Anyone's guess really; to the old guard of Hollywood becoming complacent and lazy in their ivory towers, to them simply having no idea how to recreate the magic of these movies, to them having less imagination than a brick. . . and it could be possible that Hollywood has gone "woke" , whatever that means in terms of business (I know what woke means for the public, being aware of the social injustices in our society and trying to end them through whatever means you're capable of; but when it comes to companies. . I have no bloody idea what they're doing, they clearly have no idea what woke actually means yet they keep using it sooo. . . I donno.). Point is, without an insider blowing a toot sweet on why they can't do this anymore, it's anyone's guess sadly. =(
Love this movie and all the songs. People talk shit about the 80s but damn it was the last of a good time. People still had black and white tvs, home phone with a cord attached, lovely atari and Nintendo, also those floppy drive computers. Good times
wie schön wäre, den Film noch einmal mit den eigenen, inzwischen großen Töchtern zu sehen ............. so wie damals, als die Welt für uns noch schön war. Danke für dieses Upload
I love chitty chitty bang bang....watching this movie it takes me back to a very speical time in my childhood...and its something i will always cherish...i have the original children's book from the 60's ...someday before im 100 yr i will own Gen-11
This shows once you start tooting, you cant drop the sweets! And then the dogs came in and wreaked havoc!LOL Wonderful memories! D.V.D. at his best! Thanks again, gaza!
That's cool - thanks for bringing that :-) My last name was Chitty when I was a kid - and man did I get teased! This movie saved my ass (and of course I love it besides!).
Does anyone remember some kind of legit lollipops that whistled? I think they were around in the 90's...I totally forgot about them until now. Anyways, I LOVE this movie, this song, Dick van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes, and the kids. This is adorable.
@@DemetriosLeviI know you're not going to see this since it's been two years since your comment, but I remember they were made by a company called Chupa Chups. I loved the cola-flavoured ones.
A childhood favourite of mine, even though I was born in 88 I was brought up on all the old classics, today's stuff simply doesn't compare but I don't think the classics would appeal to kids today somehow.
ZOMG that is pretty crazy!!!!!!!!! cuz thats a real close call. although chitty is so epic, that im sure it already has a flux capacitor somewhere on it...
@coventrygardens AND have you noticed the 'other' connection between the bond movies and "Chitty"? Not just Ian Fleming but that Desmond Llewellyn played the part of "Q" in the Bond movies (until recently) and also the part of "Coggins" in "Chitty"! AND both Bond and Potts drove incredibly famous motor cars - the DB5 and Chitty. Fleming must have been a car lover.
@coventrygardens Yes, you have a point. One of those sublime non-thinking moments I suppose. I recently bought the wide-screen DVD and I find it's a TOTALLY different experience from the constraints of the 'full' (ie tv sized) screen version. Somehow, THIS movie, really needs widescreen (as does "Ben-Hur") So, do yourself a favour if you only have the full screen and buy the 'deluxe' W.S. version. It's great!! (The sound's great too!)
@sitadown I like "Hushabye" mountain, if only for the wonderful key modulation at the end of the bridge section! I think this movie is full of wonderful songs - er, except "Choochiface" which is .....well, not so good!
@JuanMacready I think you're a "half-empty" kind of guy (as in a glass being half full or half empty) Cheer up!! Life is a wonderful thing and there are many wonderful things (including this show) to enjoy!
Because Julie Andrews was considered for the role of Truly Scrumptious, I wonder if the same 2 kids from Mary Poppins were ever considered for the roles Jeremy and Jimima?
Y can't hollywood make amazing musicals like this anymore? THis is one of my fav musicals. Thanks for putting it on here!
Because it’s woke Hollywood now
@@brokefarmerjohn2422 Yep. Nothing is sacred anymore. It all has to be ruined.

Two words: Cash grab.

I love this movie. As a matter of fact, it's one of the first films in my personal library.
wie schön wäre, den Film noch einmal mit den eigenen, inzwischen großen Töchtern zu sehen ............. so wie damals, als die Welt für uns noch schön war.

