Just finished changing out my rear door actuator on my 2009 BMW 328i. After watching your video the process made it much easier for me. Your video is very informative and the instructions are easy to follow. My wife is so happy that it now works as it should. 😅
One of the better videos on how to deal with the connections to the latch from the blind side. Most of all the other videos gloss over this and yet is a frustrating part of the repair. Thanks for taking the time to show us how you accomplished this repair.
One of the best BMW DIYs on RUclips. Replaced in under an hour and saved hundreds. Thanks so much.
Just a quick and sincere thanks, could not have completed the project without the video!
Thanks for doing this in a real time fashion and for including all of the little bits of info in order to do the job in an orderly manner. Great video.
Keep making more videos about your E90! I enjoy every one of them.
Since I posted my question I have carried out a front door lock replacement. It’s identical to the front other than you need to remove the bolt securing the lower window channel and slacking off the top one. With a bit of gentle persuasion the lock mechanism can easily be removed. 30min job start to finish.
Just replaced my left rear door actuator. Thank you for the accurate and detail replacement procedure.
Thanks a lot for the class! I learned all about it and did it myself. First, I was scared of even touching the thing. Now I just take everything apart with no fear of any kind. Thanks a lot, my friend. God bless you!!! Take care! Really have no idea of how much I was going to be charged to do this job which is so tricky!!! Isn't it? Have a nice time!!! Bye!!
Thanks a lot for the video mate! Did that today, was a bit of a fight as most of the replacements on my e90 but thanks to your video I managed to do that. Cheers, much appreciated! :-)
Many thanks! Replaced my actuator in ~ 1 hour following your video. Absolutely covered every step and "tricks" to get to some of the connections. Saved $$$ versus the dealer or an Indy. Keep it up!!!
Thanks for the video. It was helpful in finding the blown fuse in my car and resetting the battery.
Thank you my friend! I am no car mech. But this video helped me a great deal. I managed to do it perfectly using this video as a guide.
thanks for the upload it just makes me hate my piece of shit bmw E90
BMW E90 Sedan 335i Left Rear Door Lock Actuator Replacement DIY....Awesome step by step instructions. Thanks man. Can't wait to tackle the Android Auto On BMW CCC iDrive project with some ideas of my own. Very inspiring.
We need videos like these😊
Fantastic DIY vid. Was a huge help.
Thanks man by your video i done it by myself , and i was never done it before
GODBLESS MAN, saved me so much $$
Thanks so much for this! I'm about to do this on my E91 estate, rear right. Having seen the procedure helps immensely. I was thinking about tearing the door down, and then, given that like in the video, my door lock motor is able to lock, just nut unlock, sort of means it's alive. I figured that could mean some pulling wire has gone off some hook or something. But now after seeing the video, I'll just order the replacement motor and replace it, with this video to guide me. Thanks again!
Np! Glad you find it helpful. Cheap plastic parts are to blame.
Vehicular DIY Not sure why I postponed doing this until today. But it wasn't even hard, when I could watch this video while doing it. Thanks again.
not easy to come up with a detailed video such as yours, well done
Excellent video, thanks man!!!
Great job, thank you very much
A tool list would be extra helpful 😊
I used your video as reference. Thank you.
Thanks for the video!
Thank you so much mate!
Thank you for sharing ! Well done !
Thanks!
GREAT JOB !!! Very cool !
Massive Help.
Thanks!
Excellent video!!!
Thanks for the video, helped a lot! But I have one comment that no one mentioned.... THAT E30 m3!!!!!!
good video ! anyone notice the parts website from FCP or ECS don't show rear door part number, when you got your part was left front part number still good for left rear door ?
thank you
A spot on tutorial....thanks.
Have you made one for the front lock which appears a tad more problematical in that the window channel is in the way 😡😡
I haven't as of yet, once one of mine fail I'll be sure to do so.
Nice video. I have a 328i same year model. Was that rear actuator the same part number as the front? I know right/left are different obviously, but I can't find anything definite for front/rear.
Hi i have the same pronlem, but i can't open the door inside nor outside; i've already remodes the door trim and foam protective foam and figured out wiring. I know it is exactly the same scenario you have Thanks
Thank u great help
Glad it helped.
Instead if making a mess with the seal glue. Use a razor blade and cut throught it. It will not create strands and make a mess everywhere. Its easier to reinstall as well.
Another cool little thing that can be 3D printed :D
Very informative. My problem is that I can't open the door at all either from inside or outside. The actuator has malfunctioned and seized in the locked position. I've scoured RUclips without success. Lots of videos but not for this specific problem. Any suggestions? Thanks
thank you for the clear and calm vidéo. a question: you just don't disconnect your batterry?
Disconnecting the battery when working on your car is always a good idea but it's not required to do this job.
