When two top fuel run against each other , it's fast. But it doesn't truly show how fast they really are. Now the funny car is up against what would be considered a fast street vehicle. That trophy truck is good for a 10 second 1/4 mile so they gave it a 6 second head start. The funny car is good for about 4 seconds. At the :20 in the video the view from the truck just put everything into perspective on how fast top fuel really is. I've seen this so many times and it never gets old.
Absolutely Amazing!!! It really puts it in perspective when you get to see it racing against something that is also super fast by anyone’s standards, but then have something that is literally on an entirely different level just Blast Past it like it was standing still!!!
What a great example of perspective! When the funny car passed the truck, it looked like the truck was parked and the guy was eating lunch and taking a nap (of course the truck would fare A LOT better in the sand pit than the funny car, if they ended up there....)😂
When I watch this now after having seen it several times over the years, I am realizing just how dangerous this was. There was always a chance that the truck could get CREAMED by the funny car. There is no other race in which a top fuel dragster would be starting to accelerate with another slower vehicle out in front and so far downtrack. Even with all the safety gear that rear end collision would be catastrophic.
remember this track is 1000 feet long it would take a person about 5-7 minutes depending how fit the person be and also see how powerful this machine can be
What makes this even more awesome is how top fuel vehicles have been specifically designed to blitz through these roads at only a fraction of the time it takes for a person to walk the entire length and the time it'd take a supercar or a Demon to run the entire length of the road.

To be fair, they run drag cars on gravel and sand tracks as well... Guessing the truck would get its doors blown off there, as well... As far as sending off on an actual off road course?? No duh....
P.S. If they did the paved race, straight up, that truck is already 8 to 10 aeconds behind. They staggered the start to make the finish appear closer....
