My mum and I spent a lovely afternoon exploring some new-to-us places in Yorkshire, including a recently opened bookshop. I got lots of exciting book post this week, so this is a very bookish vlog indeed!

Miranda, the life you portray is the epitome of cozy English country living-sweaters, books, beautiful cups of tea, flowers, and easy calm. Your work you share with us is much appreciated! Reading Shady Hollow by Juneau Black-delightful read about animals and critters as citizens in the small community of Shady Hollow hit by a crime! Amusing great read!
So glad you enjoy my videos - thank you! And thanks for the book recommendation 😊
I absolutely agree. 😊
I couldn't agree more!
I REALLY love the sweaters!! They are such beautiful colors and types. Can't find them here in Canada.
As the saying goes"A book is a gift you can open and open again"Just like your videos Miranda and Donna!xx
That's very kind - thank you, Julie! ❤️
That’s absolutely lovely Julie and so true 📚 ❤
Very well said. Best wishes to you.
This is quite possibly my favourite vlog of yours to date. All of the sheep around the abbey ruins, the countryside, the village and bit at the pub, were all so lovely! It's always nice to see your mum too!
So glad you enjoyed it, Caro! Thank you! xxx
I love how much you enjoy a bookcover as a piece of art!
I do!
I do to .....the cover so important I feel what can attract me to a book!!
Donna's looking beautiful at the Pub. Always appreciate your attention to the details, Miranda.
Thanks so much!
You know what’s really beautiful about your vlog…you enjoy life. It shows.
Oh thank you!
What a gorgeous trip to the bookshop, the Abbey setting brought tears to my eyes, it was so beautiful. The music you selected added so much too. All the books are fabulous, especially the editions of Persuasion and Frankenstein. 💕
Thank you so much, Sandy! The Abbey had such a peaceful atmosphere - truly lovely. We can't wait to go back in the spring & summer! xxx
If I win the lottery I am moving to Yorkshire and buying books!
Another lovely video! Your videos always remind me to stop and slow down and enjoy the beauty in life’s simple pleasures. 📚💐
I’m so glad! Thank you 😊
Lovely scenery, beautifully photographed! I am enjoying these two a week blogs.
I love the feeling of being transported into your lovely, cozy world. 🥰 It’s the perfect thing for the cold snowy day that we have today. ☕️📚❄️
Thank you Rhonda! Stay cosy! Xxx
Your videos bring me such joy! What a lovely trip out you had and a beautiful book shop! I also wanted to say that your vlogs have encouraged me out of my regular genre of "chick lit" and I have really enjoyed some different books recently (with the odd "chick lit" thrown in!). The scenery, wonderful flowers together with the music you add to the vlogs really do make the videos so special. I can only imagine how busy you must be with the work involved in adding such great detail in these vlogs but you still come across as very calm! Thank you again x
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Sue! I'm so glad you're enjoying trying some of my book suggestions 😊 xxx
What a beautiful village and pub, Miranda. Thank you for taking us with you.
So glad you enjoyed it, Gillian! It was a lovely, cosy spot for lunch! 🔥
18:41 is giving total Secret Garden vibes 😍 Here in Kentucky, we've had the most bizarre weather for January! Half the days have been sunny, 60°F and feel like Spring, and the other half have rather cold and rainy (like today). I actually love gloomy rainy/snowy weather so I can cuddle up and do all the cozy things, and so I'm a bit disappointed that we haven't had our typical January weather.
They are such atmospheric and beautiful abbey ruins. I hope you get some appropriately wintry weather soon! ❄️
Miranda, I always feel so happy to discover your new video 🌹
Thank you so much! ❤️
I love Persausion too. My daughter bought me that copy for Mothers Day. Its so beautiful.
I am sooo glad that you are making more videos. Such a lot of work for you, but incredibly enjoyable for me (and the rest of us).
Glad you like them! Thank you Linda! xxx
The scenery and your photography are just so beautiful! Wintercombe is next on my TBR list - it sounds really good.
Thanks so much! ❤
The weather is very crisp here in Toronto also, but happy about it because it’s not too too cold.
I love your videos. I really enjoyed visiting the lovely village and abbey. It was so relaxing seeing those beautiful views.