This was extremely helpful, thank you! After putting it all back together, I realized I didn't secure the puddle lamp wire to the actuator. Is the purpose of that to give clearance to the window as it rolls down?
Yeah as a precaution to avoid getting snagged up.
How did you open the door prior to removal of the actuator?
I see now, thanks. I did not see the first few seconds, lol.
God job bro
Thanks
I do not speak English.
so I do not understand the part where you talk about the courtesy lights on the door handle.
My car has a bad one, do you think I can replace it without having to disassemble the Door Lock Actuator?
Thanks for the help they are excellent videos
Just the light in the door handle is bad?
Absolutely love your videos! I've used a few of your tutorials to work on my car. I was wondering if you would be able to give me the part number for the rear left actuator as when i search for it only the front left actuator comes up. Are they both the same actuator? Thank you in advance and keep up the informative videos !
Did you find an answer to this? BMW on Amazon says the part number is 51-22-7-202-147, but when i search by that part number, all other sellers say it won't fit my 328i 2007. It's very confusing.
Yes i did find the correct part and yes it was fairly confusing. The part number you listed ended up being the correct one for my year. Unfortunately, BMW makes it even that much more difficult to get the correct part, by having different part numbers based on the year and MONTH your car was produced..... I used realoem . com to pin point the proper part # for my BMW's year and month. Using that website was very beneficial, it also gives you the "updated" part #. I wish you the best of lock lol (pun intended). If you have any other inquires feel free to ask.
is rear driver lock actuator same as the driver side lock actuator?
I'm going out to buy the tools. What sizes are the screws?
do you by any chance have an exact OE part number for this?
How many PINS has de conector??
7? Or 5?
What is the part number for this!! I cannot find it for the 2008 335i
+Vehicular DIY you can actually fix that actuator. you just need to buy those plastic parts. You can look on ebay for example for Central Door Lock Repair Kit. I've just fixed two door locks, and going to the 3rd.
Nice, how much did that cost you?
4 doors 35€ :)
@@franciscotaborda6708 have the link?
Part number??? Are the front and rear interchangeable?
Thanks for the video. I have an issue with my rear left on my E90. Do you know if there's a way to open the door manually from inside? I have the door card removed and it opened a couple of times initially from inside using the internal latch, but now it won't open. The mechanism just rattles when I use the remote fob, but the door lock doesn't open, so i can't remove and replace the lock.
did you ever figure this out? im in the same boat
@@taylorgiroux9870 it was a while ago now. I think I removed the metal lever from its plastic mount that operates the lock and used a flat head screw driver to turn the mechanism inside. I think it was inserted at an angle but possible to do if you persist.
moi pour la vidéo,je doit changer ma serrure arrière gauche cela vas bien m'aidée,vue les prix que pratique bmw,je vais économisé minimum 65€
Hello I'm having this issue with my door but the door is sealed shut stuck, any ideas on how to open the door to swap the actuator? Thank you
I had the same issue, i removed the door panel from the inside, pulled back the insulation and reached in. On the actuator itself theres a tab that hooks the cable from the handle if you reach in there and push down on that tab it will open the door, so you can finish the job like he does in the video. Hope this help and Good luck.
@Vehicular DIY 1:30 I see the circlip that attaches to the door lock rod. Does that need to be inserted into the actuator before the lock rod goes in? After fixing a regulator, I broke a circlip by slamming the door closed on the dangling lock rod. Bought a new circlip and put it on the lock rod first. Now unable to pop the lock rod into the actuator.
Yeah the lock rod should snap into that after it's already inserted into the actuator.
Vehicular DIY yes I went ahead and tried that. Turned out my lock rod wasn't properly bent back into shape. The lock kept sticking in the grommet. Made a small adjustment and all's good now. Nice informative video. Something to keep in mind if I need a full repair.
I changed my rear door driver side actuator, every thing went well except I am not able to open from outside. Any suggestions?
Check the cable that goes from the outside door handle to the actuator. Perhaps that is binding up.
Whats the part number and where did you purchase the actuator?
@@lilclipps Yes, I need this too!
Hello I did this but now the door doesn’t open at all, it feels like it doesn’t pull on nothing when trying to open it from inside or outside, any idea how I can open?
The interior door handle has no resistance?
Excellent! Thanks for showing Me! I am doing the same job in my car thanks to you! Take care, my friend. Good luck and very long life to you. Bye!!! The next job I have to do is to change the motor to raise the window which just broke when I opened the window. Boomers!!! I start to hate the car. Everything is starting to brake. How cheap all the materials they use!! But it is not your fault anyway. Heheheheheheh!!!! Bye for now! ! !
a lot of plastic been used inside the actuator, no wonder it failed, the designer of BMW should be blamed.
