You have a unique ability for storytelling, camera work and editing. It is an eye-opener to follow…. and then everything you get done at the chateau as well!
How those buckets of cement do not wind up on the first floor in a splat, is beyond me… 😊😊😊😊. That shot of you under the arch at sunset, made me tear up and I had to catch my breath… ❤❤❤❤❤
Great, how exciting is that. Engineering from 120 years ago. That is why it’s still standing today. Not even the fire could destroy that. So exciting to see the holes being bricked up and starting to look pretty.
That's amazing that after all these years, which included the place burning down, that the place is still level like that. I never would have expected that.
I am always sad when the weekend approaches as I won't be able to see Dan and crew doing their magic restoration. Yes, they need a break, but this project is now my happy place. I have been a lover of building restoration for decades and this is my absolute favorite 😊. Love to see the guys and the pups! ❤
I lost my wife in August of last year, I am extremely lucky to have found your site Dan. As above this also has been my happy place. Keep safe, good luck for the future. Thanks
@@StephenHarrison-p3m so sorry for your loss. Losing a partner or child is the blackest day imaginable. I am glad these videos bring you some happiness as they do me.

Aaaaah, the strainnnnnn on that bucket. This is a very exciting step in the building. For me it's a slow revealing of a big puzzle. Yes. You are lucky. But we all want you to succeed because we love historical buildings and someone with the nerve to do what you are doing.
OK, I’ll admit it! When that green beam hit exactly on the other side I cried! So proud of you, your work and dedication to what you put your heart into your work! 519 thousand subscribers I was #4 or 5! Just absolutely thrilled about how successful you are!
They show how level the surface they're on is. They wouldn't show the level across the length of the chateau as the laser did. Its great to see the quality of the old workers remains sound. No subsidence is fantastic.
Dan, I hope you do get the time to read all these comments. I can get tearful watching your fantastic videos. But also reading these comments also brings a tear to the eye. You have thousands of people all over the world loving what you do. You deserve all the luck in the world for working so hard. Well done and I can’t wait watching for the next few years while you restore this lovely chateau
Dan, you definitely have a knack of making us feel that we are seeing all this incredible work in real time. The little cut to wait for the light to drop is pure cinema. You should be very proud not only of your building prowess but also of your cinematic and film making ability now. I salute you sir!
That is astonishing to me that both sides of a building of that age, at that height, after a devastating fire, is level. Amazing enough they got that done initially, but that it is level to this day is just incredible. Dan was right--he's a lucky man, and for lots of reasons...
Open to the elements too for forty years. If fire and weather don't twist a building nothing short of Yellowstone erupting would. Truly safe as houses.
It’s very impressive, but remember that this was c1900, not 1800’s technology. The owner used advanced steel construction methods adjacent to the classic masonry techniques. He also got to build his home on a flipping great pile of rocks just beneath the surface, that’s gonna help a lot to eliminate subsidence!
The Old Girls coming good now Dan, how incredible that the levels are still as good as when she was born. The Chateau is going to be a Sight for sore eyes when she's complete and be Absolutely Awesome, Amazing and Outstanding. Well Done Dan and youamazing Team 👏 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Pre GPS and Laser, Optical survey instruments like theodolites, transits and levels were awesome. One simply checks the needed measurement by recording 2 or 3 stations of the survey instrument, one from one end , one in the middle (if needed) and one set-up on the other end. average the readings and most instrument error is removed. I'm so glad for U, your Fairie Queene Chastel surely has excellent foundations underpinning her lace and fine appointments, superb construction accuracy, even footing settling. It speaks volumes about the exceptional original engineering and how it survived the fire still standing proud.
I remember when you did levels for the first roof and equally amazing today! Cant stay level headed about starting that roof now!! Gorgeous shot at Sunset 🌅!

As I watch the bucket of cement being lifted up, all I can imagine is the handle letting go. What an incredible mess that would be!. Let's hope my imagination is just that!
Huzzah! Could you be more fortunate?! Amazing! In my experience, an old building so level is rare. But then you did take care to make that first ring beam set perfectly level!
Dan is so "Chipper" and "Mellow" he is a healthy "Vata." He has chosen activities which are quite "Kapha" which has balanced him. Dan has really lucked out with all the different work he has chosen.
I'm so happy for you, the lazer has done more than you could have hoped for. I can just see those A frames, flying up. It was so great to see Brian and Nick the brick back on site. 🇬🇧😊
I am always amazed at how accurate structures are from way back in the day. How did they get them so perfect. Like the pyramids. Humans do great things when they set their minds to it. Nice job!
What a beautiful color to see, Laser Green! 💲saved as well to be so spot on level 📗✅... My favorite color is 💚💚💚😊 Great picture of you watching the sunset Dan. It needs to be framed. It's very inspirational.
I followed your channel when you first started working on the chateau, but life was crazy and I didn't get the chance to watch the journey until just this last week. I'm finally all caught up and I'm so glad to have had a chance to witnes this journey! It's incredible, the work you specifically have done, and all the people who've helped along the way is incredible. Looking forward to the next update!
The views are now marvellous Dan and well worth the effort. I hope you are looking forward to having many along afternoons and evenings enjoying that huge countryside around you with your mates. Congratulations from Australia..
There would be only one big change I would make from the original plans. Big window wall and sky lights for the roof south side, top floor center section. To make for an enclosed roof top patio. Like putting a Hartley on the roof, but only the back (I think its the south side) so you still get the aesthetic from the front of the chateau. Just like a mullet, business in the front, party in the back. And then you can keep that big open view and sunrises with sunsets. Stunning.
After all of the balancing acts you have done each of you will be guaranteed a balancing act in any circus when the restoration job is finally completed! I’m in awe of your awesome abilities!
Triumphant! Dan you are quite amazing and so are your teammates. Excited for you and I’ve been with you long before the château but cheering you from the beginning of this project. See you tomorrow!❤❤❤
Howdy, Daniel. The laser pointing to exactly the same point opposite is also a pat on YOUR back, brother! For maintaining that perfection during refurbishment..
Once that room is sealed it might be worth putting a solar setup where the opening near the peak was and have a low power hvac unit near the top so the cold air it makes falls down to the lower section
Miraculous work. I like to watch and see how they work together and I cannot wait to see the end product especially how they are going to decorate the chateau.
What an achievement Dan - simple words but standing for so much more as a testament to your vision, determination and grit to restore this beautiful lady ( with the help of some amazing people)😍😍😍. I've been watching the magnificent views as each emerged, from ground level up, and now AT THE TOP 🥰 If you can, bury a special crystal (clear quartz or amethyst) into the arch still standing when you come to restore it as blessings from mother earth 😇
My dear friend, do you wonder how the builders managed to level the walls of the chateaux? Water level.
The Romans used marbles for their aqueducts. 😊
@@paulopereira6996
I think, since the theodolite was invented in 1550, they quite possibly used that method?
And here I thought there would be no way measurements on both sides would be exactly the same! Wrong again! But good luck for Dan and the crew!

Whether a plastic tube or a tube made of lead...
They all work the same.
