    Recently re-watched this one since we're in the process of sourcing sleeve anchors. So that A4-70 hex tap bolt that Hobson is using is from the Chinese manufacturer Aozhan, their symbol being 3 peaks. Also China manufactures that style of threaded-cone. Regarding the sleeve origin, I do not know, perhaps Hobson is manufacturing it themselves or having an overseas manufacture make it. Aozhan themselves do QC and testing, they're a massive manufacturer, & their reports can be requested.

      Hobson also has trace numbers on their boxes, but the reports are just for measurement not strength.
      One of my boxes for example:
      www.hobson.com.au/testcert/2010511798
      Signature is Chinese so I assume they have some factory there that makes these for them. They also have factories here but I don't know what they make in them

    Great content mate, cheers. Seeing as you're taking requests I would be very curious to see some Hobson 10 & 12x100 316 wedge bolt tests, specifically in granite and decent quality sandstone..

      I think I have 12s but not 10s that long, only the shorter ones. Are you able to send me some?

    I’ve had a redhead sleeve anchor snap when I was torquing it down. It was plated steel as a temporary anchor that I could patch when I was done, but it totally would’ve failed under body weight. I refuse to use redhead brand stuff now cause it scares the crap outta me

      😬 that's no beuno! I've snapped bolts under torque in tests but at like double the torque they're rated for.
      What size were yours? Can you send me some or do you know if I can get them here?
      Edit, looks like they're Ramset brand dynabolts here. I have some but in metric size

      Mine were the 1/2in so 12mm would be comparable. I’ll see if I have some around but I think I tossed them. They are definitely plated. I have no idea why it snapped so easily but hopefully I just misread the torque specs. You seem to use similar style bolts, but they are stainless so I am sure they are better quality

      1/2in! Something that size shouldn't be twisting off with hand wrenches. I'm not sure what grade steel those are, but they rate them the same as the stainless. Spec sheet says torque to 25 ft lbs, so I doubt you'd be doubling that

    Never seen a wedge anchor with a screw on wedge.

      Flush heads! They're a type of sleeve anchor that give a nice low profile top finish. They're nice for climbing hangers but can be a bit fiddly to work with

    Hey! Nice vid. A non too-related question: have you used SS (304) threaded rods + SS hangers as glue ins?

    • @MountainMullet
      @MountainMullet  Год назад +1

      Sure have, but I use 316 rather than 304. Why do you ask?

      I'm interested in this as well. Do the hangers work well when combined with glued threaded rods? Climbing glue ins are too expensive in my country so I was thinking of using glued threaded rods
