This video was well researched, but it’s wild because for all the gang violence in our city, I went to school with a lot of dudes in this video from different sets, and at one point everybody used to be cool with one another. I've lived in LB for 30 years now. My first apartment was off of Cherry and Ocean. Never had a problem but I also wasn't stupid. I knew gangs and crime was prevalent. When I got married I left that area of LB and moved to the suburbs. My husband and I looked at homes in Bixby Knolls and Wrigley but passed because our realtor told us they're surrounded by "depressed" areas (her term). Gangs, crime. With all that said we love Long Beach.

As a LB native, this is a great summary of the many different sets in LB. I was right on the edge of Cambodia town and I remember when I was driving by the 7th street shooting and hearing the news after from some homies that a party got shot up. Shit had everyone in CT tensed for a minute
I grew up in Long Beach from the 5th grade through high school. Then I was in the Army for 22 years. My mom and her boyfriend own a home in North Long Beach. I am visiting them now from PA. They live near Jordan High School not far from Compton. It's not one of the nicer areas of LB. The population density appears high? My mom works for the welfare dept and her boyfriend works Compton school district. She says they ain't any people on welfare living big around here as real estate is too expensive for that. I know that Carmelitos is Housing authority because I grew up there. It sure seems nicer now than when I lived there. There see some gang types but they seem a lot cleaner then they used to be? Jordan HS is now mostly Mexicans and Brothers v when I was there. I am now an outsider but it seems more crowded here now but more upscale than it was. I was never that familiar with the rest of Long Beach. I am more familiar with NLB, Compton, and Paramount. From what I see.....all of this is now much nicer. I don't see the people in NLB as being afraid of gang members. But I can see gang members as being afraid of these people. There are a lot of homeless in Long Beach. The cost of real estate and rents just is not going to afford gang types. This ain't Detroit, Youngstown, or Chester, PA. It's just too expensive for that kind of thing. When I lived there it was much worse than it appears now. It was so bad I stayed in the Army to keep from living there but helped my mom financially. I return home next Saturday, but will see some of the rest of the city before I go. Los Angeles is a beautiful area. That's one reason people want to live there. We were going to form a little league baseball team, Carmelitos was known as the Bricks.. So our team name was going to be called Brick Boys, now it never happened because most of the kids quit the team to hustle We had the uniforms, had a couple of practices and then kids saw how much you could make selling crack and quit.... Name of a team, not a gang, we were not Bric Boys, we were aligned with Carver Park, and had a problem with Blvd Mafia Crips, one of the three neighborhoods he did not mention in the video. Why would someone originally from Carmelitos have a problem with a neighborhood by Compton College? LOL makes no sense... That is why you wont see pictures, or videos of older guys that lived in Carmelitos claiming Brik boys... I lived in their 10 plus years and never met anyone that claimed it as a set. Now when we moved to Carmelitos it was a clique of North Side Longo's I believe the Pee Wee's. we all use to walk to Clara Barton together, and we never had issues with them... So in Carmelitos its guys from everywhere, if you lived in Park Village before they remodeled, Avalon Gardens, Jordan Downs wouldn't you want to transfer to Carmelitos too? So the Brik Boys being a dominant gang or controlling Carmelitos since the 80's is false. If you watch the videos on RUclips the guys claiming it do not even live in Carmelitos. Jooba Loc in his video tells you he grew up on Plymoth which is closer to 49th street. (another set he did not mention) So I do not know who writes the gang stuff online or comes up with the information for these RUclips videos... Using common sense you can dismiss most of it....
I spent all of 2019 back and forth through cambodia town in Long Beach . The history is rich in culture. And elders there are held in the deepest respect.
Lived in Long Beach from 2014 to 2019 by Poly and all I know is I got out because of all the shootings, never lived in a place where shootings were so frequent, plus the parking sucked

I miss Long Beach I moved to Texas 2 years ago and I watch these videos for Nostalgia. I lived on Gaviiota and 2nd nice area. I don't miss the parking. I'm a white girl and drove around all those areas and felt safe. I would even walk to 7th and Cherry at night. Nothing ever happened. The gangs left me alone. They saved me a couple of times.

Long Beach been my second home since I was 9 years old I’m 35 now. I love Long Beach but it definitely has some downfalls about it. Had to move my son away because he kept getting into it with the longos 😒 I still live in their neighborhood but my son stays in the house 💯 the Black and Mexican war is too serious out here 🤦🏾♀️

Have lived in LBC for 9yrs, great place with great people. It’s sad these different groups attack each other, but they do a hell of a job keeping the public out of it…never saw a single sketchy exchange etc. Everyone outside of the gangs kind of mixes together and just vibes in LBC. I remember a scary looking dude at 7-11 all tatted up held the door for me around 2a, was such a homie. It was then I knew LBC was different. There’s culture here, people don’t hate quite as much as they do in LA proper.

i remember visiting LB, it was like being in skid row here in Stockton. It's reputation was there, but of course my city of Stockton reputation will always be murder capital. Many of the homies come from here and move to LBC, bay area or migrate to the Midwest or east coast, sometimes the dirty south. California home of the bloods and crips..

