You know what I love about this channel? You’re about conservation and respect of the catch. Don’t bother spawning fish people.
All summer long, alpine lakes 8-12kft are all I fish. Day hikes, overnight trips, week long backpacking trips I love them all! A couple other tips, when scouting for new waters it’s always nice if you can find a group of lakes close together to explore so if one is barren or fishing is just slow you have other options. 2nd, if you are hiking and like alcohol ditch the beer and bring your favorite whiskey! More bang for your buck weight wise!
Your demeanor, mix of useful information and especially the blatant sarcasm is top notch.
“46 miles in; a day trip...”
I almost spit out my beer, lol.
Spend a few days backpacking to a remote lake to only find out it is barren... been there..... done that more than once. But finding that off the beaten path lake with no one there is priceless. Great Video. Look forward to Monday Mornings again.
“46 miles in, a day trip”
That’s what I was thinking! Hiking ten miles tomorrow to go alpine fly fishing. 🎣 🐠 🐟
Bro. Im dead hahah. I fucks with this guy.
Dude so accurate! This is also my favorite fishing! Was just up at one last weekend, caught some big bows on elk hair caddis. Love this channel man, keep up the great work. I'm surprised you don't have more subs. After all this is a HUGE fly fishing channel!
Awesome video, dude. Really glad I ran into your channel. Great advice!
Awesome, Just in time. I've been waiting for this one.
Love your videos man! Keep it up. So entertaining.
Gotta love this guy he's a man after my own heart...fly fishing and drinking beer
Another bucket list fishing destination! Stay Huge!
Literally my favorite youtuber!
Great video. I'll probably be mocked for this, but it would be awesome if you did a video about smallmouth bass fly fishing. I'm in the south and that's primarily what I fish for 3/4 of the year (except during the winter when the rivers are stocked with trout).
This is my favorite style of fishing, and it's all true. As I've gotten older, I traded in the beer for a flask with primo whiskey.
Broseph Stalin, I frickin' love your channel, the humor and the knowlede. Stay huge!
What a great video. I'm going to check out your other stuff.
Coming back to this one after the most recent alpine lake video. Two thumbs up.
Thanks for the fantastic video
I love hiking, alpine lakes, and fly fishing, but have never wanted to fish alpine lakes until now. Im on it.
First video of yours I just watched. You're great.
Those 46mi out and back day trips are my favorite!
Looks epic!!!
Your videos are awesome!!!!
Ditto on the Cuttie thing. One of the only places I feel comfortable is at a high mountain lake. Great video!
So jealous of where you fish. I live where there are no mountains or trout, so I have to travel if I want to catch some.
Still one of my favorite ways to fish, still one of my favorite videos
Probably the best intro I've seen you do yet.
At 67 it's my goal to fish alpine lake's finally. My dad helped pack fingerling trout in on horses. Great video 👍
Beer, It's not just for breakfast anymore. Pack it in, packet out! Huge!
Fishing small lakes and ponds are my favorite here in Maine. We have an endless supply of both wild and stocked remote still water fisheries here for Brook trout. Dense woods are a problem. But basically every pond with decent fishing has several canoes stashed at it that anyone can use. Just bring your own paddle and leave as you found it.
Imma do this hike before the end of the year.
Great video as usual...thanks
How NOT to find an alpine lake to fish: go on FB and ask fellow anglers where to go.
How to find an alpine lake to fish: Put it the work yourself, do the research yourself, hike in, catch fish, release said fish, and enjoy the fruits of your “old school” labor...you’ll be glad you did.
This is excellent advice.
Minus the the fish I eat on that trip
Nice spot👀🎣 Greetings from Germany🇩🇪✌🏻️
You gained a "like" from me as soon as you swigged a PBR at 7:18am. I dig that
Those hikes are usually 2 beer hikes
Then whiskey
Awesome vid my dude
i live on an island in alaska good luck Googleing some of the lakes near me haha
Your funny have fun fishing
Thank you the Vermonter
So where is this lake?.........LOL. another great video😂🎣
How about a demo of how to catch one of these trout
Usually these alpine trout are dumb as a box of rock so pretty any nymph conducive to the area and season should do you nicely if you strip it. Small streamers in particular woolly bugger or zonker leaches do well for me too.
Some great tips Ben. Gotta hike in at least a couple miles here in California but it’s surprising how few fishermen take the time and effort. Some great cutthroat fishing on un-named lakes and no meat fishermen to be had.
