Everyone has bloopers, but not everyone shows them, I like your honesty. Much love from England 🏴
Another excellent video...I notice that when your lovely wife was cutting freehand fibreglass cloth there is trick to it? To cut a perfectly straith line, pull one strand of on your mark and cut!
Happy Birthday (and new year), thanks for the blooper, I didn’t realize Matt made mistakes 😅
16:04 The tip of the bowsprit should not be so square, but rather as round as a dolphin's nose.
Below it should merge with the bow. That would definitely look better!
yes, it's not finished yet!
Looking great ! One thing you might try next time you want to make a good seal (you can still use absurd amounts of epoxy no worries) is to use one pyramid shape line of epoxy iso two. The risk with two is to trap air in between when you compress the pieces, the compressed air might make a hole in one of the two lines to leak out, breaking one of the two seal. With one big pyramid shape one, when compressed, will flatten to the whole width while pushing air away and therefore making an airless seal. (as demonstrated by Mike Patey on one of his airplane build. )
since Duracell won't pay you , you should call the boat Energizer. kind of a cool name regardless!
Pouches: the first tool that a seamstress made for me at North was a tool pouch. That was in 1987. I still have it. Her name was Reggie- the best seamstress in the loft🙂
*bows to the Master of epoxy/glass*... Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the old time boat builders had had epoxy, they would have used it. Happy New Year from Australia.
I really want to her durring the finishing stages where design meets the elegance i do hope you take as much care durracell's softer side as you do building her refit
you know you have good friends when they give you SHIZ about a squeeky boat before it is actually done LOL I love it
Wooden boats are just fine .. as long as you have the wallet to pay someone to maintain them so that you can actually enjoy them.
I grew up in a wooden boatyard - I can recall the smell of linseed varnish, sawn teak, oak and spruce at will. WEST timber aside, I just couldn't do timber ..
I am so impressed by the progress you are making. Amazing
That's just how young people react in situations such as this....FAST ! Speed of work is very often the most needed tho difficult element to manage in such a situation.
For weeks I've been wondering what a quarter-bird was. The penny finally dropped tonight! ;-) #berth
So fantastic!!! Your filming is really showing the volume and spaciousness. The final scene shows how good the design is and the true size of the yacht. It's getting exciting!!!
Your lovely partner Jannhy has really turned into a very good videographer (sorry about the misspelling). Cool to see her evolve while seeing Matt evolve in effectiveness. Y’all got this idea in gold light. Awesome. Looking for your new adventures when work allows. Be safe and love living.
I know nothing about boats (i know that they float, most of the time at least), i know nothing about most of the building process, but im learning a lot and enyoing every video. Thanks! Btw, we need to see the inspector more often 😺
she has been on an extended holiday (on the couch) but will be back to her tough inspections very soon
Happy Birthday Captain
Watching from the Florida Keys this time. I hope you can make it here someday soon. :)
Great to see dog house with people in it as it’s meant to be used 👌
I’m a firm believer (from seeing poorly assembled things fail spectacularly), that there’s no such thing as an embarrassing amount of epoxy when it comes to mission-critical areas.
Also, plastic boats are cool. So are wood. I grew-up on plastic racing boats, moved to a wood-filled plastic boat and currently build wood-composite kayaks. As long as it floats…❤
happy birthday🎉🎉🎉
Hi from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 since day one love it...
You are already rock stars . Think of how it will be on You Tube when you are sailing..
Let's go Niners ❤
Reminds me of that scene from 'The Blues Brothers'... "We got both types of boats here, Wood and plastic..."
I haven't even started drinking yet 🙂
What a joy to see the seating and berths coming together. Always a pleasure to see friends coming together to help with fiberglassing and sharing stories as you accomplish more tasks.
Once again the music.
I come for the boat build progress but find myself somehow having a good time watching fiberglass layup because of the music.
Great video, I think those benches in the doghouse will be the most used part of the boat. Happy Birthday Matt.
Definitely!
Happy birthday Matt! Thanks for continually coming through with interesting content. I look forward to every new episode.
Love your channel. Love the music selections. Love the way you approach each task. Love the way she is turning out. Love the vibe.
Thanks!
Go Browns!
You definitely need an 3m accuspray hgp with the 3m pps system. The hgp with 2.0 atomizer heads sprays gel coat amazingly well.
i just bought the 3m performance spray gun. it was a big purchase for us and i'm really excited to try it out.
@@TheDuracellProject The hgp version would probably be better for you as it's designed for spraying high viscosity costings. The hgp uses air pressure between the cup and the liner to force the product into the atomizer head. The hgp version still has the disposable atomizer heads.
Happy Birthday, Matt.
happy new year from scotland
Happy Birthday!
Cool tool belt!
Not only does the State of Washington have the BEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL TEAM, "Go Huskies"; the State provides us with the BEST Utube boat projects. Happy Birthday Matt, love the Pilothouse. Great to see the wife participating and wishing you the Happiest New Year ever!
thanks, David!
Looking good guys.
LOL on the wooden boat comments! Leo Sampson is in Port Townsend somewhere listening!
Obviously we have lots of respect for Leo and the wooden boat crafts people of the world!
The cats bed will be the best bed on the boat when it's done! Happy birthday Matt!
Naturally. Or the boat would not pass its final inspection…
Forgot to add, Happy Birthday and many, many more great ones out sailing your beautiful boat!
Happy birthday!
What Matt, you don't like wooden boats! I love wooden boats! Well, I guess we could qualify that as stitch and glue wooden boats. OK, I admit, my two boats are both fiberglass. 🤣
Happy Birthday
In one of the great ironies of boatbuilding, there is already a dedicated cat space in the newly constructed 'dog house' that itself looking super - happy new year and happy birthday Matt.