Your vlogs are such a delight Miranda! Your mom looked gorgeous in that pub! Love the broches, the headband, the sweaters, the books, the peaceful landscapes… my life needs a makeover… in the UK! 😆😆😆 Have a great week!
Thank you so much, Julie! So glad you enjoy my vlogs! xxx
Thank you for your thoughtful, beautiful and hard work on your vlogs. You and your mom are so very lovely! I loved the abbey photography.
Thank you so much for your lovely support, Kathy! So kind of you. I'm so glad you enjoyed this vlog ♥️
This was perfect to watch with a cup of hot tea after coming home from a morning of running errands in the rain and sleet. The footage of all the sheep in the countryside made me smile, having recently watched season 3 of "All Creatures Great and Small" - my favorite TV series. What a lovely selection of books you have chosen for the giveaway and the poetry pamphlet is beautiful and such a creative idea. Looking forward to Thursday's bookclub! 💕
Thanks so much Nancy for your lovely comment! 💕
Another great vlog, thank you Miranda! I do believe the images of the countryside perfectly illustrate the idea of “pastoral beauty” in winter and I truly enjoyed the visit to the pub and to the ancient Abbey…The brooches you are wearing in the video are soooo lovely!!!
Thank you, Laura! It does look beautiful here even in the dead of winter! ❄️ 💙
Now I definitely want to visit Yorkshire, I’ve been meaning to go to Haworth but you are showing so many gorgeous places… and all those books are beautifully made ❤
It's a very beautiful (and big!) county with so much to see, Nadine! I hope you can make a visit before too long! ❤️
Miranda, I only recently discovered your channel, and I can't tell you how much I enjoy your sharing your lovely life in Yorkshire with all of us. I love the recipes and the books that you share, as well as your absolutely gorgeous sweaters! The red one that you are wearing now with the snowflake embellishment is so festive. Thank you again. I am looking forward to catching up on all of your videos. 🙂
Thank you very much, Bianca, and welcome to my channel! I'm so glad you're enjoying my videos 😊
Oh such beautiful shots of Yorkshire thank you so much for sharing, Miranda
ah, you're so close to my house! I live just outside of Leyburn in a little village over near Bolton Castle, I'm delighted that the bookshop is open now. I drive past the Blue Lion every day on my way to work, beautiful food and interiors!
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is my favorite Agatha’s novel- I read it many many many years ago in Spanish- I think it is time to read it in the writer’s language 😉
A lovely Sunday watch, thank you for taking us along on your trip, the pub lunch looked amazing
Thank you Miranda for these does of happiness. You have definitely made me all the more excited about reading.
I'm so glad! Thank you! xxx
Tom's Midnight Garden was my absolute favourite book when I was a child.
Happy Sunday everyone 😃happy Lunar New Year as well 🎉🐇 I'm having tea. Really with the cold here the last days I am trinking tea 24/7 🤣it really feels winter this year in England is quite a bit colder than normal 👀 what a nice book haul!!

Once again, such a wonderful video Miranda. I’m so happy you’re getting to enjoy my beloved Yorkshire. It’s a while since I visited Jervaulx Abbey so I think we will head back there in the Springtime. It is stunning isn’t it? Take care x
Thank you so much for your vlogs about reading and simple living. I grew up in England and left to live in the US when I was 30. So still feel very British. I always sit down and watch your videos with a cup of PG, my favorite, and do a craft while watching and listening. I'm working my way through all the Vanderbeeker books right now, thanks to your recommendation. What a treat they are! Thank you for taking the time to connect with us and share your life. Thanks to your mum too, who I love seeing as well.
Lovely to picture you watching with the PG tips tea in hand! I'm so glad you enjoy my videos, thank you. And very glad you're loving the Vanderbeekers! They are a delightful series! xxx
Hi Miranda, love your

Love your channel Miranda. 😊
❤enjoy this thank you .😊
ThanksMuch! Miranda!
Lucky you…beautiful books
I love the photography so calming with your chosen music. Blessings.
Thank you so much!
