Thanks, Ben for taking the time to make this video. It is not a new strategy and unfortunately it no longer works. A random date - 1st May 2019, there were 35 UK races. Using Betfair's Starting Price History resulted in: 19 races where just 1 horse dropped below 2.00 in running (-19pts) 11 Races where 2 horses dropped below 2.00 (break even) 4 races where 3 dropped below 2.00 (4pts profit) and just 1 race where 4 horses dropped below 2.00 (2pts profit). A total for the day of -5 pts loss. Another random date: 26th July 2019 - 41 races resulted in -18pts loss. And a 3rd date: 16th August 2019: 41 races with -5pts loss. Even with filtering - say sprint races, would not (in the examples) have produced a profit. And lowering to odds to 1.75 gave: +0.75pts, - 13.75pts and -0.75pts. At odds of 1.5 it is: +5.5pts, -10.5pts and +0.5pts. Yes, only 3 (random) days but I would suggest that this strategy is no longer much used because it is not profitable in the long-run.

Madness to do it on distances like this especially with irish racing and the shenanigans that go on there.

Tried Laying the Field on pre selected races in Australia (Flemington and Randwick) on saturday for the first time using certain criteria and on 9 races using 1.7 and a stake of $10. Lost on one race. Even with small profit on 4 races and won laying on 3 or more for a profit of $48. All done manually and was heaps of fun. With the Spring carnival just warming up and big competitive fields it should be fun.

I have found similar in the 2 horse race match ups but they are rare to come across. You need both horses around 2.0 at the start of the race. You can then get matched multiple times at 1.50 too.

I like this. It's not going to produce a regular income, but if you use the correct filters - large field, about 1 mile, at least 2 (pref 3 or more) evenly matched likely front runners - then even if you only get to use it a few times a week it's icing on the cake. An extra £30-£40 here and there will do nicely thank you. I'm not going to say no just because I can't use it on every race.

As for myself, I finalised on my third multimillion pound property in Toronto, just before the first lockdown. So London is my base, I have a property out in Portugal on the outskirts of Lisbon for when I want to surf, and I went for Toronto because I like the place ... although it's only warm two months of the year there, regardless of what anyone else tells you … it's freezing most of the time.
My properties are all staffed, and are for personal use for myself, family and friends, not a 'buy-to-let' situation! Again, all the properties were well over the million mark, paid for in cash, no mortgage. So salty I'm most definitely not. I have nothing to be salty/bitter about as I made myself financially secure many years ago. Now I play for fun, using money from the interest off my various investments ... but not using this strategy, obviously!

However - I don’t know much about racing. There are like 57 flat race courses in uk & Ire. For me to look at say 15 historical races (a mile and under, big fields etc), then look at what prices were achieved in each race to gauge the profitability cos a big job. Is it worth it? Am I wasting my time?

That's funny. Reminds me of a very simular method in the Footy Score Market I developed and used some years ago. And it was very successful for a while. The method was to lay every score when the price fell below 6.0. All you needed were games with a couple of goals (the more the better, and the later the better, too) and results not going the expected way (something that happens very often with Football). Imagine, you lay 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 and then suddenly 3-1 come out of the blue at min 85 and you are in full profit. As always, finding the right games is key to be successful. Ah ... before I forget - one more rule - never lay AU :-) - as this result is sticky! As I said I don't use it anymore, so be careful.

I trade horse racing in-play exclusively and I knew this strategy in my first steps in this world and I never used it and here is why:
Horses hitting those points and getting your lays matched means it gotta be a really tight race and this usually happens in the last 3 or 4 furlongs, two, three or four horses gotta keep pretty tight at that point in the race. This does not happens pretty often. Also, the strategy exclusively depends on good race selection and you are working with every horse in the race, this means you gotta be sure about the performance of some of your selections and that's not as simple as some people may think. It's all about choosing really competitive races.
In conclusion: the strategy is simple to execute but hard to predict how prices will move and how tight and competitive the race will be. I'm not even sure if this works in a better way in flat or national hunt. Also, this strategy is well known by everybody, in-play traders (well, every trader) should go for the unknown and personally created strategies. The strategy sure works, but there is no strategy that works for everyone, this one is pointed to those who are clever and can find really competitive races, that's all the key to make this strategy a profitable one
Good video, you were pretty honest with the pros and cons, hope to see more about horse racing in your channel!

