Another little at home tip instead of transparency sheets or wax paper (FYI a little messy): Print image on regular copy paper, coat with regular cooking oil (do a LITTLE BIT at a time), rub it into the paper until the whole sheet or image area is transparent, wipe off excess FULLY, and use!
Cecilia Salcedo yes! I took a screen printing class and this is the way we prepped our papers before exposing them! Just use the baby oil and let it dry out :D
your editing is actually really nice! for example just simple things like keeping your voice going as there is a time lapse makes the video feel really smooth and flows well.
It's definitely a cool format. I usually don't care much for side "characters", but you got some hilarious friends, a dope bond with the sis and your format was perfectly spot on. Looking forward to more of your vids dude! You always make them so perfect!
I tried this in fashion class and I found out a similar result with the stockings so when doing this project I do recommend that you use a non stretch fine meshey fabric. And in addition to school glue you can use modpodge to fill in holes! I didn’t know that you could use acrylic paint though and that’s pretty rad!

first off dude.. you're a genius for figuring this out. Also, it does make sense that the chiffon works better than the pantyhose because the chiffon is a woven fabric with little to no stretch where the pantyhose is a knit that needs a lot of stretch to do its intended job!!
So when I made my skateboard inspired by your art style, I also got to design a t-shirt using silkscreen. We also used the transparent paper to make our screens so that way is the best (in my opinion)
Ah, this is an old video, but hot tip to reduce the risk of “blowout”: Rather than trying to push the ink straight from the blob (right out of the paint bottle, or collected around the edges) to the target surface (paper, shirt, roomba), you can pre-load the design with a bit of ink so that the coating is relatively light, then press _that_ into your surface. This works best if you’re loading the front of your screen (so the ink from the initial pre-load doesn’t touch the surface until you want it to). (I’ve only used screen printing ink, before, though, and I’m not sure if this applies as well to more general paint.) Additionally, it’s best if you can get the design on in one decisive sweep, rather that a couple swip-swips, because when you do that, the screen will push against the surface a couple times, picking some ink up and (1) depositing it where you might not want it, and (2) blur the design on your next surface as well.
Because Elmer’s glue is fairly water soluble, it would have probably worked out a bit better if you had just painted the design with acrylic and let it dry since it would be far less likely to come off wile rinsing. Plus, then you could use colored paint to see your design more easily! I’ve been really into stamp carving on my channel lately, so printmaking is the natural next step. I remember seeing a similar method on another channel and thinking the exact same thing. =>..
@@Shri100percent yes because acrylic dries and becomes waterproof, unlike gouache or oil (the latter dries out really slowly). you are basically creating a paint crust that will shield the negative parts of the design and prevents ink or paint you want to print with from leaking through the fabric.
You seem a lot happier and more comfortable in this video, I don't think I've ever heard you laugh before this one. I'm glad you look to be doing/feeling really good!

I've watched your tutorials for a while now but I just saw your Hall of Breakfast video and am officially shook that you're from Utah! All we ever get here in regards to youtubers is family vloggers
I attended a summer workshop about screenprinting this July and, after we had put the emulsion on the screen, we would draw something on the back of the screen, free-hand whatever we wanted with 1-3 tones (some gradation could be achieved), using a black oil pastel, like the ones for lithography (there was a workshop for lithography too so we had a lot of these). Afterwards, we would let the screens "develop" I guess in the sun -a process rather fast, since it was in the middle of the day in July. Then one of the instructors rinsed them all off, the oil pastel went away as well (leaving just a faded trace behind, they called it "ghosting") and they were ready to print. Also, you first load the screen and the design with ink, drag it down once, back up again while it's in the air and THEN you put the paper or the fabric you want to print onto underneath your screen and repeat the process, making sure every time you lift the screen to change paper to push the ink back up, to the top, feeding the design again. A really useful tip they gave us was not to pull the ink too much to the sides since that would mean it would spread too much and we would lose a small amount of it with each print. And, let me tell you, that shit costs a lot, especially when you are looking to produce high quality prints for clients and not just as a hobby.
