I so appreciate your sincerity and your dedication to providing such a well-thought out series on Norwegian regional culture. Very much looking forward to your series. Your podcasts set a high standard that most others don’t attain. Thank you very much!
You are welcome!
Generosity is the heart of creativity, and your decision to artfully share personal history and more Norwegian craftmasters is sure to be a blessing to all people 💕🌱
My husband’s family (his great grandparents) emigrated from Setesdal. We were fortunate to visit his farm in Iveland in 2018. We even met the “sweater detective” on one of our adventures. I can’t wait see the next episodes! I am a knitter, spinner, dyer and feltmaker.
Hello Janet
How are you doing today?
So nice to hear that people are keeping traditions alive in Norway. Would love to see some video of Arne swathing the flower field! Nice to see your current knitting projects and future ideas for sweaters. Thanks for all the time and effort you put in your videos. They are truly enjoyable!
Thank you!
Arne & Carlos three times a week? Wonderful!
I think it would be a great thing buying that land where Arnie grandmother lived and just build a simple summer house to spend vacations there..plus memories are there that Arnie can share with Carlos..
And hang a brand-new picture of the royal family in the outhouse. 😀
Really enjoyed the video. Can’t wait for the individual patterns from the sweater book. Looking forward to all the videos.
Or build a few cabins for a Norwegian knitting/craft camp!
The moose call was everything! I needed the laugh tonight. Thank you Arne!
I really enjoy all the history and stories from Arne's family, as well as that of Norway. The variety makes this channel so fascinating. Have a productive, creative week.
You as well!
I love seeing different customs, crafts and foods from different areas around the world. I believe that if people learn about other's beliefs, customs, culture we can achieve world peace.
I can't wait to see more of these podcasts.
The Norwegian moose call was priceless! But be careful out there, I know someone who was almost killed by a moose in Alaska while out walking her two dogs. They are beautiful but nasty!!!
I love hearing Arne’s family stories and I am looking forward to enjoying the series. ❤️ from 🇨🇦
Being creative every day of your life is the secret to happiness. Thankyou for sharing your creativity!
I went to have a look at the schedule, and WOW, what a month to look forward to! I love the history behind all the things and it is always fantastic to hear passionate, crafty people talk about what they do. Thanks so much for offering us this possibility!
It will be packed with content!
I am not Norwegian or even Scandinavian but I come from many generations of knitters..Irish…I have knitted Continental over 40 years. I think Arne is the best Continental knitter ever….❤️❤️❤️
Love the new yarn, that color blue is beautiful! So enjoying the genealogy lesson and learning about the local customs and folklore. Thank you as always for sharing. ❤️ ❤️❤️
Arne your eyes lit up with the thought of buying the land and building. It is a beautiful place. I think it's a lovely idea even if you didn't build it belonged to your family a nice place to camp. Thank you for sharing can't wait to see the crafts.
Hi Arne, hello Carlos. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. The moose whisperer in the woods calling lol, oh my word Arne is a very dangerous man to walk in the woods with I think. Love all the yarn you have been buying and also the beautiful knitted mittens. I am looking forward to seeing your adventures. Thanks guys. Take care and see you soon xxx
Arne and Caros three times a week! Great news. There is never too much of you two. It is so much fun watching Arne pushing Carlos's buttons. I can just picture Arne calling the moose. We use to have a mother moose and her calf living in our yard one winter. My children learned to make sure the moose weren't around before heading outside. I'm also looking forward to the re-release of your patterns.
I'm currently researching my ancestors, I've done the DNA test, and have so many great stories now. It's wonderful to hear about people and their families, their occupations, and stories passed down from generation to generation. Thank you so much for your great videos!
Please buy the land where ARNE’s grandmother lived - it would be great! I do so enjoy your shows and feel as though you are family! I’ve been knitting since 1955, but I won’t tell you my age-it’s unpublished! Ha! Hugs to both of you!!
I'm so glad you two knitting experts have lots of UFOs, it makes me feel better about mine that stretch back over 60 years in a couple of cases. Growley Bear did not always get the sweaters I promised him when I was little 🤣.