I grew up in Richmond, North Yorkshire and have visited Jervaulx Abbey often. In my opinion it is best on a spring or summers day. My husband and I had some photos taken there when we got engaged as it is one of my favourite places, it feels wild and magical. ❤️
Thank you for another gorgeous, cozy vlog Miranda. I look forward to them every week. Somewhere along the way I lost interest in reading, but your enthusiasm and beautiful vlogs has inspired me to begin reading again, and I can’t thank you enough☕️📚
That’s wonderful to hear ❤️📚
Hello Miranda, your book choices for Harper Collins were great. Thank you for taking us to another charming part of Yorkshire, we are still hoping to sell our house and move up to the East Ridings but no luck finding a buyer here so far. Looking forward to the Comfort Book Club on Thursday. Teresa 📚♥
Thank you, Teresa - good luck with selling your house! xxx
Happy Sunday to you! I’m thoroughly intrigued by the title.
Thank you!
Hi Miranda, thank you for all the hard work you put into your vlogs, they are always such a treat to watch. Love a good book shop tour as well. 😀
That's very kind of you to say, Dawn - thank you very much! xxx
Thank you Miranda. Persuasion is my favourite Jane Austen too. I hadn't heard of the Willows in Winter but will certainly be reading it. Regards to your mum.
Thank you for this lovely video . Yorkshire looks indeed very inviting . Steak -Frites is a very typical and popular Belgian dish . So many interesting books , I also like the beautiful covers. Wish you and your Mom a comforting week 🍀
Thank you for another beautiful vlog. I look forward to picking up The Willows book (also the Christmas one you mentioned in previous videos)
So glad you enjoyed it! I'm really enjoying The Willows in Winter ❄️
I loved The Willows at Christmas and The Willows in Winter! Thank you for introducing me to The Tales of the Willows series 😊
I'm so glad! 😊
Thank you so much for these lovely times shared with us all. After watching an earlier video I was inspired to look at Seasalt clothing and have since added some beautiful items to my wardrobe ... many bought in the sales! Best wishes to you and your mum Donna x
I'm so glad! Thank you - hope you have a lovely start to the week xxx
Hello, Miranda I enjoyed the tour of the village, ruins, and bookstore. I envy you with the snowdrops and sunshine as I awoke here in Indiana to snow and overcast weather today. I can't complain really as we have had very little snow, I'm just missing the flowers and sunshine. I must be patient and stay cozy with a warm drink and a good read.Take care.
What a good selection of books for the giveaway. Good luck to all! You and your Mom visit such beautiful places , full of history and beautiful architecture! I’m always up for a visit to a new bookstore! ❤️📚😊
Beautiful East Witton , had our wedding reception at the blue lion,as always so enjoyed your vlog , I live near Masham .

I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Gill! ❤️📚
Hi Miranda! I love your videos which are full of my favorite things...books, nature, with a beautiful English setting. Maybe one day I will be able to go to England, but it is nice seeing it through your photography and imagine being there. I do photography, too, mostly of flowers and birds. I always love to see your new books! Hope you enjoy them and I will look forward to your next video! Have a wonderful week! :)
Thank you so much, Trina! So glad you enjoy my videos. Hope you have a lovely start to the week too xxx
Another lovely blog, so much interesting material, and the perfect start to Sunday evening. Thank you for talking about The Willows in Winter, it reminded me that I bought the illustrated, crowd-funded edition and then hid it away as a guilty extravagance-I'll be enjoying it this evening. Have a good week!
So glad you enjoyed it, Fiona! Hope you have a lovely start to the week too! xxx
Two interested beings watched your lovely video - me and my puppy Fergus. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed it.
I just finished listening to The Willows in Winter today. It was fantastic!!! I can't believe how well it flows and seems like an actual sequel to The Wind in the Willows. I loved the narration by Richard Briers.
That’s so great to hear how much you enjoyed listening to it and how well Richard Briers read it too, Rebecca ❤️📚
The music sounds beautiful.
Love going on your excursions with you! ♥️🇨🇦
A pleasure to take you along, Elizabeth!
Miranda, I am so enjoying the vlogs! Thank you for the loving outing. It's a bit of armchair travel for me.
