An Italian viewer here, after watching season 1 . Very powerful fresco of an isolated community, backdropped with a glacial scenery. And, superb acting: after a couple of scenes you can't help but love the huge, bear-like cop; and the thoughtful little policewoman even more.
I've been watching police shows since I was a little boy in the 1970s. I think this is the best cop show set in a small town I've ever seen. It's realism & secular humanism are definitely refreshing (ie: no heroes or villains, just people).
@@cinephile1050 procedurals are kind of a recent thing.. True Detective, The Wire, Luther all come to mind. For drama & great characters, Hill Street Blues and The Rockford Files are still excellent, if dated.
very good series. thrilling intelegant briliantlly written, just thinking about the hard conditions for the actors and the crew. Love it!!! Tel Aviv Israel
Ive been following this series on iplayer and seen episode 1 to 8 and now can only get 10. Episode 9 has disappeared, I thought I had more time. Does anyone know where I can find number 9 without it costing an arm and a leg?
Ragazzi.... Questa serie è bellissima !!!! Olafur Darri Olafsson è un attore straordinario !!! ❤❤❤ Ottima recitazione in Nosferatu con Zachary Quinto❤❤❤ Italia
You would be surprised to know how underrated this series is. As a massive fan of crime shows with grim settings, this has become my favorite, more so than Tru Detective s01. 😂
It is debatable. Geographically, it isn't part of Scandinavia, but some put it (along with Finland) with it as being culturally part of the "Scandinavian culture". So it really goes after, like many things, what they mean by Scandinavian.
Hahaha no, I am Icelandic, I live in Iceland and I've never been Scandinavian though I have Norse and Celtic roots (Norse vikings, most likely from Norway and Irish slaves). Iceland is an island in the North Atlantic ocean so it is impossible for Iceland to be a part of Scandinavia. The Scandinavian peninsula is where Norway and Sweden is located (geographically). We regard us as Nordic being from Northern Europe and in all the Nordic countries share the same though Norway, Sweden and Denmark (due to the fact that those countries where once the same kingdom) may use the term Skandinavisk to describe them. Using the word Scandinavian to describe the Nordic countries comes from America (USA) into English and unfortunately has been "spreading the world" with this nonsense...
Icelandic people are descendants of Norse vikings, which of course lived on the Scandinavian peninsula, and Celts (most likely Irish slaves), approx 60-80% Norse, 40-20% Celtic. Language is North-Germanic and Icelandic is the "last frontier" of the old Viking language due to the fact that the bible was translated directly from Latin into Icelandic while i.e. Norway used the Danish bible and lost their connection to the old language (Norwegian is "basicly" Danish with a different accent to us Icelanders ;) ). In Nordic languages, only Denmark, Norway and Sweden are commonly included in the definition of Scandinavia. We share a lot of the same "cultural upbringing" (and therefore heritage, we did belong to the Norwegian and then Danish kingdom for centuries) with the Scandinavian countries (just as Finland does) since we where tied to them for such a long time. Yet we are not Scandinavian ;) Just read Wikipedia if you don't believe me ;) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandinavia
I hate when that happens. I just watched the first two episodes of Season 2, and thought, typical Netflix. Enough of this mandatory woke bullshit in virtually every production. Make sure there's a racial angle, a gay angle, and a white supremacy angle. They covered all three in the second episode. I was half expecting Wolf Blitzer to show up with Maxine Waters to lecture the townsfolk about why Iceland needed to be more racially diverse and tolerant. FFS.
Q serie murrinha!! E muito ruim, nunca tinha visto uma serie q a policia nao usa arma! Cada episodio q passa so vai piorando a trama .... chega dar dor d barriga!!
Thanks for answering. I enjoyed this series. I'm from Montréal, Canada, and I was not that familiar with Iceland's police laws and protocol. I guess that would explain why Iceland has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. In Canada, a private citizen cannot carry a gun, unless it's a rifle registered for hunting, but our police officers are armed. Thanks for the info - Happy New Year!
ARC Sorry to jump in, the UK has officers have no guns, we have the same system, we call in Armed police when necessary, I think it's the best way, as citezn are not allowed weapons at all, so we don't get mass shootings like US...
Yeah, in Brazil, my country, criminals got rifles, police got pistols and every citzen is unarmed. We have a very rigid gun control laws and the highest murderers absolut rate in the world.
Very close minded view... You don't find it interesting at least to hear other languages? Dubs are awful, listen to a shoddy voice actor in a room overact lines? No thanks. Very first world problem you have here...

@@RWSCOTT Unpopular opinion but I like this one more than True Detective S01.
I've never watched Nordic noir before... Trapped gives the genre a good name.
Not even The Bridge? It’s a must see!
I also recommend Katla and Fortitude, with the latter being the most gruesome of the bunch (but still gripping and worth the watch)
@@ShaneCotee Katla's a good watch. Fortitude and The Bridge are both in my bookmarks, thanks for the suggestions!
This drama series is the best of my life. Thanks.
About 80% of the English spoken in the first series is shown in this trailer.
And it's good. It's time for the other languages.
This is a fantastic series!! Great acting, fascinating plot, intriguing characters. I highly recommend it.

Great series. But, as a reality check, the absolute homicide rate for the whole nation of Iceland is 1 person per year. So... what murder? :D
There is a list available. It says 39 in 20 years. So about 2 pr year on average. Some years none, in a bad year 3 - 4.
Iceland is not Scandinavia... would be good if that was corrected in the trailer
I love Icelandic Girls 🙂
In that big island only 3 police officer working and the island don't have funeral house or clinic to keep the dead body. Very isolated island. 😂
3 police officers in a tiny village, not the whole island

Iceland police don't carry guns? Can anyone answer that?