I despise any meat fishermen I see that’s not stocker fishing
I remember when you had 1.1k followers and asking WHYYY!? Now you're 3.4k, they grow up so fast 😢
Definitely guilty of calling em "cutties'" now I won't be able to without thinking about this haha. Just got a 6 ft 8, 4 piece glass 2/3w rod. A lil 2/3 reddington Zero reel, and both a 2 and 3 line, with corresponding leaders/tippet. First upgrade from my starter white river dog canyon bass pr special 5w. Using as a 2 and 3w.
Awesome video! When are you fishing next?
Thanks! I’ll be out there as soon as I can.
@@HugeFlyFisherman Sick dude! You should upload your videos to our Campfire platform. It is an online outdoor video sharing community. This months contest is for fly fishing! Check it out here: www.outsidetvcampfire.com/contest/about/august19campfirecontest
Enjoy that PBR and tight lines
Not a fly fisherman more of bobber guy but subbed for the entertaining content 👏👏
what size flies for these alpine lakes? i hike these all the time and my brother just got me a number 4 Sage fly rod setup, that i can pack along. great videos! i also love alpine lakes its preetty much all i hike/camp.
Love the content. I bet the podcast with Tom Rosenbauer was pretty fun.
Came here to check him out for that reason
Now having watched it. His videos seem like something my kids watch. I think people call it "content creation" or something nowadays. Even if his mollifying videos were to annoy me slightly. I would still say that the very people who he seeks out with it are the ones that need his advice the most. And with more than a quarter of the video dedicated to natural stewardship. It's certainly a net positive. Good Stuff!
Catch some Buffalo carp! There native! And there’s a reason there called freshwater permit other than the face !
Cough rocks cough
I appreciate you.
Same
Planning a trip to a similar location,
It's about a 12 mile hike in.
👊
Shea Ruyle which lake
@@musicvideos5196
All I will say is that they used to get stocked by horseback back in the day. " Northern California "
Arrowhead area Gorge lakes?
What were those two st croixs?!!
I always just called 'em cuts
a first aid kit, *shows duct tape*
Strip that nymph😂
Very good, man. Are this the Rocky Mountains you are talking about? Forgive my ignorance, I'm from Donegal, Ireland.
Correct. But it probably applies to high lakes everywhere.
your no saying "cuttie" rule reminds me of all the idiots i heard saying in the "dacks" referring to Adirondack mountains
Saw this video right after getting back from two weeks in Yosemite high country with lots of hikes, lakes and fish over 10k ft. Why do you prefer Cutthroat over Brookies? In Yosemite it is pretty much all Brookies with only a couple lakes with Golden or Cutthroats.
Thank you for the videos and keep them coming.
I just like to catch natives wherever I am. Most of the time that’s cutthroats.
@@HugeFlyFisherman Just got back from Yosemite again. This video hung with me the last week reminding me what a privilege it is to be fishing alone on an alpine lake in the morning, or an alpine stream.
It's Monday! Where's the new video?
First aid kit = duct tape 😂😂😂🤭
K, purely asking because this spot looks EXTREMELY familiar as I used to hike it A LOT. Is this spot within an hour and a half ish from Vernon, B.C.?
Nope. Colorado
46 miles!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That'll teach me to not eat while watching videos. It's VERY hard finding mashed taters in the carpet. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
7am beer?? can`t be because its hot Right????
Is it ok to fish during a storm as long as there is no lightning?
I don't see why not.
*cries in Appalachian angler*
Where is your bear spray, Benjamin?
Just discovered this channel... this guy is *violently* a Long Beach citizen.
Is that good or bad?
@@HugeFlyFisherman Yes
Sweet. That’s what I thought.
@@HugeFlyFisherman That response just made my evening. You just earned a sub.
Which state is this?
Iowa
What state or province are you in?
Colorado
@@HugeFlyFisherman Friggin lit!
So you don't want me to shout out what lake you're at? Lol
I use “cutties” at least 10x more than I used to now because I want to annoy you😙
Can you actually fish?
What is the W?? lmao
Wind
It's amazing how many people will target spawning fish. Out west I'll see people flossing spawning steelhead and naturally spawning steelhead in california is somewhat of miracle nowadays and these punks don't give a shit
Geht
Alpine lakes should not be on everyone's list... Delaware should be. Everybody should fish Delaware.
Can’t listen to this,l like fishing
quit wearing that booger eater hat