Brings back good memories... :)
The chef was my uncle 'Ross Parker' who wrote "We'll Meet Again" made famous by Dame Vera Lynn
That's cool - thanks for bringing that :-) My last name was Chitty when I was a kid - and man did I get teased! This movie saved my ass (and of course I love it besides!).
I wish in public we could spontaneously break into song and sychronized dance for real...

Truly Scrumptious. That does sound like a Bond Girl name.
The story was written by Ian Fleming

Oh my gosh, yes! I'm trying to remember what they were called but you're right

Happy 35th birthday! I don't know when your birthday is.
A song no one could ever forget!
Ahahhaa I love the bit where he starts conducting the toot sweet orchestra
Those are marvelous working conditions for that century.
We recently got the function on our registers to add the customers' name, and I put my name down as "Mr. Whistling Sweets." 😂
Where at?
I love this movie.
Me Ol´ Bamboo and Toot Sweets are the best musical numbers in the film, by far
ONE OF MY FAVE MOVIES!
I feel like this aged well. 👍
Thanks for posting this!!!!!
Nice one song!
That factory was a health and safety nightmare 😂
"You see erm, iv invented these sweets"
"Oh reallyeh, name?"
"Whistling sweets"
"So, Mr Whistling sweets"
“Mr Whistling Sweets” I’m dead 😂😂🤣🤣
i had this rining in my head, so popped on here to listen to the words. 5 stars lol.
Edison is a genius!
ZOMG that is pretty crazy!!!!!!!!! cuz thats a real close call. although chitty is so epic, that im sure it already has a flux capacitor somewhere on it...
too bad they don't make movies like this anymore
the film in 1968 love this song i sing it everywhere and the other songs too.
What are the odds every factory worker can dance, sing and play the whistle?
Ich liebe den Film
Because of this scene my family often uses the phrase "had your chance, muffed it."
Lol
I want that ca also...but more than the... Dolorian... :0
If this can't make you smile, I don't know what can! :D
@coventrygardens Also Gert Frobe played the part of Baron Bomburst and also the legendary GOLDFINGER! Another connection!
How many of you wish you could have gotten a Toot Sweet candie to whistle and try for yourself?
3:19 Too Late Had your chance.... Muffed It! lol I love it!
A classic line, from a classic line. Perfectly delivered.
favorite scene of the movie. probably because I was just a kid when I saw it and the candy looked good.
awesome praks :)
Potts who’s he
He was your bungee Potts best cadet he ever had
I love you truly
"This is all your fault! I'll have to call call the dog catcher because of you!"
i want this car more than i want the mach 5 LOL, now that is a bold statement....
I totally forgot about this movie and song!!!!!!!!
I read the description, and it was partially wrong. This movie was made by a British film producer.
Mr Phillips is the secretary is played by David Wallis, but for some reason is uncredited at the end of the movie.
I want a Toot Sweet. :D
3:13 Steam Whistle

The only place i cn ever remember seeing whistle pops was in the chemist lol they had ones with a slider in them so you could alter the pitch

Train Whistle 3:13
Oh my God, Sally Anne Howes sounds so much like Julie Andrews when she sings.
Tracked her down to "The Admirable Crichton" - she doesn't sing but wears a lot less clothes! Great movie :-)
Mr. Pots haha priceless...

jeez if this is whats it like when they have a new candy i can only imagine when they get a new flavor xD
@sitadown I like "Hushabye" mountain, if only for the wonderful key modulation at the end of the bridge section!
I think this movie is full of wonderful songs - er, except "Choochiface" which is .....well, not so good!
I did that once. Just walked right into the candy factory and broke into song.... but apparently Hershey bars were already invented
3:31 It annoyed me when my brother sang the "Oompa Loompa" song because they're not Oompa Loompas! 🤣
@JuanMacready I think you're a "half-empty" kind of guy (as in a glass being half full or half empty)
Cheer up!! Life is a wonderful thing and there are many wonderful things (including this show) to enjoy!
8:32 LMAO he picks up the spoon and starts conducting, watch it face LMAO!!!
