I understand why people and the band consider In Absentia to be the bands "big" record, but in my mind nothing even comes close to FOABP. I still vividly recall laying in bed listening to My Ashes and Anesthetize and just being overwhelmed with emotion and blown away by how amazing this record was. It's one of my favorite records of all time, easily.
Well, In Absentia is put together like a collection of songs, while FOABP feels a tad more experimental in the sense that it's a shorter tracklist made up of some pretty long tracks in good prog-rock fashion. Both are great records and don't forget Deadwing which is also seriously good. A record that has The Start of Something Beautiful, Shallow, Arriving Somewhere not Here or the titular track just to name a few can't be ignored imo
@@rahulkanthkatragadda6493 From Wikipedia: "The video is dedicated to Arielle Daniel, a girl who was killed by a train on 12 November 2005, at the age of seventeen, together with a friend of hers, Heather Bates, who was fourteen years old. Arielle was a big Porcupine Tree fan who founded the band's MySpace Group. According to news reports, the girls stepped into the path of the train together in an apparent suicide attempt.[3][4] Both were from Oak Creek, Wisconsin. During a show at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on 2 June 2007, her family were present among the audience, so Steven Wilson paid tribute to them, saying "This is for Arielle" just before the band played "Blackest Eyes" which was her favourite song. That night, "Way Out of Here" was performed without showing the video on the screen[citation needed]. "
The first time I saw this video was at a Porcupine Tree concert. While I had listened a lot to "FoaBP", I had misunderstood what this song was about. I remember watching this and not thinking about it too much, because I've lived in multiple houses around train tracks so that didn't seem odd to me. But as the video went on and I started to get uneasy about how much she's walking on these tracks, and I suddenly realized "Uh oh ... this is heading for a very tragic end".
There's loads of talented song writers who are as deep as SW, but seldom are any of them paired with his musical genius and musicians of this caliber taking it to another level

I feel like this song is Steven`s homage to the ABBA classic The Day Before You Came. Both song have similarities musically and atmospherically, and both songs have a music video with trains. Steven has said he likes ABBA a lot, especially the last album The Visitors from which The Day Before You Came is from, and he has even done a cover of the song..

this album set my mood during that time period. nepo politician George W. Bush was on his "way out of here", trying to cover his "tracks" after conspiring in the 9/11/2001 WTC incident.
Very very very bad audio quality... But the clip is tremendously beautiful! I guess I'll have to sync up this video and the audio from Tidal😅 Vinyl will do as well🤘
Out at the train tracks I dream of escape But a song comes onto my iPod And I realize it's getting late And I can't take the staring And the sympathy And I don't like the questions "How do you feel?" both records are huge
i've just watched Loudermilk TV series when guy complains about music taste and he names it after DSotM. I was "Whaaaaaaaaaat"
This is my favorite album ever; I don't think I've ever related to an album as much, which means maybe I should get off my phone.

This came out when I was going through colossal changes. Still touches me deeply.
Much respect Steve and PT. Way out!
What a nice time to upload all these videos... Brings back all the PT memories.

Out at the train tracks
I dream of escape
But a song comes onto my iPod
And I realize it's getting late
And I can't take the staring
And the sympathy
And I don't like the questions "How do you feel?"
"How's it going in school?"

Way out
Way out of here
Fade out
Fade out, vanish
And I'm trying to forget you
And I know that I will
In a thousand years, or maybe a week
Burn all your pictures, and cut out your face
The shutters are down and the curtains are closed
And I've covered my tracks
Disposed of the car
Trying to forget even your name and the way that you look
When you're sleeping
Dreaming of this
Way out
Way out of here
Fade out
Fade out, vanish

How come this fantastic band has less than 200K subs? This song has guided me through depressive times and it's still awesome...❤
This song makes me feel every kind of emotion, simply amazing
Guitar solo is so underrated! It deserves more recognition!
Never knew i needed a HD version of this song so much ❤️
