JJ: Thanks for sharing. Amazing how gospel and jazz boundaries overlap. Could you please (on another tutorial) further explore melodic variations over the baselines in this tutorial? Much appreciated.
You can even swing! Well I can't, so I looked it in slow motion on RowVid. When he swings, he plays the outer two notes of the chord and accomplishes with the indexfinger. He has chord variants. With dm he plays sometimes a dm 11 with the forth, or a F with the 9 over d With gm he plays A7 with g or there would fit a Bb dim. Somewhat an upper structure A7 over gm In the walking bass part he hits the b always inbetween, sometimes resolves it to c. This is somewhat related to the chromatic idea of the bass. The lick at 4:50 is aproxmatly: starting over dm: f eb g c eb d c g g(in octave) f eb and then: d eb b d c bb ab f a f (in octave) Rootless VII -- III -- VI goes VII half diminished, III dominant, hit two times shifted a third, an VI minor. Two o(ver) four is the follower of this: After VI from above comes a II Dominant, and then a V minor, somewhat a I sus 4 ( somewhat a suspended chord to a I7 Blues tonic) Correct me if i'm totally wrong. i would prefer a lecture in total basics! I shall swing!
I could easily make sheet music for this. However many time sheet music is watered down to make it playable. Only stride piano and advance classical is more difficult. I take it your a high level reader.
Thank you for answering so quickly. I've only started to play again after many years. Your fingers move so fast. I guess this is something that I'll have to aspire to. Lol

wish you was doing this in Ab or Db.
This is a wonderful piece of music. Do you have this music written out on an entire page of sheet music? I'd love to be able to play it.
