And this is why i did not enter the contest in the mod section, for someone to do this sort of build, ssgw is amazing, the MG-01B Leopard Mobile Base Platform, from Banshee Metal really shows what can be done with mods, i have always said that there are people out in the SE community who can build some unbelievable creations and this just shows how right i am, well done to you sir, hats off, two thumbs up and everything else, to you sir W4stedspace, another great vid, and another super spotlight, i am sure that Arron from LSG will understand about people taking his design and interpret it so that they come up with something that they themselves have built. We all take inspiration from everywhere, that's what makes anything we do such fun to do. I know my designs come from seeing what others have don and building things to do the same job, but in my own way, and before you know it i have come up with something that is unique to me. This is what i see here, a big WELL DONe to Banshee Metal and to all those that have stepped up to enter this competition....Lord Wraith
Damian Lunt Someone else mentioned it in the comments also, but this is a perfect example of that loading screen quote about 'A good scientist is all about new ideas, engineers use as few new ideas as possible' People see things and get inspired by them and then make them better, or different.. it's a good thing!
Banshee_Metal It represents engineer thinking as far as I'm concerned. Take concept, refine. The refine again. etc.. Until you get something that is totally intuitive to use as well as being aesthetically pleasing and functional. People know I'm not a fan of small ships with mods but this is an example of where I can be very much surprised and to some extent 'proved wrong' :)

***** Perhaps one of the reasons it can go up terrain so well is that it appears to have on-board gravity as well. The back ramp shows just one of the ways that hinges would be useful in SE, currently in vanilla you have to have 2 rotors done perfectly to do what hinges could do. One of the reasons people prefer "small ships gone wild" is because of the increased detail, each block is only .5 metres instead of 2.5, so you can fit a lot of different blocks in the same space as you could on a large ship, LSG has a vid showing examples of the rust bucket and the small ship gone wild rust bucket. Also, I've heard from the grapevine that you are working on another "planet-like" asteroid, any vid coming soon on that? Oh, and have you read the blogpost yet? Spoiler alert: the origin is now the centre of the universe.
Benefactorist The onboard gravity indeed helps but I looked at that from the perspective that it was only only increasing the mass, the same could have been done by fitting more mass blocks (of which he has plenty) but that was done to enable it to be truly standalone. It also does make 'some' sense in the technology argument.. if we have the technology to 'generate' gravity then while I'm not so willing to believe something that small could counter the gravity of a planet, I'm willing to believe it could potentially add to it within a local area. The hinges would be an amazing addition, I'm kinda sad that Keen seem not keen (sorry) to implement anything that's already covered by mods aside from those first 2 additions. Can totally understand why people like 'ssgw' but equally, they always make the game run like absolute turd :P For practical purposes I have to argue the case for vanilla there, albeit a sad workaround for game failings. I may be.. interesting grapevine this, I actually wasn't aware I had one! The answer is yes, but this one is a bit different and so needs to be shown at the right stage!
***** On the onboard gravity, what I was suggesting is that it would locally change the direction of the gravity, so that you wouldn't be going "up" so much as going lateral (even if it were "up" on the planet), I'm not suggesting that would work on an actual planet, but it probably works on your test planet. I generally don't like the "ssgw" because I generally try to build ships with minimal numbers of blocks, and to build a small ship with an interior is a LOT of blocks (and I primarily do survival, so you get the idea). The things with mods, is that not all mods work with all vanilla blocks, and (even more so) not all mods work with other mods. Everything in vanilla works with things in vanilla (generally, sometimes rotors can go wack). I imagine a vanilla hinge would have 2 variants, like the rotor, a normal and advanced, the advanced allowing stuff to pass through (but is more costly) than the normal.
Benefactorist I understand about the gravity plane being in relation to the ship itself - but the planet itself still has it's own gravity applying the downwards force correctly. I say it's a sad failing because keen have openly said and continue to practice the approach of not adding things to the game if they are already covered by a mod - in fact the recent survey they did clearly highlights that they actually expect people to be using mods.. there were no options to answer 'I play vanilla' just 'less than 3 mods' and plenty of answers suggesting you could practically use 70+ mods in the game. From that perspective the game should be more capable of handling the added detail and functionality mods offer and tbh should also be more friendly in how it supports them (e.g. blueprints with mods being a pain in the ass to actually use)
DTM'98 I actually kinda hate the term but I have to give it to him, you say that and people know exactly what you mean.. Beats 'Small ships with mods used to make them have interiors like large ships but with more detail' :P
NonExistingName I'd like to get the last spotlights out pretty swift so I can finish the comp up so prolly one every 2 days for the next week or so I guess. Gonna see how it goes, don't wanna just churn out mediocre videos... (assuming I'm not doing that already, lol...)
***** That's great to hear! Also, how many non-modded ships were sent there, approximately? I'm sure the number of modded ships vastly outweighs the number of the non-modded, but still, how many? (also, you can be relived to know your videos aren't mediocre (: )
+w4stedspace or add like a run way for ships and if not improve the top it isnt that imprive but i got to give it to him for the ship and all the hard work he put into it

