It's as though god doesn't actually exist and is just a product of human insanity.

Reignerific I know right? People pray and pray for cancer sufferers to be healed and yet if there was an almighty, omnipotent being wouldn't they already be healed? Seems as though the only real people who are trying to make a difference are the atheist scientists working their asses off to try and save these peoples lives..... Most Christians like to say "God" has a plan. Well, if that is true then why pray? Do you expect "God" to change his plan just for you? And why would you want "God" to change his plan if he supposedly knows what is best?

I don't know, I'm trying to look at it from a religious point of view, and it just seems to me like they're trying to put themselves on God's level, thinking that their piddling desires are enough to warrant re-writing the future.

Michele Bachmann is a very popular comedian in the USA whose shtick is playing a dumb broad. Millions of dumb as dirt Christian conservatives care a great deal about Michele because she is one of the very few people on earth who they can feel smarter than. Of course, there's also Sarah Palin and Louis Gohmert.
What is wrong with waiting 15 mins to see a doctor about something non life-threatening? Our NHS is not perfect but anyone that can comes here to use it!
If you have the money, or your insurance will cover it, then sure the US has some of the best islands of excellence but as a national system? In a land where so many are impoverished no nation could call itself civilised without free healthcare for all.
America should look to the other first world nations higher up the _Human Development Index_ to see that free socialist healthcare _is_ the only way to go for a first world nation.

Coming from the UK, I can safely say that socialised heathcare does not involve 'waiting hours in line to see a doctor'. I can normally see a doctor on the day I phone, and then have to sit in the waiting room for all of two minutes. Socialised medicine is an absolutely fantastic thing - it's a shame that Obamacare didn't meet that standard.

I just dont get why americans are so afraid of socialised medicine. I would rather wait few hours and then get to a free doctor, than pay my self sick with fees and insurances. In Finland we have both municipal and private doctors, and most people prefer the municipal ones, because you get good treatment and municipal ones dont have intencive to prescribe you any unnecessary and expensive medication or surgery for their own financial benefit. Healthcare in my opinion is a basic human right.

It's not socialized medicine because the insurance companies still get ALL the profits.
If I'm not mistaken, it was supposed to be originally with the public option, mandate etc that were subsequently removed through negotiations. I'm for socialized medicine but this isn't quite there yet--it's a good starting point though.

"michelle" and "michele" are equivalent in meaning ("gift from god") and pronunciation, and there is no famous "michelle bachmann" that this one could be confused with.

Let's hope that Democrats get some balls and do offer socialize medicine. If you don't want it don't pay for it. There's a lot of people that trust government a lot more than the insurance corporations if you ever have to get past huge deductibles, refusal to pay and have to get lawyers, having to get new appointments since they pay for one thing only per visit and there is absolutely no competition among them told by their huge profits. How can they possibly compete for cost?
