I would say Mayweather was quicker than his uncle and his defense was a lot more effective. I don't think that's the proper question. I would ask “Who would win the majority of the fights if they fought a trilogy (or x amount of fights)? If they fight enough times, it's possible to see them both win some of those bouts. Who would beat who more often is a better question. In my opinion Floyd wins the majority of the fights vs Chavez.
As much as I want to say Chavez wins I just can’t. He struggled against Whitaker who has a similar slick defensive style. Now imagine a prime Mayweather with such characteristic plus more offensive than Whitaker. Mayweather by decision.

I would say Mayweather was quicker than his uncle and his defense was a lot more effective. The reason Chavez would’ve taken him was his ability to close the gap, relentless inside body damage, incredible chin and power shots. I don't think that's the proper question. I would ask “Who would win the majority of the fights if they fought a trilogy (or x amount of fights)? If they fight enough times, it's possible to see them both win some of those bouts. Who would beat who more often is a better question. In my opinion Floyd wins the majority of the fights vs Chavez.

@@Abdu-yc5wk In that case, Chavez, in his prime, was WAY too much for floyd. Laying on the ropes trying to pot shot just wouldn't work on him. And the shoulder roll works if someone is throwing one punch at a time. Again, it wouldn't work here.
@@constantine7382 I disagree, his philly shell and shoulder roll has definitely delt with and nullified fast paced fighters, he doesnt counter well against those combos but he has discouraged fighters before since they just hit without hitting and just waste energy

I think Chavez, at the lighter weights, just had too many weapons. In floyd's entire career, he never faced anyone like this. I think Castillo beat floyd rather convincingly and he was no where near a Chavez.
