Why does everyone think that they have to drive wide open ?? Are they afraid they’ll get stuck if they don’t. ?? I like to just creep along and enjoy the scenery. !! Lol
Always wondered, what kind of wear and tear differences do you see in sand vs mud? I'm assuming you'd run longer gearing for the sand? Do the mega trucks ever play in the sand?
More familiar with sand than mud but I'll give it my best answer. I've seen mega trucks but it's not common.. Sand is abrasive towards paint so on say 4 link tubing you need to use steel-it or powder coating, regular spray paint doesn't cut it. I've never seen it but I'm sure sand wears at moving parts faster than normal.. It does a lot to heat up an auto transmission (think of the resistance of running through sand). I'd imagine sand vehicles do use taller final drive compared to mud, as top speed for a vehicle that has serious suspension/chassis is over 100 mph.
@@menogusta9829 thank you☺️, I have ideas and thoughts but I always speak before I research and some how my foot ends up about ankle deep in my mouth😔. I'd assume sand would be harder on a mega truck vs mud simply because the absence of water. Mud when wet cools pretty well but mud holds quite a bit of sand and debris in as well....🤔 You know, now I'm really interested in knowing what it would take to build a dual purpose rig.
30 minutes from the house. Been there more times than I count. If your a gear head, get there. Trust me. Even if it’s in your wife suburban, to just watch!! Don’t need to beat, or race, but to watch!!!
I used to go at least once a year, now the place sucks. That place is to crowded on any weekend and holidays are just stupid. The place is to small of an area for the amount of people they let in. I go wheeling to get away from people.
Different types of park for different things. Still the save place just more people. I go to run my truck. But it’s in the sand. Only so much you can do before it gets boring. So sit back enjoy the show. Tons to see. There not the only place that’s gotten busy over the years. All orv parks and especially the trails!
That sounds like a great injustice to yourself. It's absolutely the best thing in the Midwest for ORV. I'd say nothing until you hit Colorado or Utah can compare.
You got a four-wheel drive truck make sure you lock outs work good put your tires at 9 lb and go up there if it ain't pretty and don't matter can't make the big hill it don't matter

What do you mean start line? You mean on the drag strip? It just a straight line. Line up run it, person at the other end first wins.

Well they will if there going up a hill. And the part is the drag strip. Sand dunes are kinda a place for putting the throttle down.
Cause we are gear heads.
Super simple question!!
Your not, that’s fine!!
If you “creep along” in soft sand, you’re going to get stuck. Forward momentum is your friend.
