Whenever I think of the Rutheless agression era, One of the first that comes to mind is this rivalry. They knocked it out of the park every single time whether it being promos or matches.
This is definitely one of the greatest rivalries in not just Ruthless Aggression, but in all of WWE history. The amount of pure hatred these 2 had for each other, and all the classics they gave us throughout the year, it was all amazing stuff. Also heel Edge was legit sickening, easily one of the greatest heels ever. So much nostalgia with this one.😌
Honestly WrestleMania 25 should have those two faced off against each other but unfortunately WWE just had to ruin it by adding the Big Show in the mix!
They really deserved it at WM 25 by that point they were at the peak of the powers and feud they deserved that one on one Mania match as the cherry on top…
This rivalry defined and dominated the Ruthless Aggression era for me. This rivalry had just begun when I first started watching WWE, and to this day, it is still one of my favorites. Edge and Cena are the GOATS.
@@Plugfuddah2knot only this, but narratively it would make sense too. He’s taken notes from ghosts of his fathers past, including Eddie. It would rhyme like poetry
Dom is not a main event talent, so he is not their best bet. He can get great heat, but there's nothing about Dom that says he can convincingly pass for main eventing the big matches at a show like _SummerSlam_ or WM.
Edge is an evil he is the worst being you could possibly imagine considering the things he did in the 2000s. But when he turns face he becomes the coolest superhero ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 He was the reason I started watching WWE again when he returned at Royal Rumble 2020. RA era is my favorite era of wrestling bc this is the era I grew up in. This was my rivalry as a kid, and looking back as an adult it’s pure gold. My fav rivalry ever. Literally the textbook definition of good vs evil. Absolute peak!
At this point I feel I would really miss Cena & Edge when they are gonna retire as most probably Edge will retire too in 1-2 years & Cena already announced that it will be his last pro wrestling run in 2025. John Cena is one of the greatest of all-time, especially when it comes to the sports entertainment side of professional wrestling. I would have loved to have seen what he could have done as a heel, but that was never necessary for what the WWE needed when he was at the top of the company. I think he would have thrived in any era, which I'm not sure you could say about other top guys in WWE history. Whereas Edge Had one of the most notable meteoric rises that I can ever recall in WWE because it happened organically and by way of hard work. He won every accolade that there was to win in the company and it felt like he won them all when he was supposed to win them, and how he was supposed to win them. The one thing I admire most about him is everything he said he was going to do, he did it despite all of the injuries, obstacles, and setbacks that he faced over the years.
I’d 100% say Cena’s best rival was Edge. They felt like they legitimately hated each other and their matches and segments together always delivered. I know a lot of people say Orton is Cena’s best rival but I disagree it felt forced and manufactured. Not to mention it went on forever and the matches weren’t great. They had some good ones but not as many as Cena vs Edge.
When I started getting into wrestling Edge had just won the WWE title from RVD and his rivalry with Cena was heating up heading into SummerSlam. I’ll always remember this as my first rivalry watching in WWE. Definitely a top 3 rivalry in my opinion

If Edge never had to retire in 2011, it would've been so cool to see him feud with Cena a couple more times and feud with the 'Best in the World' version of CM Punk. Just because this is my era. It has to be cena and punk
wwe was stupid not to have them have one last match at mania or summerslam before edge went to AEW.
I love John cena ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Orton is Cena's greatest rival
That feud while more iconic is very overrated in my opinion. It’s not doubt legendary but it’s had some low points and it went on for too long. Fans were already getting sick of it by the time the PG era started. Cena’s feuds with Edge and Punk never overstayed their welcome.
This was the rivalry right on
