to resale mids more than the highs only becuse they have better colorways
those were my first pair of jays too nd mids were lit back in the days lol brought back memories ur definitely right tho in ur overall message
Still can't get any colorway in any size for retail when they drop. No 1s 3s 4s 11s or dunks. Can't even get toddler sizes for retail. Shits lame.
Anyone selling ow Chicago's size 13?
This train is a runaway. I ain't gettin off. The scene is getting bigger every day. AJ1's just getting started.
Yo! I had those same patent leather red ones in 6th grade back in 03. So many memories
Great dissection of the state of the 1s. It honestly just feels over saturated, they should probably slow down on the releases.
For sure time to let other numbers get some shine
@@DNASHOW Facts!!
11’s don’t get spoke of because you know it’s a holiday release. They hold precedent the last 2 months of the year
Certified Unauthorized Authentic Classic 😂
Jordan 1s are wierd because they didn’t get retrod untill the early 2000s and came out exclusively with the mid cut and jumpman branding . We had a few stand out releases like the 2001 breds/royals and the 2011 banned 1s but all of them were mid cut untill around 2013 when they stated giving us new colorways with the correct shape / nike air branding . As soon as they did that it was an instant classic Kanye also helped jb a lot by wearing the 2001 breds and the ajko breds right before the 2013s retroed building hype up for a model that was pretty obscure prior to that .
do you think the original travis 1 high's will keep their price then?
for sure
The AJ1 will never die!!!!
Just wait for the month of August till the market for Jordan picks up! The year is going to be crazyyyyy
I had those black and gold joints they was extra extra soft 🔥🔥🔥
Highly slept on! I use to love these! Low key wanna get em back in my collection
@@DNASHOW that was a different era of sneakers though without you my guy most people would forget about some dope dope kicks that don’t show up on the first page of stock X
Only had 1 pair in 7th grade all white pair didnt even want em just where my only option since them three peat 8s were 20 bucks more but didnt have it never really liked aj1s
I think it’s great. It’s just part of the sneaker game. I don’t get upset when I don’t get something because I know I can always pay to get it if it’s a must have by all means. Love sneakers and that won’t ever change!
All air Jordan 1 are great everyone has their own taste on shoes ,so it’s what u can afford at the time for your collection .my opinion.. I need a Travis Scott Jordan 1 high blue for my collection 10.5 ..
I love the Chicago and storm blue color ways
Well said . Also there’s the fact that the quality has gone down and the prices have gone up which is a Jordan brand issue across the board.
get episode (as always). over saturation with the AJ1s was big the last two years, and I think as you noted most of these did not live up to the releases back in 2015-2017 when anniversary editions dropped. I see same thing happening now though with AJ4s, how many colorways can we possible get in two years (and still no military blues!). Great point about the OG lows sitting for years with no interest, no insane prices and expected new releases
Hi, I have a question when Michael Jordan dies, more Jordan pairs will be released 1
Hey guys I got a new sneaker, but I want a different lace, could anyone suggest a good red colored lace that could match with the shoe
Yeah, the Bulls laces from the NBA Store.
Is not dead just so many releases I bet just one good colab to people go crazy
I got a pair of gold mids. Had a pair of SE camo mids way before I got my first AJ1’s.
Im from the 90s to I love retros 🤪
This was a 🔥🔥🔥 video my man 💪🏼 favorite colorway of the jordan 1 is gonna be the pine green 2.0 as the materials are so nice is deft a sleeper pair . And man u pulled out some memories with those jordan 1 mid new loves and not the 2017 pair. I had the pack back in the day can't remember the year but man I miss those shoes. Keep doin your thing man
Appreciate that
What do you think the Chicago reimagined will do to the community / hype?
Ones started to game they will always be relevant and popular but they obviously over saturated the market
For example the yellow toe coming up will go for bread but you need the story with the good colorblocking and quality control with all 3 of those you have a good release with value of the shoe staying high
The Jordan 1 can never truly die it’s a classic but the market has been over saturated with too many colorways, many of which aren’t that dope & easy to pass on. Its comparable to what’s happened to the yeezy 350 to many weak drops however, the aj1 is truly a 🐐 sneaker so it might slow down but watch as soon as some heat or an OG like these upcoming Chicago’s drop, the hype will rise right back up 💯
the 1 up it has on all other jordans is that it's a decent skate shoe especially the mids
can someone recommend which ones I should get
Scalpers in Australia ar a huge problem. The shoes are gone the secind they drop, then immediately listed everywhere for double the price. Its sad. I dont collect them, but would be nice to just have a couple of nice pairs to wear out.
