Glad it's over. It brought back memories of mine. The double vision was no doubt your brain getting used to the change in your left eye, balancing it out again. But you're looking well; hope you enjoy your break away on Tuesday.
Thanks for the update Bob. Hopefully your eye will continue to improve over the next few days and that you will feel confident enough to venture out in the motor home for your short break.
Great that it's done and that you're chilled out now. I think the sun might turn down a bit in next few days according to the Met office, especially down in Herts where I am. Take a good rest on your trip and don't overwork the vids etc..Leave all that to Jenny!! Ps Sorry Jenny!!!???(😁😁😁🚙🚙🚙🐈🐈🐈)
Brilliant! Well done you. I would have hated that I am so impressed with you. I have run away from hospital 3xs myself and like you often because they left me too long and panic set in! Once they have that on your records now they should get to you quickly in future like they did this time. Take care and I'm sure you will be away soon👍🙂
I have had so many problems with my eyes but fortunately living in London Moorfields took great care of me....it will take a while and the only advise i can give you is rest and take it easy for a while.. eventually your sight will improve a great deal...i avoided driving at night as i found headlights coming towards me were like lasers...best wishes for your recovery.
Hi glad your ok. Did you go private? This is Gerry's wife....OMG I went private and so glad I did. I only had 2 lots of drops NO freezing of eye or injection just a small clamp to keep eye open all I saw was a bright light shining and within 10 mins all done. When I arrived home hour and half later I could see. Had no visual after effects that you describe. Hope you recover well barbara
No it was NHS, but the surgeon I had only rarely does NHS work. They froze my eye because I was too nervous, having fainted before the previous attempt.
Turn the sun down :-) haha. Thanks for the update, according to my optician I'm developing a cataract, so hearing your experience is very helpful Glad it wasn't as bad as you'd feared. Graham
Wishing you a speedy recovery Bob, so you, Jenny and Poppy can get back on the road, now you can. We were caravaners and are moving to a motorhome and have found your videos and those of you co-collaborators really, really helpful, keep up the good work.
Thanks for this. I have my second one on Friday. First one was a dream. Only thing I’ve found is the need to wear reading glasses now. Will still need glasses as will always bit a bit shortsighted. The biggest difference for me will be needing the reading glasses! 😁
Well done Bob. I’ll never forget my dear old mum coming round to see me and remarking on my new curtains. I informed her that they were over 10 years old. She said she had never noticed they were patterned before! Just shows what a difference the surgery makes. The only thing she didn’t like was being able to see the dust and marks on her walls that she hadn’t been able to see before! Take care and let’s hope you manage to get out there on your travels ~ Lin xx
I'm sure everything will settle down and you will be much better than before the opp. All surgery takes a little time to settle down. p.s Did you have a custom lens that allows you to read and see distance. There a little more expensive but worth it no more glasses.
Well done Bob. Hope it's all over now. Drive the motorhome with confidence now ay. Does look like you have gone a couple of rounds with Amir Khan.😉 Hope all three of you have a great year. Pete and Su.
Hi Bob happy to see you made it safe stay safe. I’ve put a link on one of your Vlog’s on the Avtex tourer two. Hope you don’t mind, it will be next weekend. Dave & Julie
Glad you got your eye done. I honestly think your are being extremely polite about anaesthetic in your nose (it stings a little), I endured 6 months of having anaesthetic being introduced into my nose every few weeks when I was having a cancerous tumour getting removed, a procedure I will describe as "Interesting". Its a family channel after all. As the good Consultant later exclaimed my tumour was a b****r to get rid of, a medical term I suppose. However all is good and we both live to fight another day. Take care love to both xx
Well done Bob. One down and one to go. Glad everything went well. It seems that different surgeons differ in their approach to the operation. I was lucky in that I did not have any injection, just the drops. After the operation, your vision is a bit strange and it takes the brain a short while to readjust but well worth the discomfort. Just remember no heavy lifting for a few weeks. Take care and enjoy your well-deserved break.
Take care Bob I’m sure Pops and Jenny will take good care of you hope you manage to get away... we are off to Moreton in Marsh on Thursday and simply cannot wait! 😊😊
I got both eyes done last year (in Belgium): no injection, only drops and no pain whatsoever. The biggest difference post operative were the colours that were more blueish (or less yellow)... Anyway, I suppose you are happy that this is done and over with.
Many thanks for sharing your experiences and delighted that you're well on the way to a normal vision life. Fingers crossed you get out on the road again Tuesday - I'm sure you will. Take good care !!
Fingers crossed you'll get away. You're braver than me, I'm jumpy when putting my glasses on never mind drops or someone trying to touch / operate. Glad went well. Paul
It's a very popular thing to need or so it seems. I have two ripening nicely, so good to hear and see about the op from someone else's prospective! Take care both, hope you get away.
I had both my eyes done One in December and the other in February followed by a assessment to see how it went It's strange how it can be different in other areas I never had put any eye drops in myself beforehand I never had a injection I had the plastic eye patch But only one drop after, three times a day for three weeks Didn't bother with sunglasses, but needed reading glasses
So glad it went well, I remember when my Mum had hers done. Yes I remember Mum saying that the operation was uncomfortable and the different stages of healing are a little odd at times. I hope you manage to get away soon,