yukyuk21 It's a 'fake' planet I made using voxel hands, put up on the workshop and a lot of people ended up using it for videos. Planets themselves are not yet released. There's a video about it elsewhere on the channel including a link to the workshop page.
yukyuk21 They can be a pain to use honestly, took a long while getting it all done and looking vaguely right (and I'm still far from happy with it).. you do get used to it slowly though :)
BoMz InFuZionZ Certainly not intentionally! I guess you mean when I'm talking about having the door up high and that's nothing to do with Aarron and entirely to do with how many competition entries I got with doors in the sky someplace... Literally 70% of the entries have no way of accessing the ship from the ground - I end up mentioning it again in the next spotlight vid also it's so common.
drillz007 Re-watch the announcement video, he said very clearly there was a modded section for submitting ships and a non-modded section. Each are judged separately.
drillz007 There's two categories. Modded and Un-Modded. I think I recall ***** originally saying something about only using scripts you'd created yourself. But I guess we can let that one slide lol.
Hiker Wolfspaine Inspired by, but not actually the same as LSG :) There's a couple of links in another of the comments here showing a direct comparison if you are interested, but mostly the wheel setup has been changed quite a lot but the tracks are very similar.
If this had servers that could handle thousands of people, this would be on par with Star Citizen, people would naturally make factions that are huge and they'd need resources and then trading would begin (resources would have to be more scarce for that) and space stations and mining stations and an economy would develop, shame it would run at .2 FPS.

TheTechnicalNirl Aye, I'd personally not use that many modded parts at once but I have to admit they did add something to the design, wasn't just for the sake of it!
indeed, the details on the heavily modded large "small ships" are just Mental, absolutely insane. but unfortunately also very performance heavy, they are mostly just for looks, or if you,ve got a mega high end pc to run these monstrosities, which i dont have :D but damn, i saw some beautiful large "small ships" out there, some even made me download and take a closer look at them myself and just have them for myself, ballz to the low fps. i personaly like to make shure that you dont have to download any mods in order to admire my crafts (if i,d build any) and use them for your own goods, maybe some cosmetic mods as they dont use up that much performance. but deffinitely not mods like pistons or rotors or something, as it would break the craft if the person doesnt have these required mods. just like in minecraft, many people use these "command blocks" just like in space engineers you can script and code ingame to perform, with those ginormous contraptions, some wacky and amazing things. ppl managed to recreate whole mods for minecraft and even better. TiTanAEfull Have to say dude, the performance issues are primarily down to the number of triangles used which cosmetic mods are often worse for than functional mods.... the more detail you add and the more individual blocks the worse it will be. Even something In this case a lot of the slowdown comes from the tracks which are purely vanilla, just rotors blast doors and heavy armour.. and of course a ton of physics calculations. the framerate is bad because of the x20 reactors
Troll LOLOLOLOL I could believe that, don't really use mods myself so couldn't say what exactly was causing it.. just that it was more laggy that it should be!
I don't undrstand how th tracks can work. my rotors bug the fuck out. Like, always.
that's last stand gamers wheel design, kind of the only way to make them though
Weirdos In The Woods Gaming Not certain it is tbh.. the tracks are basically the same but have a look at the wheel layouts:
LSG's: ruclips.net/video/uVECpmUOrJY/видео.html
Banshee's: ruclips.net/video/zyAn2fqYPKk/видео.html
LSG's is missing the upper guide wheels and the tension wheel and because of that also lacks the sloping on the tracks at the front which helps it climb. Perhaps an evolution of LSG's design but it's definitely different and seems to perform better, although as I don't believe LSG released his it's hard to really test that theory :)
***** I think wath he means is that LSG talked about tension pistons in one of his videos. I tried myself doing tracks, but it's much work to put them in place...
MrSam1er
Ahh fair enough, missed that part but makes sense - do believe it to be an evolution from that vehicle LSG made
MrSam1er I had to make 4 other ships and a building in order to put the tracks onto this beast.