Arne, even if you never dance for us, DO dance a bit every day. It is so good for the spirit ♥️
So glad to see you on a Friday lovely Crafts traditions ThankYou for sharing.. both looking adorable and healthy🥰💞
I can't help but watch the whole Sit and Knit for a Bit with a smile on my face. The books and the other videos and just your talking, OMG the scythe (I hope that worked well), are all just wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
This was a fun one- as usual! I was just waiting for the moose call and you didn’t disappoint. Wonderful story telling, and your Setestal /Norwegian cultural series in September is genius- and wonderful to see.
We used to live in Montana, and there are moose that live there. They sound the same as Arne only with an American accent. 🤣🤣
Amazing moose calling, Arne. What a talent you are!
Yay!
I love it when you share your travels and other experiences with us! Really looking forward to the next installment! I hope Arne has retained all his fingers/toes, etc after scything the wildfowers.
Hello Jennifer
How are you doing today?
Thank you both for putting this series together. Love hearing all about Arne's heritage, he tells it so wonderfully.
I can't wait to see and hear more. Just a quick story from me. I'm Swedish but grew up in S.Africa. When my husband and I got married, we married in the Norwegian church in a small town called Marburg. There were many Norwegians in that area that settled there in the 1800. My husband is related to some of these settlers. I have a very interesting book about the settlers. Did Arne maybe have any relatives who emigrated to South Africa in the 1800?
Home repairs are so stressful, sending good vibes for home repairs. Excited to hear all about your family traditions. 😍
I saw my Norwegian stepfather use a scythe - to be able to see him wielding that sharp blade - amazing!!
The moose call was WONDERFUL!
Arne the wallflower 🌸 I love listening to all your stories and family history.
Love the moose call Arne. Looking forward to watching the series, love hearing about traditional crafts. Can't wait for the saga of the fireplace 😊
I just find your stories so interesting and enjoyable. You guys crack me up. I feel like I’m hanging with my best friends.
I can’t wait to see the fireplace. I’m sure it’ll be beautiful.
I can't wait to see this series! Am I the only one who wanted to see Arne use the scythe to cut the flower field? Haha, I assume that it all went well. Have a great weekend!
Can’t tell you how much I am enjoying this series!!! Awesome! Have a great day!!!
I am so excited for your new series! I loved Wednesday’s episode and appreciate the time you all are putting into this series! You two are my favorite teachers!!!!
Hello Maureen
How are you doing today?
sooooo happy to learn that I am not the only one looking for the yarn to finish off the thumb of the mitten!!
I guess I live a very dull life, no crazy people! You are crazy, in a very good way! Now I know what a moose sounds like. I guess I really never thought about that but now I have been enlightened! My last comment said i would see you Sunday. This was a surprise, a very nice surprise. I just ordered yarn that I need like a hole in my head. It is a serious addiction. So far there is no cure! Can't wait to learn more about your folk costumes. I am going to be so cultured for sure! Thanks guys!
Last year I bought a scythe and I LOVE it. Just as quick as a strimmer, but no noise or petrol fumes, and no tiny bits of grass all over the place.
It's not hard, or dangerous, Carlos! Try it- I think you will enjoy it!
Hi Arne&Carlos,
Great to see you today😀
I have enjoyed sit and knit, lots of interesting things to listen to:)
KimX
Thank you for joining us today Kim!
Hello Guys sit & knit for a bit is back 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Looking forward to your Norwegian crafting traditional programmes 👍👍👍👍👍
What a delightful episode of Sit and Knit for a Bit. Seeing the scythe that you use for your flower meadow - I have the scythe that belonged to my great-grandfather. It was hand made (the handle part, not the blade) and he'd worn the blade out and it broke so he had someone mend it. I remember seeing him standing in the field next to our home cutting the tall weeds. Thankyou for sharing so much of your life and thoughts with us.
In UK one of our famous embroidery experts loves Hardanger and I have a book with some of the beautiful costumes... so very skilled.
I had to laugh when you said you have the dance moves from the nineties - mine are from the sixties!
