I appreciate seeing sport standards like the ZRX. I have an '07 Bandit 1250 in my stable, with 99,000 miles on the clock. It has taken me many places, including Alaska, in 2008. I will be 65 myself shortly and am recovering from a serious wreck last December, involving a drunk hitting me head-on while riding one of my Urals home from a charity event. I suffered a shattered femur, broken wrist, and numerous other injuries. The Lord was with me, and I survived, to ride another day. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the Ural. Since I got back in the saddle on July 4th, I've logged nearly 4000 miles, most of it on the Bandit. I plan on cracking 100k before the season ends. Keep up the good work. I can relate to riders like Bill; we'll never give up.
Both you and Billy are the epitome of following your passions that will keep you young and motivated . I know so many dudes around my age who used work, family, etc as excuses to give up their own passions...now in their 50's their lives consist of work, go home, drink/ eat in front of the tube until they pass out..can barely walk up a flight of stairs. Would have never guessed Billy was over 60! Thanks for the inspiration.
Congratulations on your awesome ride Billy. Most I have done on a weekend went to laconia from my driveway to my driveway when I got home 1878 miles great weekend.
Billy is amazing, and like a Superman for his age. I definitely love Billy's taste in bikes. Those two ZRX 1100's that he owns are freaking gorgeous. Talking to Billy twice, in the past, when I called to place orders was a privilege and thoroughly enjoyable. Just a great, awesome, humble, down to earth, super talented, good person.
Love the Channel.. and at 51 you guys are like best buddies loving the 2 wheel life, it also is my safe haven ..I also love the vintage bikes from small xr 100 to the monsters you cover them all so well, I plan on riding from Pittsburgh PA to your shop to look and chop it up w ya hopefully??? Also looking to do an iron butt challenge! I think of myself as older wiser, you both are inspiring! Stay safe ,I will not miss a video! See u soon much love and mad respect! Rb!!!
I just love that old Kawasaki, & I'm 66 & a former Kawasaki street rider so I know what its like to be in the saddle for a day. You're a better man than me Bill, you're a better man than most.
That's why I just picked up AZX7R from you to relive my blast from the past, Can't wait For it Hopefully by Friday It will be here... Next will be AZI Rex 1200 for the longer trips perfect bike! God bless team Kaplan, I'll be down to see the museum soon
Great kawi to do 1000miles on, id do it too!!!! Having fun and digging it like a garden!!! Priceless!!! Team green and flying!! How can you go wrong???
my good friend Bob is somewhere in Montana.. he shipped his 50' black shadow and a 71' 750 commando to Portland Maine.. he's doing the Vincent's across America run, Portland to Portland Oregon. My man is 72 years old💪🏾
Awesome... hard to imagine doing 1000 mile straight on a ZRX. I get a bit tired at 300 miles. Bill is a great inspiration and yeah... set the bar pretty high. True story about the time flying by quickly. Ride safe and Ride often!
absolutely correct, adrenalin rush of which i get plenty of on the Rocket III, and the euphoria after a good workout at the gym. I only need to other things, fresh air and water......good vid
Has Bill lived in Connecticut all his life ? Does he know of a Bill who was a mechanic at Libbys yamaha in New Haven during the 70's. He was about 10yrs older and lived I believe in Clinton ct and got busted for cruzing home at 130mph on a modified rd350. He said mirrors were Vibrating and never saw the cops 😂
Thank you Kaplan team for sharing Bill's adventure. And don't forget to watch the end of the video to hear Ken's message. Don't wait until it's too late to enjoy your passion for riding motorcycles. There are those who make things happen, watch things happen, or don't know what happened. Make things happen!
I've owned my 05 ZRX since new. At 67 years of age I consider 100 miles on a Sunday my iron butt. It's still a joy to ride but gets a little more cramped as time goes by. I've always wanted to lower the pegs but don't have the heart to alter it from stock. Stone cold reliable. With recommended maintenance and a somewhat civil riding style, a bike like this might last a lifetime.
i think everybody needs to hear stories from 65 and older, everybodys about how old you have to be . its not about the age , its about health, fittness, and what you eat.
Great video! I wish I could ride as far as you, but that is not going to happen now. At 74 years old, it is enough that I ride all my 6 bikes every month. Two of my three ZRXs are 1100s and I like them more than the 1200s. I have a '05 ZX10 for the track, but have not been out there since 2019 when they closed for Covid. Thank you for the video, and you kids have fun out there!
Man, 1000 mi/24hr is a tall order! You have to be well-versed in long/speedy ventures to even consider it... let alone a 1500'er! Every time we do a 500-600 mike day, my arse is sore for a couple days. He looks fresh the next day, & I think that I know why...he absolutely radiates when he speaks of 'New Life'. Whew! Come to western Colorado for glorious day rides in every direction! All I want to do is talk about the LORD & carving up twisties!!
Billy is an amazing motorcyclist absolutely amazing video like they say. Never too late to ride and never too old to ride. Awesome video amazing info about the iron butt challenge❤😮 Billy's the iron butt Master what an amazing motorcycle!
man I love the Kawasaki ZRX the CB1100F and I owned a brand new black and blue nighthawk S in 1985 love that body style. They need to bring them back they would sell like hotcakes closest thing now is the kawasaki ZR900rs cafe.
This guy is no joke, Bill has some serious passion for this sport. 👍

That ZRX is gorgeous. One of the best-looking motorcycles ever made, imo.
Cool story man got a ZRX 1200 makes me want to ride it more! 55 years old thanks for the inspiring talk needed to hear that.
