Jack Terrasson uses the voicing 1:18 with the 3rd on top (root played by the bassist). He played it like it's played here, in the first section of Parisian Thoroughfare , but in the LEFT hand, a great example of "exercise meets real world". Because he slams so many chords into a small space, it's busy, but the open sound of the voicing makes it work. He plays it ( i believe ) about the same Zaccal did here in the excercise. Chords moving up, five steps, scale wise . Check it, and tell me. Sounds the same to me.

in C major what do you play in the right hand? Thanks...

C Maj 9 would be B(left hand) E, G D and that is spelled from the bottom up...
