In rising of the shield hero, his weapon class “shield” was the weakest of his peers and basically useless on his own since all he had to fight with were defensive stats and a shield and his peers abandoned him. He was on that grind day and night until he became the strongest out of his entire world, and has no heart for the world around him and acts like he doesn’t care that he helps everyone out of bad situations to uphold his stone-cold image. That’s why I love the aggression of his verse and the confidence in his voice cuz he’s that GUY

@@PocketAceMerlin since I haven't seen the show I can't comment on whether he could have done more but I will say from the sonics and writing stand point he killed that verse to me.
Dragoon is an actual thing, so Shao wasn't twisting dragon. It's an rpg class. Absolutely no idea about its context in the show though since I have less isekai knowledge than anyone.
It's also a historical term for soldiers on horseback hence why the vid showed a cavalry

I think most games/shows do dragons as 4 leg, dragoon can either be the two legged sprinter variant (think like a raptor) or the two arm wyvern style riders.
aren't dragoons the ones that ride dragons or am I mistaken
Dragoon was initially basicaly a name for an infantry soldier on horseback. (Rode on horses but didn't fight as cavalry but as infantry)
To give you a better understanding of the “make a hater cry like Rem” line:
Spoiler warning, though I was as vague as I could be:
Rem is a very traumatized character and Subaru helps her to get past it, and in the scene they share at the end of the arc, we see her cry from his encouragement and kindness, when she’d typically been pretty emotionless prior to that.
As for the rejection you heard about, after Subaru went through some horrible experiences, he believed he was worthless and wanted to run away. She reminded him of all the good he had done and confessed her love in the process; him saying he loved a different girl was his way of saying that he had snapped out of his funk, as his love for that girl was blatantly obvious for the entire show and he had been acting like he didn’t care about her anymore in that episode because of how depressed he was. And she wasn’t sad at his rejection. In the show’s dub her response is literally “I know.” She wasn’t confessing so that he would love her.
Side note, it’s not just Rem that helps him through stuff. Emilia, Otto, Best Girl Patrasche, Echidna, Naoto, and Kenichi all have moments where they try to get him back on his feet.
Also ReZero is a masterpiece and everyone needs to watch it.

VI Seconds: Naofumi (Rising of the Shield Hero)
"I'm armored up for all situations
Plus three and still upgrading"
-The magic that Naofumi and the other heroes use does use an RPG-esque interface, but more importantly, the shield can be "fed" scraps from enemies which unlocks new abilities, giving him a new shield for any situation
"They paint me out to be something hated
Still most effective, there's no debating"
-I'm not sure if this is a spoiler since it happens in the first episode and sets up the main conflict for most of the series but the princess accuses Naofumi of assaulting her which paints Naofumi as a bad guy to pretty much everyone else.
-Despite this, Naofumi ends up doing the most good for the world out of the four heroes and all around is a better hero.
"Na na na, they love me and I'm making a killing
But never get it twisted, I be moving like a villain"
-Because of the whole "accused of assaulting the princess" thing, Naofumi becomes a part-time merchant while travelling to make up for the fact that the king doesn't pay him for defending against monsters
-Naofumi ends up acting kind of dickish at points. His mentality becomes "if everyone says I'm a villain, might as well play the part".
Shao Dow: Itami (GATE)
"Itami, girls call me daddy
Roll with a mage, an elf, and shinigami"
-Referencing the main characters Lelei, Tuka, and Rory respectively
-Tuka in particular is interesting here. To cope with the loss of her father, she hallucinates and sees Itami as her father. Yeah... I'll just leave that there.
"Run up on your GATE barefaced no bally
And I'll punch up a prince, yes I will no Harry"
-Plot summary: a random portal to a fantasy world (called the Gate in the show) in modern day Japan and so Japan sends its military to investigate
-Referencing Prince Harry of course, but also the fact that Itami once decked the prince of the fantasy world once. It was awesome.
"Bring a gun to a sword fight if they try me,
if I run the it's alright, never find me"
-It's the modern-day Japanese army versus a Roman-inspired fantasy army. How do you think it'll go down?
-One of Itami's biggest strengths which gave him notoriety in the army is his ability to run and hide really well. I'm not joking.
"Jietai kare no chi nite kaku tatakaeri"
-"Thus the JSDF Fought There"; the show's official subtitle
"So don't bring war to my corps or my platoon
We'll lay the C4 blow your force like a balloon"
-Itami's solution to a dragon that has been terrorizing the countryside? Blow its nest sky high with a bunch of C4 when it comes to rest.
This is just what I caught that wasn't as obvious. I'll be happy to see what everyone else catches.

I love your knowledge of Overlord, which is one of the best isekai series imo. Most in reactions I've seen, people kinda skip over it because of Rustage's surprise verse, and it's a shame because Shofu did an awesome job rapping as Ainz.

Dragoon is mounted infantry, so soldiers who ride horses but dismount and be effective soldiers on foot rather than only fight from horseback. Though it is close to Dragon so it's a play, but dragoon is a word on it's own.

Im suprised how so few nerdcore reactors know any of these shows. Ive seen every show except sword and theyre all some of my favs, with shield hero and no game no life in my top 5. Also if anyones wondering the japanese in the middle of shaos verse is a joke since that very screen shows up in the middle of every GATE episode.

Argo is also the name of the informant player in Sword Art Online progressive, the series that tries to show the full level by level journey of Kirito in Aincrad. That's probably he wouldn't trust Argo in the verse since Argo could sell his info just like how he might buy info from her.

So gate actually has a really long name in Japanese and that was what he said when the logo was up and it's a story about how a gate opened up in Japan and the military goes over into a fantasy world to fight have diplomatic relations it's not really clear but itami the main character was part of their army and it was his off day and he's a super bigotaku and he was going to a place to buy anime stuff when the gate opened in the town city that he was in and because of this he gets put up to go to the fantasy world and he ends up having an elf a mage and a shinigami all fall in love with him any punches of Prince which is what the I will know Harry bars about
So the special region is what Japan ends up calling the fantasy world and a dragoon is actually a kind of fantasy fighting unit where the person riding on a dragon

If you’re referring to ReZero, that’s some of the least forced shit I’ve ever seen. He does genuinely love her and there is a What If timeline where he does run away with Rem and lives a happy life. He adores Emilia, and her dying literally wouldn’t affect him if he didn’t.

Reinhard kills Puck so if Subaru hadn’t been at the mansion nothing would’ve happened to him.
