California fire destroys mansions

- A wildfire that erupted Wednesday afternoon in coastal Southern California raced through coastal bluffs of multimillion-dollar mansions, burning at least 20 homes, fire officials said. The flames were fanned by gusty ocean winds but they were dying down Wednesday night. No injuries were reported but several streets were ordered evacuated.

Not necessarily. After the Oakland Hills fire A LOT of people we're denied payouts by their insurance companies, and it's a very wealthy neighborhood.
Rich people have feelings too! While they will probably survive they will never fully recover from their loss. Just like victims of crime never totally recover. It is a hard thing to do.
Honestly, as a Catholic, being rich is hard because you're so attached to material things,,, it can consume your soul, being poor, you already don't have much so it's easier not to be attached to material things, but even poor people can be vicious and greedy too.

It is not just the homes, but their beautiful contents that are gone. Just think of the artwork destroyed and the wonderful collections of all kinds - the books! It is a tragic loss. While I'm sure the homes and their contents were insured the insurance doesn't replace the actual contents, just their value. Sad.
well I suppose it could matter,
as owners of expensive homes generally have the money for greater levels of insurance and the ability to replace and rebuild much faster then those with less money 🤔
It matters because high-end home values are drpping. This is insurance fraud.
I was forced to evacuate my home on May 1st. I do not know what awaits me or when I’ll be allowed to go back.
This is what has been happening in New Mexico since Mid-April from the largest fire in the US that continues to burn along with nearly 20 other wildfires in New Mexico.
But no one reporting what's happening here.
I'm sure that they're covered by insurance, so hey it's only material.

No controlled burn in CA. The fire chief said this is because of high winds and super dry conditions.
These homes do not sit in brush covered areas. They are in well established neighborhoods with manicured gardens and pruned trees. However, the drought has gone on so long that ground water is minimal and we have had tight restrictions on watering so trees that may look okay actually are dryer than usual inside.
No it was a homeless encampment fire in a nearby canyon.

It's unfortunate that this happened but they have more money to build what they want without the need of insurance. That's my point; instead of those who NEED that money because they have different income. I know people up in Santa Clarita and Sylmar who still waiting for their insurance money.