Good to see your on the mend after your eye operation hope you manage to get back on the road, we are away to Snowden Friday one of the sites you have visited, it was a last minute booking due to a cancellation . All the best.
Thank You Bob, I'm having mine done hopefully this year I've been waiting since June but as everything else was put back due to covid, the info on freezing the eye is very helpful as I was worried about keeping my eye still for up to 15 mins now I know to ask for my eye to be froze hope the side effects go away soon, All The Very Best Bob. I look forward to your next adventure.
Bob that's absolutely brilliant! Really, really pleased for you. As for the other eye being the 'better' one, imagine how amazing it will be when it's done. You know what to expect so you'll be fine. Looking forward to you getting off the sofa and out in the 'van. Take care. R
Hello , not sure if you had it done on the NHS but if you are concerned about your cataract in the other eye I would consider going private. On the NHS from what I know you don't get a choice of lense implant, lots more options private . I have just had both eyes done with a really complex prescription no double vision or halos. Post op I listened to your videos which was so lovely and soothing. Take care Angela
I had both eyes operated for cataracts at 46 years of age at Sunderland Eye infirmary, probably because of the use of corticosteroids for asthma. Previously I had laser treatment for short sightedness many years earlier. Because of the previous oblation ( cornea front lasered off ) they couldn't accurately calculate the correct prescription for the new lens. After my first eye was operated on, the result was mildly short sight in that eye. From the experience from the first eye, they correctly calculated the prescription for the lens in the second eye. After both eyes were operated on, the result was one eye perfect for reading and one eye perfect for long distance, with the other eye in each scenario ' filling in' . The conclusion is i don't need glasses at all, even reading glasses, apart from for extremely small detail. A very pleasing result. In normal circumstances you are left with long distance sight in both eyes and the need to wear reading glasses for the rest of your life. In most cases like mine, because of the disparity, you can end up with headaches, I don't at all. Compared to the laser treatment, the cataract surgery was a walk in the park, with hardly any discomfort. Later the sack that holds the new lens in each eye also became cloudy, a return couple of visits, and two quick blasts from a yag laser capsulotomy machine to blast holes in the lens sack sorted that problem out as well. Sunderland Eye infirmary were excellent ! Very lucky !
So glad it went ok for you and interesting to hear how it's done. 👍👍 Sunglasses may be a good option until the sensitivity to bright light diminishes but I'm sure the surgeon would advise the best course of action. Take care and enjoy your trip away on Tuesday. 👍😃
Well done Bob, glad that’s behind you. I had both of mine done when I was in my 30s which is a bit unusual, the plastic lenses are doing well as I’m nearly 60 what a difference in vision though!
Hope your gets better than mine. I had my right eye done in 2012 when I was 50 and my left eye 2 years later. Even now I still suffer with the brightness outside and driving at night is a nightmare with halos from all car lights traffic lights etc to the point I have to be so careful driving and now hate driving at night. . Since then I have also had vitreous detachments in both eyes but my left is the worst so have blobs and shadows in my eyes that cause distress to my vision and my left eye vision is just like looking through slight steamed up window. My near vision is also terrible for eating preparing food reading etc and at work on computer so constantly have to keep reading glasses with me. I am under constant checkups and due my next one in May the last one was in November but nobody seems to want to do anything more so feel totally let down. I wished I had never had the cataract operations done as my vision was better then with the aid of contact lenses my eyes at that time were both -10.5 in both eyes. But good luck anyway with your recovery.
Glad it all went well. I'm waiting on the call for my second cataract op following seeing the consultant last September. We're still in lockdown in Isle of Man, but coming out soon hopefully. Though our borders will not likely be opened for a while yet. You'll soon be over it, and back out in the van.
Glad you're ok Bob. Did they give you the option to change your eye sight ie. Make you either short or long sighted because what they've done is change your eye lens. You will be ok in a week. You should find colours are richer
Glad it's over. It brought back memories of mine. The double vision was no doubt your brain getting used to the change in your left eye, balancing it out again. But you're looking well; hope you enjoy your break away on Tuesday.

I'm sure everything will settle down and you will be much better than before the opp. All surgery takes a little time to settle down.

Great stuff Bob, very pleased you are home safe and well 🥰
Weldone you! Glad all seems ok! 😁 It made me cringe when you said about that injection! 😒 They'd have to knock me right out!!
Glad you got your eye done. Very lucky !
I was also fortunate as one eye works well for reading and the other for long distance.
They will do the other eye in about 6 months. I’ve had both done and great

Thats good news Bob that it went well, I'm sure you will see the benefit once your eyes are fully rested and recovered.

Glad you're ok Bob. Did they give you the option to change your eye sight ie. Make you either short or long sighted because what they've done is change your eye lens. You will be ok in a week. You should find colours are richer
As far as I understand they biased it towards reading, but my long sight seems so much better now too.
Pleased that everything went well, take care.
So glad it went well. I had lense replacement many years ago and it was the best money spent. Hope you get away on Tuesday xx
glad your eye operation went well. My brother is having his 2nd eye one next week.
Best wishes and hope you get away next week as planned.
Glad you’ve got the op behind you Bob, now you can all look forward to freedom on the open road. It’s been a long time in hibernation 😀
Yes, we know how the Bears feel!
