To be clear only VT-8 had the twin 30 mount so saying the kit is incorrect for a Midway aircraft is not correct. Two squadrons flew with single 30 mounts. Thanks for the review some stunning stuff for the Devastator.
VT-8's "T-16" (BuNo 1506, LCDR John C. Waldron, Horace F. Dobbs CRMP) taking off from USS Hornet, 4 June 1942. The twin .30 caliber machine guns in the rear were unique to VT-8.[13] per Wikipedia
Mine turned up on the doormat this morning too, and very nice it is. Now all I need is a kit to put it into! I did like the fact that I had the PE set on pre-order and Peter sent out an email to give me the option to add the other kit to the order to save on shipping.
Nige, that is some awesome goodies. Wish i had the time for the extra stuff, but I'm still a working man. Can't wait to see it assembled. Pat Jess for me.
Just AMAZING - all these lovely 3-D printed detail sets. Back in my day, you had one option - building it yourself from styrene . Was blessed that I was improving "MY" aircraft - the SH-60B in 1/72, so I had the NATOPS manuals and could take my own pictures (yes, back in the days of FILM).
Wonderful wonderful Update Nigel, Tonite I Will post A video Of My TBD And another Update On My SB2C Helldiver With Better Pictures Then just Webcam your an Inspiration buddy Model On Frankie day
@@NigelsModellingBench after looking in a couple of other areas it seems that can't agree. Have see photos of planes with single and twin 30s Not surprised. LoL

Dear Nigel,
An excellent set of upgrades- particularly the machine gun which looks exquisite!

It’s funny looking at the pictures and knowing that it was your kit you had in your hands
How was your day out at the Avon model show yesterday
Brilliant thanks Les

Nigel have you looked at an Ultrasonic cutter by cutra for cutting your 3D prints, they are a bit costly but work great.
I shall take a look..
Nigel I have one if you want to give one a try out @@NigelsModellingBench

Can't wait!
Must be nice Nigel.
They were 30 Caliber and what I've seen so far it was a single machine gun
I believe they had twins at Midway?

Not surprised. LoL
I have also looked at a couple of sites and it would appear that some were fitted with twins, taken from the SBD spares bin on CV-6.
Then I guess you pays your money and take your choice