In theory this strategy is great, but in real life it is not. I've personally tested it months ago, using software(to make my life easier), but it works sometimes.Basically you need at least two horses to have odds less than 2 to be in profit or breakeven, but in UK and IE races it rarelly happens. Tried it also on US, NZ, AU, SA and FR markets and the situation is similar. I guess it's not just mathematics, many other factors are involved.

, there are much easier trades to be made in play using skill and judgement, this is just gambling, long term its a slow death as far as your bank is concerned, if you are going to try this I would say lay at intervals, for instance 2.5. 2. 1.7 .1.5 gives you a better chance of not losing as much as the other runners should trigger, I do trade horse racing mostly inplay but would never use this, sorry to be negative.

@@SportsTradingLife Youre much better off getting live pictures like you do from the bookmakers use trading software, a good tatic is to look for signs of distress at about the 3 f mark, if the horse is getting pushed along and the leaders are travelling smoothly then that horse is going at full throttle just to keep up then you would look at laying it, of course be wary of races over the jumps, you would have to watch a lot of races to feel comfortable with this and also some camera angles at certain courses are not good, so theres one mr troll from below thats one exanple , work the rest out for yourself.

mark Jackson you are quite correct in your observations. When this strategy was first conceived it must have seemed very clever and probably worked quite well initially. However as in-play trading quickly caught on and more and more professionals started trading on course with no picture delays and better views of of the action it became a lot harder for off course traders. I believe a lot of on course traders just wait until the last 100 yards where by then you already have a clear winner. This is particularly true in competitive races where no one wants to take too short a price about anything even a furlong out as several could be in contention but somehow one horse suddenly goes odds on because of the on course traders and that horse is the winner. The only realistic way you'll get this to work is if the lead changes in the last 50 yards and although you see this happen, it doesn't happen often enough to be profitable. I've experienced and others have pointed out where 2 have hit the line together yet only 1 may have traded odds on and even lost in the photo! I think these days you have too much against you for this to work long term.

@@MichaelWilliams-mo1vv Hi Michael, Ive had a go at on course myself at Pontefract using the method you stated above, difficult is my word word experience of it. If i was ever to consider doing it again I would set up as follows, you need two of you, one at the course positioned between 1 f and finish line the other at home on computer, mobile phone connection, one needs to be very good at race reading, other needs to be quick and proficient on software, your going to be getting odds of 1.4 region for the place market, any mistake would ruin your day , personally I wouldnt trust anyone else at either.

Watched the video and tried it. I followed exactly what you said but went for £10 instead of £50. But, I had one horse that was matched at 1.12 and cost me £2.40 for £20. I can’t work out why that was?

First my English is not very good so I hope you will understand my message
Second I just subscribe to your channel last week and I already watch half of your videos or what I am trying to say is I love your channel
Third I am not a trade I just use normal betting but I still learned a lot from your videos
So finally I have a question and I hope you will answered
What the advantage of using trade betting or what I mean is it better to bet on sports using normal bet or it's better to bet using trade

I remember you said in one of your videos that as a trade you are relying on the market movement but you can do the same if you are using a normal bet or fix odd but you need to watch the game live so you can take the advantage of the market movement

There are many advantage but the main advantage is that if you win on the exchange you will not get your account shut down. If you win on a bookmaker you will not last long.

The same system could be used by a million different people with a million different results. If you don’t paper trade something you’re not familiar with before putting in your hard earned money then you deserve what’s coming. Caio Schumacher you are quite correct. I've tested this strategy fortunately with small stakes. I've succeeded around 25% , broken even around 25% and lost the other 50%. And yes I've had it happen to me where 2 have been in a tight photo but only the eventual 2and traded odds on! More often than not with this strategy you'll only lay the winner or just break even. Also with jump racing you find you get a breakaway group of maybe 3 or 4 horses and only be matched on 1 (the winner). This is not a profitable strategy long-term .