So glad you enjoy them, Gina! Thank you! xxx
Thank you! Through your videos, I am vicariously living a British countryside life. Not real, but fairly.💌
So happy you’re enjoying them, Silvia❤️
You're very much on the fringe of the area where I live Miranda, so I shall not be too surprised if I bump into you one of these days! My best friend lives in Wensleydale and we go walking together regularly in the lovely countryside. We actually met around 50 years ago when we both worked in a Public Library, and she still works part time in the one at Leyburn! Your first pronunciation of Jervaulx was the correct one..... and I am in love with the book on Hydrangeas, my favourite flower. Lovely video - thank you!
Another delightful watch and listen. I loved the trip to the pretty Yorkshire village, and of course all the book recommendations. The painted editions are gorgeous!
Many thanks!
Thank you for such a lovely vlog. Enjoyed every part of it. It was lovely to see that beautiful picturesque country village-- I felt like I was visiting in person, lol I hope I get to visit the UK some day, especially the country side, but whether life permits it or not, I enjoy "visiting" in this virtual way, especially when you and your mom take us along. 🙂
Thank you so much 😊 I hope you get to visit the UK one day! xxx
Dear Miranda, thank you again for this lovely vlog. You seem to have had a wonderful outing with your mother. You have such filming skills that everything looks so inviting, even in wintertime. Because of you I am now planning a trip to Yorkshire this year. It seems to be a wonderful place! I'm really looking forward to Thursday's Comfort Book Club vlog. I enjoyed reading 4:50 from Paddington a lot even though I usually don't read books like that because I'm easily frightened. I have now planned on reading all your bookclub recs in the upcoming months (your channel was recommended to me only last November or even December, so I have a lot of catching up to do😀). Have a lovely week! Inga
Thank you so much for your very kind words, Inga! I'm so glad you enjoy my videos, and how exciting you're planning a trip to Yorkshire! xxx
Beautiful trip, I really love the Yorkshire country side, the lovely wee villages and cosy Village Inns, just gorgeous. What an amazing Book give away with such fabulous books. Looking forward to the Comfort Book Club discussion 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, Mhairi - thank you! We had lots of fun exploring xxx
Love your fox pin 😊!❤
Thank you!! 😊
Such a beautiful vlog. I would love to read the little match girl story and also the book about Edith Thompson.
Thanks so much! I’m looking forward to those reads too 📚❤️
Hello Miranda! Thank you for new video. The Martlet Box seems to me very interesting, Scotland, cold winter and time slip. Sounds wonderful!
There were interesting aspects, though as I say in the video it ended up a disappointing read for me.
I was just thinking of Tom’s Midnight Garden when you mentioned it! Just one of the many reasons I love your channel.
It’s such a wonderful book ❤️📚
Gmorn/afternoon Miranda. Such a lovely day trip, it was so beautiful. So glad you and Donna were able to enjoy such a nice lunch. Thank you for the bookish update and sharing with us. Looking forward to #thecomfortbookclub discussion.
Thank you so much, Kami! xxx
Beautiful books. Kind of wish I lived in England. 😂 You're so lucky. I enjoyed the walk at the abbey. Kept looking for ghostly monks wandering around. Cute fox pin🦊. Til next time. Thank you Miranda!! 🤗💕💕
Thanks so much, Diane! I always feel so lucky to be so close to such lovely and historic places. Jervaulx Abbey was so beautiful and atmospheric, I know what you mean!
Dear Miranda, what a wonderful vlog, I’m going to watch it again soon after I write this comment.
The view of the countryside are breathtaking to me, I live in Florida and honestly after so many years, this tropical landscape tends to get a bit old.I enjoyed all your book suggestions as well, looking forward to Thursday Comfort Book Club.Thank you❤😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Monica - thank you very much! After living so long in London, the beautiful countryside of Yorkshire is something that still delights me on a daily basis! See you on Thursday! xxx
oh, relief! I was secretly hoping that disappointing read you mentioned on Instagram was not the book about Katherine Mansfield because I ordered it after seeing it in your previous vlogs and I'm really looking forward to it! What a lovely vlog. xx
I’m sure the Mansfield biography will be good! I’m looking forward to it too.
This vlog is beautiful to watch. Wish I had been there.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you.
