For many years I had very oily skin. I couldn’t wear makeup without looking like I doused my face in literal grease after just a couple hours of wearing foundation. Thankfully birth control cleared that up a couple years ago. Probably the only thing that truly helped access sebum production for me. I consider it a blessing lol.
I remember when I first used niacinamide in skincare and was blown away by how much it helped lessen oiliness. I’m really glad I’m not sensitive to it because it really does help with so many things.

It’s impossible to reapply sunscreen on oily skin without washing my face. It guarantees giving me breakout cuz my sticky oily face tends to draw dirts, and reapplying sunscreen on my oil and dirt is disastrous. I know dr dray preaches about taking advantage of laying sunscreen, but it just doesn’t work for me. I usually use non water resistant sunscreen cuz it’s easy to be washed off to refresh my face before reapplying.

    • @dreamdollsforever270

Very bad to strip the skin barrier by washing repeatedly throughout the day. I would stick to rinsing with water only once a day and/or using the oiler, chemical sunscreens for the first half of the day and drying up the oil with mineral sunscreen the last half of the day.
Also, most sunscreens are gonna suck on our skin! The best are Black Girl Kids, and the next 3 which are dupes of each other: Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen, Black Girl Matte, and Trader Joe's Daily Facial SPF40. So try these if you haven't if you're looking for unseen and unfelt! Don't try her LRP recommendation, it sucks!!!!!!

Love the vibrant blue you're wearing today. Looks great on you. My skin just can't tolerate salicylic acid. I tried many brands including the Peach Slices one. Enjoyed this informative video. Thanks, as always, for all that you do for us. Happy Wednesday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a lovely evening. 💞

I've been using the Clear Face for about a year, on my oily skin. It's not bad, definitely less greasy than other sunscreens I've tried, but while it starts out clear, it becomes slightly white and patchy on me over just a couple hours. Thankfully I haven't had to go out much this last year, so I have some more time to keep looking for something that works better for me.

I think it was LabMuffinBeauty who suggested using a mineral sunscreen stick to the eye area and sunscreen lotion to the rest of the face to prevent burning of the eyes from the sunscreen traveling into the eyes..

Thanks for your contents. I'm a guy with oily skin in T zone - actually, mine isn't just a simple case of oily skin but I'm more on the seborrheic side, so my skin tends to be quite easily irritated and (sometimes) flaky. This is why I mostly tend to wash my face just once, in the evening, especially in colder seasons. Shampooing frequently (say, at least every 2-3 days) in order to keep dandruff under control seems to be essential. Cleansers with niacinamide, or azelaic acid derivatives are quite interesting and (provided they're mild and intended for daily use) quite well tolerated. As for moisturization and sunscreen, I'm currently loving some products from the brand Isdin.

I have oily skin but I only wash my face with water in the morning, then I like to use a BHA toner then sunscreen. At night is when I do my double cleanse routine and some adapalene... since doing that I haven't had major acne, just ocasional breakouts. Super simple routine that works! thanks all to you dr dray and your tips! You're a rock star!! thank you for all you do for us here in the internet world.

How are you able to remove all the residue of adapalene and oil produced overnight only with water? I can' t 😢. I wish I could but I need the most gentle cleanser, otherwise my own oil and my tret are still there and they sting my eyes🥺. Any technique trick? Thank you 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤 Greetings from Spain.

    • @raneximenes1685
      @raneximenes1685 2 года назад

@@sebumpostmortem the adapalene kind of balances out the skin so my skin its not very oily in the morning. Plus the more oil you try to “remove” the more your skin will try to compensate. Since I have been only using water in the morning my skin had been way more balanced. Plus the bha toner I use from Paula’s choice in the morning also helps with that. Your skin is not supposed to be completely matte, its healthy to have some oiliness on it. I never had issues with that stuff stinging my eyes either, other than certain chemical sunscreens. I usually go for mineral ones.

    • @raneximenes1685

Thanks for this truly informative video on oily skin care routine. I've noticed you mention Neutrogena products a lot, especially the NG salicylic acid cleanser, but unfortunately the place that I come from has only Neutrogena hand cream and lip balm... that's pretty much it :( so I use the cerave foaming cleanser, which has ceramides, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid and no salycilic acid. Well, I'll try to find something with salycilic acid in it to clean my skin in the morning, cause yeah I'm the type who likes to wash their face twice a day))) thank you for the tips, they're as always of great help.

Hi Dr Dray 🙋🏻‍♀️ one of your ✨Glazed Donut ✨ oily skin followers over here. I do wash my face 2x but because of your vids, I learned to use a super gentle non-foaming cleaner in the AM. I think that helped my skin a lot… must’ve been over-cleansing. In fact, now that I am more balanced at this point, it’s less about the face oil and more so about my eye boogers… 😅 I have dry eyes and other eye issues so I guess overnight my eyes try to wash out a lot and that buildup for me feels so gross.
And unfortunately, I can’t use SA because it’s contraindicated with my current Wenlevi topical acne cream. Do you have any tips with this Rx?? Excited to watch the rest of this vid 💜

I use the Biore Rose quartz charcoal cleanser in the morning and sometimes in emergency the cetaphil cleanser for oily skin only once and a while I love trying different cleansers for night time by Neutrogena, comfort zone and elf cleansers particularly. For sunscreen I think it’s good to wear a mineral one for oily skin . Sometimes the “oil control ones” or the “oil free” ones strip all your oil in fact most do and I don’t want to go for that look, like the Neutrogena spf 15 moisturizer and sunscreen for example, so I would not use those types all the time…I always double cleanse and I have that ponds one but NOT for summer …so, I use aveeno oil sometimes coconut sometimes grape seed oil I have to be careful of what I choose the palmers one is not bad but leaves a residue . But I always always use an oil cleanser as my first step twice a day.

Hope to find some affordable options here. Non comedogenic, non oily sunscreens are becoming a luxury with the cheapest around $2 a ml wich means around $35 a month for sunscreen, since using on face, chest, neck and reapplying once makes it go fast.

Im glad you mentioned Vanicream. Before finding your chanel I had been battling pretty bad acne for years. And after using Adapalene gel, benzoyl peroxide, Vanicream lite lotion and a sunscreen for a month or two the difference was dramatic. I was struggling so bad to find a moisturizer that didnt make my acne worse or irritated my sensitive skin and the Vanicream light lotion worked so well for that. After a year I started putting toners with niacinamide amd ceramides under it, and i love the routine even better that way. Im just extremely happy that i can get them in my nearby drugstore. Im aleays scared that they might discontinue it!