This is a wonderful series. Enjoy the storytelling approach. The old farmstead would make an amazing craft village.
True!
I would love to see the process of cutting the flowers - I hoped you filmed that! It is so great that Arne can find these books and read about his ancestors!
Love the mitten, Arne. Selbu mittens fit so well - I love how they’re instructed - genius. UFO’s 🤦🏻♀️ my house is full of them 😂 Can’t wait to see your knitting projects. 🤗. You two have so many fun video coming up - thank you so much for sharing your interesting projects around Norway.
Another lovely 71\2 minute episode. So interesting listening to all the stories. Looking forward to Sunday’s episode. Arne please be careful how you put together the scythe.
What a lovely blog. Interesting facts and figures. Will look forward to the sit and knit in front of the fireplace. It will be lovely to see it finished after all your ups and downs with it. It will be worth it when it’s done and all the anguish will be forgotten.
Love learning all this history! Thank you for sharing some stories and doing all the work on the new series in Setesdal!
Thank you for watching Taylor!
I love how you continually vary the channel so it’s not just tutorials and chat (fabulous as both of those are!) looking forward to the rest of the Setesdal series 😊
Such an interesting episode again and I can’t wait to meet the knitting detective 🕵️♀️ how exciting! Should Arne be let loose with sharp objects?? Take care and keep sharing your joy 🧶🌻🧵🍂
September in Setesdal is wonderful. What a good idea to travel your country and make an annual series!
I've watched the sweater detective and the lady who dyed yarn and the costume expert and I was glued to the computer. They were so interesting. I loved these videos
Thank you for watching Terry!
This is going to be an amazing series! So interesting and Im looking forward to the coming shows! I’m Catholic and when applying for an annulment through the church, I needed to provide proof that I had received my sacraments, Baptism, First Communion etc., etc. It was amazing, I lived all over growing up and all I needed to do was contact the churches where I received the sacrament and they had still had my records! I am talking about New York City (who also had a picture), California, Massachusetts, and DC! Very enjoyable video! Thank you; you two are amazing and so interesting!
I love seeing as much of you as possible. Always interesting, recipes, hikes, fiber talk and traditions are all welcome. You live in a beautiful place. Since travel is not safe this is the next best thing.
Hello
Really enjoying all the Norway 🇳🇴 tradition guys
This is a wonderful series. Maybe in the post-CoVid future, you can travel to some of the places where Carlos has roots and show those arts, too.
Yay, it’s fall and there’s lots of Arne and Carlos again! ❤️❤️❤️
Plenty more to come!
Enjoyed the Episode. Arne, your english is getting far better. The mittens were very nice and fits Arne's hand it seems perfectly. Interesting life history. You guys have got a lot going on. Glad to see you both are well, Especially you Carlos, you seem to be back to normal. You both have a blessed year and will be seeing your future videos.
Thank you!
We must buy lots and lots of knitting patterns so Arne & Carlos can afford to build a Setesdal cottage!
Thank you for giving a nice introduction to an interesting new series. Very much looking forward to further episodes.
Gentlemen, the moose in Arizona, near the Grand Canyon, have the same sound as Arne's call! Once I was visiting a herd of alpacas in Maryland, and one of the alpacas charged and butted me! I laughed afterwards, but it was such a surprise! My husband tells me that being butted by an alpaca gives me knitter's "street cred." I suppose being butted by a sheep is also knitter's "street cred," Carlos, so welcome to the club!!
I knit half a sleeve during this episode! Thanks for providing me with companionship while I sit and knit for a bit.
I will be tuning in for all of the episodes. Love to hear about the history of a place and the people of that area.
Hi friends!! Great seeing you and having you keep me company while I knit a lap blanket for a friend.
I know how difficult it is to have workers in your home. Hope it all goes well. Carlos my husband also does bot vacuum but it’s ok because I like to do it…opposites attract😉
Wow! I went down the rabbit hole researching family names, and I found a few. Now I must research Hedmark folk costumes. Thanks very much for this resource.
Thank you both for another wonderful episode. Love hearing about Arne’s family genealogy and all the stories of the animals! Looking forward to seeing all of your new projects in the coming months!