You live in such a beautiful country. I enjoyed the walk through the country side with you, looks to be a perfect day, right down to the hot chocolate at the end of your adventure ! Love your videos.

Great collection of books. Love your red jumper and brooch. I made the mincemeat and apple crumble yesterday. Delicious. Thank you for sharing the recipe.❤
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the crumble xxx
Loved the village and Abbey footage, Miranda! The accompanying piece of music was very well chosen, adding a real emotional feel of the place. Very evocative. Hope you didn't catch cold though! 😊
No, thank you, the hot chocolate did the trick! So glad you enjoyed the video ❤️
I have just ordered Death of an Author. The British Crime Library classics are offering a subscription service where you get a new book every month as it is published. Very tempting.
🖤🦊Lovely video!
Thank you!
Beautiful video Miranda. Views of the churchyard & abbey are wonderful and the books are intriguing. I need to find some Loracs. ❤
Thanks so much for your kind enthusiasm, Karen! She's such an enjoying mystery writer ❤️
Yay! Happy Sunday! We've had several very dark grey days here, and I've so looked forward to this video about bright and beautiful books! Thank you for sharing with us! (I've passed my copy of Appointment with Venus to my father, who likes reading books set during WWII. I'm also trying to finish the book club book!) May your week be filled with wonderful reading and adventures!
Thanks so much! Hope your father enjoys Appointment with Venus too 😊📚
@@MirandaMills I hope he will! :) At some point, I look forward to starting some of the British Library Crime Classics! Someday! I loved seeing the pub, bookstore, and the abbey. I've read books set in the UK all of my life and have visualized such things in my mind. It's wonderful to be able to see them through your videos!
Oooh those letters of Edith Thompson sounds gripping. How brilliant you’ll be able to read non fiction with some fiction. As always the loveliest and cosiest of vlogs. Have a lovely week!
Thanks Simon! Yes, a great literary pairing. Hope you have a lovely start to the week too! xxx
At 17:41 there’s a book on the right hand side of the screen called All Four Quarters of the Moon. It’s a story about a family immigrating and it’s seen through the eyes of one of the daughters. It’s really beautifully done.
Just love your videos❤ thank you for taking me to do many beautiful places. Where do you get your mugs?
Hi Miranda and Donna. Enjoyed the video. I’ve just finished one of the “Vera” books by Anne Cleeves, called The Darkest Evening. Great winter reading. Hope all is well. X
Thanks so much, Corrinne for sharing your wintry read. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the video ❤️
This was so lovely!!! I really need to read the Wind and the Willows sequels. Have you ever read The River Bank by Kij Johnson? Also I love your beautiful fox pin.📚🦊❤
I have to tell you that when a notification pops up on RUclips for one of your videos, I run for some paper and a pen so I can note down your recommendations!😌

This video was so cozy and sweet. I loved watching it and listening to your thoughts and opinions about the book. Thank you for sharing 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 😊
@@MirandaMills your welcome. Enjoying your channel
Really enjoyed your beautiful vlog. I'm aiming to finish 4.50 From Paddington before Thursday. I have read it before but can't remember the denouement! I ordered the storage tower and also a tester size of the Double Serum on your recommendation and I love them. The storage tower is so useful. Have you read The Family from One End Street? I loved that book as a child. I'm also loving the Bedside Companion for Book Lovers. So pleased I found your channel. Thank you.
Thanks so much, Linda! So happy you’re enjoying the bedside book, the storage baskets and the serum too! Yes, I loved that book and its sequels as a child too ❤️📚
What a lovely vlog Amanda that village pub looked amazing after watching your lovely contents I think of the quote of Mary Wortley Montagu " No entertainment is so cheap as reading, nor any pleasure so lasting" x x I adore the basket tier beside you I know you put up a link in a past vlog But I can't find it maybe they have sold out.. Thank you so much for all your wonderful vlogs I don't always leave a comment but I will try to in future x x x
Thank you, May! Yes, they sold out after I featured them in my recent 'favourite things' video. xxx
I wished I lived in the UK. Good luck to the winner, what a great collection.
I host plenty of international giveaways when possible on my IG account, so keep an eye out & try your luck another time.
