Porcupine Tree's 1996-7 collection of demos and rarities from the Signify sessions. This is an interesting compilation of demos, as some tracks have altered lyrics from the versions that would ultimately make it on to the record. This album also ends with a solo rendition of the classic "Nine Cats" from On the Sunday of life, performed acoustically by Steven Wilson. This collection is hard to find in its original format, but you can buy certain special reissues of Signify that include this as a bonus disk: www.amazon.com/Signify-Porcupi...
I noticed some of these tracks scattered around RUclips, but I figured it would be nice to have the set in it's entirety in one video, since these songs are not so easily accessible.
All rights belong to the band.

For the people asking where to buy: This album came included with the 2-CD set of Signify (Special edition). I just checked Amazon and other retailers and unfortunately it seems the album is pretty hard to find these days...
You can find it second-hand (there are a few listings on eBay, for example) if you're willing to pay a significant (😉) price for it, but make sure you get the Signify *2-CD* SET!
If anyone knows of a good place to buy the album, let me know and I'll pin it here!

This is actually Steven Wilson by himself, performing everything as demos for the band, before release. There is a NEU! cover that inspired the Signify track, an early version of Waiting, an interesting version of Nine Cats with acoustic guitar and maybe we can spot Syd Barrett influences on Smiling not smiling. Dark Origins is obviously the early idea that evolved into Dark Matter, as is the drumloop of Neural rust. One track that is missing from this album and is also missing from the finalized Signify album is "The sound of no-one listening" which can only be found on the Waiting single as b-side.. but the structure and the chords of this track are pretty similar to Neural rust.
P.S. Notice an extra verse of lyrics at the end of Nine Cats, not present in the original version..

Beautiful album....Maybe its just me, I heard a lot of Spinetta in this album, specially in "Smiling not Smiling".

How funny; I had this album in the background and after a few minutes I thought; wow, this sounds a lot like Neu! cool! And then I see it's a cover of Neu!'s Hallogallo. Cool =D
