- The End of Heartache by Killswitch Engage is a metalcore classic and Howard Jones' powerful vocal performance set the bar for an entire genre. Covering it was no easy task and surpassing it would be impossible, but we set out to create an alternative version that is interesting and powerful in its own right! What would this song sound like with modern metal trappings? Take a listen and find out! Then let me know in the comments - did we pull it off? Or should we have left this song in the 2000s.

The Djent of Heartache lol. But I honestly wish people did the old school 2000s melodic metalcore style with modern production and djentiness a bit more.
Ha! Thanks for the love! We totally agree! It's always cool bringing the modern younger crowds attention to some of the o.g.'s fan favorite songs and hopefully some of original listeners appreciate what we did with it! Ha! So this was a blast and a song that will always be in our hearts! We can't wait to play it live!
Damn this is gold
I never knew I needed to hear this! But damn I’m glad I did! Good stuff guys!
Love your channel, but the original is too perfect to mess with!
Thanks for checking it out! Ya the original is perfect! Ha we can appreciate that take and we agree! This was fun to do and mess with! Killswitch will always be in our top 5 influences and Howard is one of the greatest metal vocalists of all time! So we hope and personally believe we at least did it some justice! Ha!
@@SevenCitiesDead y’all did a bang up job for sure! I’ve heard that song so many times and I still look forward to Howard breaking in those vocals 🤌
Well I learnt something new.... Steve Buscemi can sing?
Ha this is my favorite comment yet! Lol! Thanks for checking us out!
-guy (Steve Buscemi look alike)
The cover doesn't capture the intended emotional depth of the original song. No thanks.
2:17 lasers!
caught me off guard but its nice to see that youre injecting your own bands sound into the cover instead of just performing it as is
Really Impressive! Wonderful cover)
Thanks so much dude! We had a blast making this and hope we did the original some justice! Thanks for the love!
@@SevenCitiesDead Your music is such a perfect hardcore, it just must be in my playlist. Keep it up! Good luck)
@TON-ly3cv thanks so much dude!
Was kind of expecting it to be a bit different other than transposing it to a dummy low tuning. Would’ve loved to seen some djent riffage or something. Nonetheless, really cool sound dudes!!
When underoath cover this sing
So the same but with a different singer?
This one is tuned way lower
This is like a BFMV cover of KSE and I freakin' love it! 😮
Goosebumps on my
c a l v e s 😂
Musically great but honestly not a huge fan of the cleans. No offense intended whatsover to the vocalist - I most certainly can't sing at all and don't claim I can do any better. But regardless, not a fan of the cleans.
Thanks for checking this out! And totally cool my dude! We understand Howard is impossible to top!! No apology necessary dude! Like what you like! We appreciate how you approached yout opinion on our singers voice and this song! Sometimes in our opinion people mistake stating their opinion and being rude ha. So we appreciate how you went about your take on this! Ha! Thanks for checking us out anyway my dude!
Fuck yeah badass cover!!!!
Thanks so much! Glad you dig it! This was a ton of fun to mess with!
Good job, for my ears you too close approached to original. What you use for guitar sound?
We sent this to get professionally mixed/mastered so I’m not sure exactly what he did, but last time we recorded in person with him he used kemper for guitar tones
Amazing job sirs!
Thanks so much dude! Glad you dig it!
Just listen to Light The Torch or Westfield Massacre. 🤘
Badass
So, pitched down with worse vocals??
It's always hard to determine how much to change and how much you should deviate! And Howard Jones is impossible to surpass. We can appreciate that sentiment! We were going for bringing an older classic song to a new generation with some added seven cities dead flavor. So we added a new backing harmony in all the choruses. A different vocal melody for final chorus. A extra harmony guitar at beginning with a new lead fill. Different more filly drums in second verse and a different vibe to second half of bridge that was heavier slower in nature! But we also understand your take that we didn't outright change entire parts or deviate far away from original! No matter what Thanks for listening and checking us out!
can there be an instrumental for this? i really wanna see how this sounds with the original vocals
Interesting idea! I’ll see if I can find an original vocal track.
@@ThomasHogue please do, I'm really intrigued about it
This is frickin great . Such a a cover 👍
not even close to 2023 modern metal
Legendary song. Hard to duplicate. Decent shot though. A solid C+
