Root Beer Float Freezer Pie - No Bake
Ingredients
1 prepared shortbread pie crust 9 inch
8 oz homemade whipped topping or cool whip, thawed
3.4 oz box vanilla pudding mix
¾ cup root beer (your favorite brand)
½ cup cold milk
Decorate pie with maraschino cherries and extra whipped topping
*In large bowl, using an electric hand mixer, beat together pudding dry mix,
milk and root beer for 2 minutes until it forms a pudding consistency.
*Fold in ½ (4oz) whipped topping or cool whip until well blended.
*Pour pudding mixture into pie crust evenly.
*Spread remaining (4oz) whipped topping over pudding mixture.
*Cover & freeze for at least 2 hours until set.
*Garnish with additional whipped topping and cherries.
*Freeze leftover pie.

So if you use orange crush with the vanilla pudding, you can make a creamsicle pie and garnish with mandarin oranges.

I believe Watkins makes a "root beer" flavoring you could also use possibly in your whipped topping and it would take the place of the ice cream taste that comes with mixing a float🍺

Actual root beer sounds much more appealing than root beer-flavored Kool-aid. (gross)

I literally just made this using an almond flour crust. Also diet rootbeer and sugar free pudding ingredients. It's in the freezer now.

I totally agree with your preference for using real whipped cream instead of other whipped topping. The real thing is SO much better and makes all the difference! I love root bear, so this looks really good to me! Yum!

I was so curious about Root Beer Kool Aid and had to look it up. I had never heard of that flavor and I love Root Beer!!! Here is what I found:
Was there ever a Root Beer Kool-Aid Flavor? The original - came in six : Grape, Orange, Cherry, , Lemon Lime, and Raspberry.
When did they stop making Root Beer Kool-Aid? was back in mid 70's. in late 70's.

I sure wish my local grocery stores carried a shortbread crust. I didn't even know they existed until I saw you use one. It looks so good and would be a great addition to many of my recipes. This looks SO refreshing. I definitely will be making it for my family. Love your channel.
Wal-Mart sells them along with even the Oreo crust but they do well out so maybe that's why you haven't seen them

Hi Catherine from another Catharine 🇨🇦😊. Thank goodness you’re not using Cool Whip! Gross stuff! Another float that is fantastic is Orange Crush pop with vanilla ice cream. Really foams up in the glass when you put the ice cream into the glass with a small amount of the pop in it. Once you have as many scoops of ice cream in as you want, then I recommend holding the glass over the sink while very slowly pour in the pop. It is sooooooo refreshing! I’m going to try this pie with A&W Root Beer, then I’ll ty one with with Orange Crush. YUM!! Thank you for hoping this recipe. 😊😊. Cathy

FWIW, there are A&W root beer flavor packets, intended for use in a bottle of water. You can usually find them at a dollar store. Most I've seen are sugar free. This may have been what your sister was talking about. I bet you could add one or two of these packets to your recipe to really boost the root beer flavor...😉
