C3-Peanut for the robot? That dog is really well done for a first carve, great job Josh, if you ask Mathias Wendel, he can run some tensile strength tests for you on which wood is best used as a nutcracker lever ;)
He knew it was the weak point in the design. His is more display anyway.

@@Iliketomakestuff the way it broke looks to me like the grain is running the wrong way... And it needs more of an edge to break the nut - it kinds of cradles it now.
But the carve is awesome!!
Drill a hole in the lever and glue in a dowel? That would help support the weak grain. Could even use a metal dowel and 5 min epoxy. That dog was a thing of beauty.

@@Iliketomakestuff WOW! When he started I was "how in the world", and WOW. That came out looking so cool. Congrats to Josh for sure. I've tried to do this, and everytime it just turns into a blob...so I stopped. I even took a class, and it came out looking horrible. :( LOL.

Oh my god Bob!!!! The bass sound, when Josh said "bass wood", IS HILARIOUS!! Probably because I wasn't expecting it. I love that you have added a bit more funny stuff into your videos. When you put the bloopers at the end of the videos, THAT was a great idea also.
Your channel never just coasts. You are always on an upward trajectory. It must take a lot of effort for you to always think of new things to try. I'm sure it's a lot of pressure to keep topping yourself, but you are doing it and your channel is better than ever. You should be very proud, Bob. I love what you're doing!

Ive noticed everyone on the internet seems to think they always know more than the people in the video, so kudos to you guys for not only putting yourself out there for everyone to criticize, but also for being able to joke about it and not letting it get to you. It's nice to see makers who acknowledge where they may not be as experienced/knowledgeable about a tool or skill, and using that as an opportunity to help others get the confidence to try stuff.

Had to pause at 7:40 just to comment to say that Die Hard is 100% a Christmas film. Christmas is an integral part of the story if you remove Christmas, you wouldn’t have a film, it’s major plot point. So that in itself proves that it is a Christmas film.

As I watched this I assumed the dog didn't have enough leverage to crack a strong nut. Also to answer the question how to pronounce pecan... It's very simple. A "puh-kaan" is a nut. A "pee-can" is something you keep under your bed at night.
it's "peh-kahn". A "pee-can" is what you keep in the boat for long fishing trips (also called a night-jar for keeping under the bed). :D

Hey Bob, decorate him with some scales and a tail, and call him Big Eye Chew-Na!
For the nut cracking dog, you need to orient the wood grain correctly in the lever. The grain should run continuously, since you snapped in between them. Or, you could have used plywood, which grain direction won't be an issue, and make the handle longer for more mechanical advantage. Disguise it as a leash.
I would LOVE to visit Micro Center if ONLY they had one here in Arizona! 😢

Fun Fact: The best nutcracker is a C clamp 😁. Actual wooden nutcrackers are pretty much just ornamental.