I went to long beach for a grappling world championship.. At around 8pm i reaöized i didnt have epson salt at my rental apartment, which i needed to cut weight... So i left to go look for the nearest store... Well, i ended up in a area were i almost shit myself 😅 3 dudes followed me and told me repeatedly to get into the car... I went into a store and the dude working there was nice enough to call his brother and wife from upstairs to bring me home.. Halloween shooting was right behind my previous house and I’m pretty sure there were 38 people that were injured at that party. there was blood everywhere near the house. A few months ago an 11yr old boy got shot and killed while playing outside with his friends on 10th and Cerritos/Orange. They were all non-gang member little boys playing outside when someone shot into their group. Thank God only one of the boys was hit, unfortunately he died. Not too long before that in the same area a 55yr old disabled lady was shot and killed by a stray. Then right before that a lady sliced up her man with a machete. It’s been an eventful couple years on the Eastside.
I am a native of Long Beach. Born and raised on the Westside. I live near Silverado Park. I remember so many of these shootings and the rest. . I am now a Christian and burdened for our city. So many of these guys don't realize that God has a plan for each of their lives. Jesus gave his life so we could be delivered from a life of sin. Praying for our city. Jesus is the only one who can change a heart and change a life. These guys could turn their lives around and do great things for this great city. Our church busses used to pick up kids from the Carnelitos projects, until Covid hit. I pray one day we can resume. I will never stop trying to reach others for the cause of Christ❤

It’s sad these different groups attack each other, but they do a hell of a job keeping the public out of it…never saw a single sketchy exchange etc.
Everyone outside of the gangs kind of mixes together and just vibes in LBC. I remember a scary looking dude at 7-11 all tatted up held the door for me around 2a, was such a homie. It was then I knew LBC was different. There’s culture here, people don’t hate quite as much as they do in LA proper.

For one the orignal Insane crip gang werent called" BiG Insane "they were called just Insane Crips and were formed in the 70s the name supposedly came from of the pay bacc crips from Gardena via Barefoot Pookie ( who was from there and lived in Long Beach at some point he was cool with those who were had reputations on the streets in Long Beach ) they were known as the Insane paybaccs before just shortening it to insane crips under that, you had Young Foundation crip ( formed in the 80s from the younger members at that time ) and the Baby Insane Gang ( BIG) that was started a few decades later . As for rappers reppin that set , I also dont understand why you didnt mention Big Tray Dee ( hes an OG from Insane as well. ) .You also left out old north Long beach gang O Hood Crips as well. They are probably the oldest of the north LB crip gangs( they are also a mix as well of black and Mexicans in that gang ) . As for Suicidal town, that was actually a punk rockl gang that was racially diverse ( I'm not joking) They were were actually called Long Beach Suicidal punks ( LBSP) then they later on coalesced oi into what they are now. If you dont believe me look at the band Suicidal Tendencies" S" with the upside down T . Suis still sport that .( side note : the original Suicidal gang was from Venice and they are more linked with the South Siders than the LB off shoot was - both started off as punk rock gangs - venice was first ) The SOS afffialtion is alleged to have come from some of SOS guys doIing security for Fenders Ballroom- an old punk club in long beach ( at the time) the SOS had their backs against nazi skins that would be at those shows.

So i left to go look for the nearest store... Well, i ended up in a area were i almost shit myself 😅 3 dudes followed me and told me repeatedly to get into the car... I went into a store and the dude working there was nice enough to call his brother and wife from upstairs to bring me home.. Apparently i ended up in a hood that was high in gang violence etc. My ass from europe didnt even know about these things other than he tv 😅

Halloween shooting was right behind my previous house and I’m pretty sure there were 38 people that were injured at that party. there was blood everywhere near the house.
A few months ago an 11yr old boy got shot and killed while playing outside with his friends on 10th and Cerritos/Orange. They were all non-gang member little boys playing outside when someone shot into their group. Thank God only one of the boys was hit, unfortunately he died.
Not too long before that in the same area a 55yr old disabled lady was shot and killed by a stray.
Then right before that a lady sliced up her man with a machete.

I am now a Christian and burdened for our city. So many of these guys don't realize that God has a plan for each of their lives. Jesus gave his life so we could be delivered from a life of sin.
Praying for our city. Jesus is the only one who can change a heart and change a life. These guys could turn their lives around and do great things for this great city.
Our church busses used to pick up kids from the Carnelitos projects, until Covid hit. I pray one day we can resume.