Wow looking awesome !!
I have been following this chanel ovet a yaer and thought that you should have real scissors and you have finally got proper scissors #fiskars #torille
Happy New Year, another fantastic episode. The doghouse is coming together so nicely.
Just a fantastic ‘hangout’ laidback friend driven vid. Get it done in 2024!
Happy Birthday. Here’s to 2024!!
Very nice episode. Fun to watch.
Happy New Year to both of you, hope you enjoyed the break. Fabulous to see the doghouse coming together so well, this year will see Duracell really transform into this beautiful new creation. I would imagine by this time next year she'll almost be ready for the water. Anyhow, sending positive energy as always.....Neil ☘☘😊😊
probably another 2 years before she's ready for the water ;) happy new year, Neil!
Looking great...
Your bracket design on the upper quarter berth is spectacular.
The seagull is my favourite too (especially the sound bite!)
Happy birthday🎉
The boat is gonna be so nice. I can't wait to see you float it. But like I said, I just come for the jazz.
Finish the boat.
Happy Birthday and Happy New Year.
You are the only plastic boat channel that I follow! 😉
Rather than a centerline obstruction, how about a heel rest runnng the full length that accounts for cushion height and keeps your feet from dangling.
I have the time, money and skills... I'm just trying to decide if I have the desire. A project like this has been calling to me for a while. Your channel is encouraging, I forgot how much I enjoy building things.
Go for it!
You two are great! So glad for your holiday break. Happy birthday.
Awesome Guys, happy birthday and a happy new year.
PPE in pockets, under chins etc - signs of true craftsmen 🤙
Impressive design and work! Keep it up
Matt. Doode this project is awesome. Could you pressure test the water tanks with air before getting too far along? All the best - Matt & Kat (Things)
i've been thinking about doing that actually.
I tought your tool pouch was a chalk bag for rock climbing 😆 but it is in fact a tool pouch! Good Idea👍
Happy New Year to you and your family
What a great Birthday!
Another lovely episode - seeing your progress of a highlight of the week
Fine episode----loved the camaraderie and the fanatic applications of epoxy, lol. Was greatly intrigued by Trevvettknot's work. I am all fumble fingers and would never be able to do such amazing and creative work----but, I can appreciate true artistry when I see it. That also applies to your work on your sailing vessel and insane devotion to perfection. Great time was had by me!!
Yes, his frames are stunning!
Happy New Year and Happy Birthday!!!
Good to have you all back. Best wishes for 2024 ! Go Blue.
Go Dawgs!
Happy new (fiberglassed) year!
Things are starting to take place and the interior is looking less and less "raw" every day. Good job.
Rc wood sailboat project?!? Yes plz! Future video 😅
Looks like a fantastic hang out spot!!
The project is really coming along well. Thanks for bringing us along.
What a great group of friends, you’re a lucky man! Happy birthday!
This is such a great series - I am always really happy when an episode pops up on Wednesday.
At 14:55 I wonder if anyone else had a sharp intake of breath when you picked that panel up then placed it without removing all that masking tape? Please tell me you removed it... you did... of course you did...
yep, we will remove it through the hole in the lids.
Happy New Year! The boat is really coming together. The only change I would make is at the top corners of the couches in the doghouse where you go down into the salon or galley, I would round off the corners to prevent any injuries during rough weather.
What a cool ending to the video, Happy birthday Matt
Using a spray gun in those confined spaces you’re sure as hell going to change colour!.
No love for the Jets. They certainly haven't earned it this year. The doghouse looks like a good hang already. Did the inspector have too much fun during the holidays and have to take some extra days to recover? Happy New Year and thanks for the episode.
yes indeed the inspector is taking an extra long holiday on the couch
That epoxy mixer has to be your favorite tool.
I like every video!
Happy New Year from Ontario Canada. I too am a plastic boat guy, while I have a deep appreciation for wooden boats, I will not own one again.
Love your videos...
Janneke, I always love your questions and comments in the most satirical way, love your sense of humor! Happy Birthday Matt, very nice work!
Thanks☺️ -janni
@@TheDuracellProject I’m so sorry I misspelled your name, “Janni” it is!
Great progress guys. Looking good. Consider the 3M PPS spray system you can burp the air out of the cup liner and spray upside down which is great for boat work also include an air drier/chiller good air is the most important thing for spraying. 👍
Looking good 🎉 with all of the panels being glassed together and the inside out fiberglass taping I would say that it probably won’t creak at all. Smooth and quiet 🎉
Love it😊
That tool bag is cool as Hell. GO JETS!
Came for the dog house, stays for the dog house and the craftmanship. Hoping to interpret both in by doghousifying my own boat i the future. Keep up the good work!👍👍👍
I got a kick out of you teasing Matt a few times this episode. You were being quite mischievous and needling him for a reaction. He handled it well, but it was fun to watch him try to hide his consternation while grappling with how to respond. He was on his heels a couple of times but handled it well. Keep it up. He seems to be the somewhat serious sort and speaking from experience, us guys need to be reminded to have fun while we work. Seems like you two strike a pretty healthy balance. 👍
I get teased plenty by him too….all in good fun😀-janni
A great start to the New Year!
It’s going to be a fantastic boat when done. Your an impressive craftsman
Happy Birthday Matt and a happy new year to you both - great to see the doghouse being used for the first time to mark the occasion. Hope you had a great day. All the best and I am looking forward to following your progress again this year... :-)
Great job again Matt I can't believe how much it changed the look of the in side awesome job happy new year's and happy birthday to Matt can't wait to see next weeks episode 😄🎉😅
Love it so much keep it up as always 💘
Happy new year!
