Note the PC monitor in front of the conductor showing a large cursor over the current musical bar and a flashing bar metronome so he's perfectly in sync to the film. People are cheering because it's a movie with live music, it's not a night at the symphony. In 1977 the emotional swell of the movie and the soundtrack was palpable -- it was world-changing and nothing has been the same ever since. THAT'S why they're cheering -- because it's an emotional and nostalgic moment. Suddenly I'm 12 years old again and recalling the first time I saw it. John Williams has single-handedly created more classical music lovers in the last 45 years than anyone else.
It actually DID play at mine. Of course, folks showed up in formal dress. I showed up in robe, lightsaber dropped in a leather thong at my side. They actually let me pull it out and show off some.
Uauuu...!!! ESPECTACULAR!!! BRUTAL!!! La escena final de mi película favorita desde 1878, con una melodía sublime y maravillosa!!! Qué emocionante estar ahí!!!. Se me han puesto los pelos de punta!!!
Still wondering why the audience would clap, cheer and make noise while the orchestra is still playing. I mean, don't you folks came to the concert to listen to the music?
Thomas Bernhard Hengeveld I’m referring to the experience of seeing the movie and the integral role the music plays, especially in evoking the emotions felt...also if you notice, it is a screening of the movie as well, making it more visceral. Maybe not a Star Wars fan?
We're not as proper as Europeans or Asians but it's who we are. For us Star Wars is a celebration of film nostalgia and an insanely sublime musical composition and score.
The crowd ruined everything. Like you know in asia clapping and cheering during the show is the worst thing you can do. But oh well that is your culture.
If everyone cheers when John Williams appears during the credits sequence, you know you are one hell of a composer.
WWOOOWWWW ...... !!!
PERFECT TIME ..... !!!!
I'M ALMOST CRYING ....

As they should. The man is a genius.

@@lohphat well said. I’m seeing Hans Zimmer live in September. I’ll post some clips from him too.
'Music by John Williams'
**crowd loses their shit**
I want the Throne room theme to play at my graduation
We played The Throne Room as we entered our Wedding ceremony, and the End Credits played us out.
It actually DID play at mine. Of course, folks showed up in formal dress. I showed up in robe, lightsaber dropped in a leather thong at my side. They actually let me pull it out and show off some.
same
The crowd just HAD to pop off right at the best part
How many other films would you have where people not only sit through the credits but cheer them?
I hope I can watch it in theater for the first time. But it came out in 1977 and I hope I can watch all 3 Star Wars films at the movie theater.

I want this to play at the end of my wedding

Thomas Bernhard Hengeveld in the United States, cheering and applauding is a big part of movies
Thomas Bernhard Hengeveld nostalgia haven’t you experienced movies before
ballparkjebusite there is a big difference between going to a movie and going to a live orchestral concert (:

Then why even bother watching stuff like this if you knew that people cheering was going to make you cringe?
just watch the actual credit scene... don't bitch about someone's culture like that who tf cares
