I don't understand chess, but i love that its a game where the only limitations are strategy. Its a game that brings everyone together for a battle of wits
What I love about chess is that both players start with the same amount of matter, same amount of time, and the same amount of space. Only difference is that one player moves before the other. But anything can happen in the end. It's a contest of wits, after all. As Baldwin IV once said, "The whole world is in chess..."
@Ïurossa Michaelhayes probably means that he loves how chess is 100% strategy even though he's personally not especially skilled at strategical thinking. Anyone can become better at strategical thinking but it's not a necessary skill for most people compared to skills like negotiation, organization, communication, practical stuff. However, most people still think strategical thinking is cool even though they're not interested in doing it themselves, like how sports fans usually don't play the sports they like. If michaelhayes actually meant that he doesn't understand the basic rules of chess, like how all the pieces move, umm... then I agree with you, I don't think it's possible for him to respect the strategy of chess if he literally doesn't know its rules.
"However, in a shocking turn of events, Magnus saw the trick.." 😂😂😂😂 He speaks like he was actually expecting Magnus to not realize and go like "Ooh ooh, free Rook"
You'd have to be really terrible at the game in order to be unable to last more than seven moves against Magnus. Surviving at least 20 moves should be easy for the majority of players. If you're stalling instead of trying to win the game, then reaching 50 moves shouldn't be too difficult for an average player.
@Accrovideogames If you're not above 2k, he would slaughter you with tactics in the first 10-15 moves. Then, it's just a matter of trading to an endgame if you don't blunder a quick mate. Playing defense the entire game wouldn't guarantee 30 moves against Hikaru, Fabi, or Alireza (among a few others), and Magnus beats them regularly. The vast majority of people are below 2k.
