Pharrell , I agree with you being different should be celebrated . Thinking for yourself and being a leader , comes in different packages . Some of our best lessens come from seeing something no one else does
Pharrell , you are right being different and standing out should be your super power . I think being different and thinking outside the box, should be celebrated.
He didn’t say everyone was different. He said what makes you different is what makes you special, with specific reference to people with ADHD. If everyone was different, then nobody would be different.
Everyone you talk to has ADHD these days (self diagnosed ofcourse) and if it's not that it's borderline or OCD or PTSD or something else. So NOT having some sort of dissease/mental issue makes you "different" from the rest lol.

I've said that for decades...anyone who makes it to the top of a company is very "different' (not normal) than the rest. That's what makes them successful. We should all lean into that 'thing' we have.
More often than not that "difference" is lack of genuine empathy and sheer, blind determination: these are NOT "qualities" we need to see more in this world.

Do you not think those that have ADHD have usually grown up under some form of hostile parenting and family adversities? Anyone that I have come across that has ADHD has always had a pattern in their upbringing that showed stress, tension and neglect in the household. So as much as I believe in celebrating being special and being unique, I am not sure we are born that way all of the time.
I have ADHD and I grew up in a very warm and loving family. That being said, being raised as I was led to a lot of support which has limited the impact of it on my life. I was diagnosed late, and that's probably why, but I still have the way my brain is for life.
Thanks for responding. Both of your points seem valid. I guess I have seen those around me with Adhd and usually, it’s come from the environment but I guess some people will gave it even coming from a warm and loving environment.
I cannot put my finger on why Pharrell has creepy out of touch vibes in the last 10 years but ...oh yeah EYE no Y!!! Those diddy videos have not aged well.
He just gave a talk about having synaesthesia. He is probably feeling overstimulated and wearing the sunglasses probably helps with the sensory overload.
And Pharrell has been on Graham Norton many times without glasses. I am sure there is a reason he kept the glasses on. Pharrell comes across as a nice individual based on the persona we have seen through the years

Most people cannot because most people do not have the tools for that.

I am ADHD and I grew up in a very dysfunctional alcoholic household so I would tend to agree

My son in the womb was hyperactive. He’s loved beyond measure. I think ADHD is something you are born with. Not environmental.
There is a definite genetic link!

Seems like you didn't hear a word of what he said..."synesthesia". Empathy, empathy.

He's talking about synesthesia. But why does he wear sunglasses? it just looks rude.
Because the bright lights are very disorienting for him to process.
Light sensitivity is very common in neurodivergent people.
Spoken like a true neurotypical rude towards anyone not like them.
