Thank you so much for the guide! Now I am able to legally enjoy gauntlet dark legacy with higher resolution. I used two of your guides this one and how to dump my own ps2 games.😊
Yo, I'm looking to do the same thing. I used to love playing Gauntlet: Dark Legacy when I was a kid. I actually still have my old fat ps2, it doesn't play/work anymore but if I can get the bios from that and still play, I would love to have a Gauntlet series going here on my channel. If I can't get the bios from my PS2 I would still like to have a legal way of playing and featuring on my channel. Decided to edit this post instead of making a new post. I was able to extract the BIOs for PS1 and 2, however Norton security really didn't like me trying to run everything and it was an entire work around to enable Norton to run them. Now I have to find a way to dump all my old PS2 games so I can actually play these games with my new PS2 BIOs.

@@arrivederciheheeeeee5809 It's probably a legal grey area like most activities relating to backing up video games. It could be seen as circumventing some kind of TPM, but then there is also Fair Use and the fact that you aren't sharing it with anybody. We'll probably never know for sure because no company is ever going to take someone to court for backing up their own games/extracting BIOS files and so no case law will ever be created. That said, I think we can safely say that this method is closer to being legal than downloading it off a ROM site and nobody will be able to authoritatively tell you that what you're doing is wrong (even Nintendo won't say outright that backing up video games is illegal). Another way of looking at it is if you want to put yourself on the bell-curve of morality you would probably be in 95th percentile plus for gamers that use emulators if you get your BIOS this way. There are a lot of people that are going to sink first before you go down when you're in the 95th percentile!
Followed all steps and got the BIOS from the PS3 video. BIOS Selection only shows automatic. When I try to launch any of the game roms they won't launch. Any suggestions?
Wouldn't using decryption to leech those bios files out of PS3's firmware constitute a DMCA violation Section 12 related to using encryption to access content?
For Linux only the ps1 bin file populates after running the firmware_bios_claim,sh. It shows the message "PS2 emulator decryption failed? Decrypted elfs not found". Do you have any suggestions? Thank you
When I try to launch RSPC3 it says I'm missing a Vulkan file and that I should reinstall I do and try to launch and it gives me the same message. Any idea what's up?

Oh yeah, way simpler!

There's no option to download the PS3 System Software, is there anything I can do about it?
Why doesn’t anybody show the installing of pcxs2. That’s where I’m having the issues an every video they skip this strip.
Because we have whole playlists dedicated to it already.

i cant even transform the program to a folder, how did you did it?

You need a GPU capable of using Vulkan. You on a laptop?

Will this bios work for iphone app Gamma?
Thanks
so these bios cant run in retroarch?
They work fine on RA, check the video chapters
@@ArchadesGames sorry ik ps1 can but i was referring to ps2
It uses the same files as Standalone but RA PCSX2 shouldn't be used over standalone on any platform.
Even though it says Japan, will I still be able to play my USA games on the emulator?
They are region free BIOS so yup!

I don't use Linux so I can't help with it specifically.

Is it because I downloaded the 4.9 software update instead of the 4.89? 4.9 is the only one I see available.
It shouldn't matter if it is 4.90. I would try to do the initial install of RPCS3 again personally.

It is included with your GPU driver unless you're using an old Intel igpu
I'm using the Parrales VM on my mac mini for windows 11. Idk if that might be the issue. @@ArchadesGames
