Neat little talk. I admired Kathy at all stages of her career. Not just her voice but how she lives her life.

I get it! I'm 68. I've lost about a third over the years. I used to be able to hit a G full voice and now I struggle to hit an E. The funny is that I'm a better singer than I was years ago, I've just lost some range and some power. But I still love to do it. Thanks for this, Kathy.

I think you still have a beautiful voice, nothing we can do about aging. Like they say things get better with age, don't sweat it dear you still sound marvelous.

I had the opportunity recently to see Kathy Mattea Live in Red Bank Nj. She is my favorite female vocalist and the ONLY performer that can consistently bring tears to my eyes with her voice alone. The last time I saw her was twenty something years ago. She had not missed a note and the Kathy I saw performing was absolutely every bit as good as she ever was.
Her performance was stunning and she really has no equal.

Knew you had something going on in your mind re your vocals. Now I know. On e again you saved me as my vocals changed here about 3yrs. Your wisdom and sharing have/are a blessing. "We gotta sing like we don't need the money...." Thank you my angel. Love to you and yours, Lynn 🤠🙏🎶🎸

"My Southern Soldier Boy," was what she sang on Ken Burns' show. I'd never heard of her before but found that song just enthralling. What a voice, so compelling. Beautiful woman, too.

Like a veteran baseball pitcher who loses some velocity...he can become a better pitcher...sometimes it works that way with singing voices. I "lost some" to cancer treatments...So, I adjusted my (male) voice downward a bit. Darling---YOU are a "darling of thoughtful beautiful melody"...you have been "strumming my heart" for a long time...whenever I post in my favorite chair with coffee and you...and "strum you"...Whilst the birds dart near the porch of my rural Northern Michigan home...I Know what living is. Thank You, "Darling. Thank You.

Thank you so much for sharing this!! When I hit menopause, my voice dropped 1/3 of an octave and by the end of menopause it was like listening to a totally different voice. I've never been a great singer, but I used to be a good singer (enough to sing and accompany myself on guitar). I have felt a profound sense of loss for many of the things my body will no longer do, like adventure sports, but I expected that eventually. This took me completely by surprise. Hearing this story was comforting.

The only musician that I feel like never lost a bit if their spark with age was Aretha Franklin. Most singers do seem to have to adapt to the aging voice.