What a great public service this series will be!
Thank you!
So happy you decided to keep doing sit and knit for a bit too, love listening!
❤️
Thankyou for introducing us to your wonderful culture.
Thank you for watching!
I loved this episode, and look forward to more history! You guys rock.
❤️
Don't worry about you guys going over your time limit. Your videos are Great.
Thank you again! My favorite podcast and look forward to the September programs. Soo exciting to hear about Arne's family and the upcoming Norwegian history!!
When you go to a dance and nobody asks you to dance is also called a “ Wall Flower “ here in America .
Arne is such a great storyteller!
You haven't lived unless you've had a grizzly pop out of the bush ten feet away.😬Loving the idea of the travelling craft tour.❤️🇨🇦👍
Love the colour of the wool and the sound of the jumper I’m also enjoying having you both back stay safe x
You aswell!
Beautiful mittens and great moose call, Arne!
Oh, if you bought that land and built lots of grass roofed homes, you could do a staycation at Arne and Carlos for all of us!
I love hearing all the stories of Arne's family ❤
😀
Sit and Knit for a Bit just gets better and better and better! My fingers, toes and eyes are crossed for an end to the fireplace saga by October. What a celebration that first fire will be! ......... "Norwegian Knits with a Twist" is my absolute favorite of all your books. And made even more special because you both signed it for me during the little workshop in Portland. I adore every pattern and hope one day to knit them all. ........... and nice to know I am in such good company when it comes to UFO's! They are taking over my world. ...... L O V I N G the Sedestal series. Honoring and preserving the art and craft heritage of those who brought them to life in the first place and those who carried them forward is so important, especially in these " culturally disposable days". As always, thank you.
You are welcome Pamela and thank you for your kind words!
Such lovely stories in this episode. You're both looking very well, it seems the summer has been good for you.
As always a pleasure to watch! I bet many of us are now practicing our moose calls 🤣
Yes, the expression, at least in the US, is ¨Wall Flower¨.
Same in the UK
Great episode!! I look forward to future sit and knit as well as your special September episodes. Thank you so much for all the work you do to create these podcasts.
I can't wait to start knitting an A&C pattern. It will be great at Christmas to see you in your full Traditional Costume.
If we finish them in time😀
I love the way of the hanger, very clever
Wonderful video. I loved hearing all the stories. I do hope you video the cutting of the wildflower field.
Best legacy documentary🇧🇻! Am enjoying it immensely. Brilliant idea you have come up with
Keep it coming!😋 Dille🇩🇰
Sounds really interesting. I’m really looking forward to see these episodes. Thank you. X
Hello Susan
How are you doing today?
This is so interesting I love hearing about your family heritage thanks for sharing. I will be tuning in for all episodes!!!!!
Wow, the bit about the local history organizations is really helpful! My great grandmother came from Tingvoll in Møre og Romsdal to America in 1906, and I haven't been able to find a whole lot of family history, but I do know we still have a family farm there. I simply have to go on a genealogy trip to find out!
Interesting walks you take. Happy Friday to you both. Hope you have a great weekend. Stay well and safe. God bless
🤗 Another enjoyable visit!
49:21 Another option instead of a sycth (if your both uncomfortable with such a large blade) is to use a set of giant loppers. It will take longer and may make your arms sore but that I think should also work.
What an enjoyable episode. Hunters here in Canada call moose to attract them. My father-in-law once came across a group of bull moose butting heads in a circle when he was far in the bush hunting, and he said it was terrifying. Moose hunting season where I live is in November, which is also mating season. He left the area as fast as he could! I'm very excited about your current series. I'm making my husband a cardigan for Christmas by steeking the Men's Setesdal Sweater from your Norwegian Knits With a Twist book. I've been planning it for months. It's so funny because I had no clue about your Setesdal series! It makes it even more special since I am working on his cardigan while watching your series. My husband and my three grown kids all know about "Arne and Carlos" - I talk about you guys like we're good friends haha!
Oh wow, really excited to see your Setesdal cultural series.
