⛔️What I already learned from this new video:👇👇
    1. Metalheads don't like you saying that Metal is a genre of Rock
    -> Okay, I didn't know that.
    2. Some people insist on saying that I'm making comparisons or ranking singers.
-> In the video, I literally say, "Let's see a list of some Japanese rock singers that I think might like. Is your favorite singer in the list?"
I also say in the video, "Tell me who your favorite singer is, and let's make a part 2 of this video!"
(These videos require a lot of time and effort, so I can't include all the good singers in a single video. I hope you understand)
    3. Some "fans" (or little kids) watch the video and simply start criticizing other singers and bands for no reason.
(As I learn more, I will update the list)

Whether or not something classifies as metal seems to be a never-ending debate, as is it's potential distinction from rock. I think the definition of metal has evolved over the decades. So many sub-genres of metal these days, but ultimately I personally still consider it an evolution within the wider rock genre.
I mean, some folks no longer consider the original heavy-metal pioneers of the early 70's as metal; something definitely gone off the rails there...

Long ago gave up on putting music into categories. It only upsets the 'experts'. Always admit what I don't like but don't say things I don't like are bad. People will always find something to moan and criticise. Don't be put off continuing to put out great videos. Most of us really enjoy them.

Thank you for your attempt to ask fans about their favorite vocalists.
No matter what anyone says, metal is officially one of the rock genres. Yes, some people may not like it. But this is the reality. It’s just that many are accustomed to a short version of the designation of a band (according to the music it performs) - “metal band”. In a broader sense: all the bands we call "metal bands" are "rock bands playing metal." Personally, I prefer to use the expression "metal band". But if someone says, for example, that METALLICA is a rock band, I will not be indignant. Because I think both options are acceptable. If only because METALLICA was inducted into the famous 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame'. And she considers it an honor to be accepted into this Hall.
And JUDAS PRIEST (and previously BLACK SABBATH ) were also officially inducted into the 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame'. They are proud of this and also consider it an honor to be in the 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame'. Moreover, many great metal bands dream of getting into this Hall !
Another example for those metal fans who do not accept the word “rock”. In June 2024, Japanese bands LOVEBITES, BABYMETAL, CRYSTAL LAKE will perform at the largest 'Hellfest Summer Open Air' in France and one of the largest in Europe.
OFFICIAL: 'Hellfest Summer Open Air' is a ROCK festival dedicated to heavy metal music. Four days. Six stages for bands to perform. More than 180 bands have already confirmed their participation in this festival.
LOVEBITES will perform on the “MainStage01”, where MEGADETH, METALLICA, MACHINE HEAD, AVENGED SEVENFOLD will also perform.
BABYMETAL will perform on the "MainStage 02", where BRUCE DICKINSON, STRATOVARIUS, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN will also perform
A logical question for those who believe that “metal is not rock”... Why then do such famous metal bands want to perform at this ROCK festival ...? 😳In my opinion, this convincingly explains that metal is part of rock.🤗
In conclusion. Official division of music: “There are only four musical directions: folk music, sacred music, academic music and popular music. Each direction includes a number of musical genres and each genre has many subgenres. “Rock music” is a general name for a number of areas of popular music. The word "Rock" indicates the rhythmic sensations characteristic of these movements, associated with a certain form of movement, by analogy with roll, twist, swing, shake...
Rock music has the largest number of directions (about 180): from fairly “easy” ones, such as dance rock and roll, pop rock, merseybeat, to aggressive ones - heavy metal, glam metal, thrash metal, black -metal, brutal death metal, grindcore, etc."
I could give many more facts, but then the text would be very, very long. Thanks for the video!😊

Don’t get confused by self defined experts and gatekeeper who only feel the need to show the audience their lack of knowledge in music history and music in general. This debatte is so old and smells funny since quite a while already. The pioneers who where called heavy metal back in the days will be seen as Hard rock mainly these days. Metal itself has so many subgenres who are somehow difficult to compare too, e.g. power-, doom- or prog-metal and the most diverse, creative and interesting bands mix many styles and genres freely that they play outside of those small boxes. For people who only feel comfortable in clear black and white worlds, this is an unparalleled imposition hard to swallow 😊
You presented some great singer and were even so smart to avoid a ranking and ask what is our favorite. It’s actually quite simple, nothing to feel sorry about it 🤘

Her voice has the perfect qualities for the musicianship of the rest of the band - I find perfection even in the imperfections of her voice that keeps me coming back for more every time. ❤ I agree with you though, that each of the vocalists featured in this vid brings something unique and outstanding to the table - great vid as always! 🤘

Sumetal has a very clean, powerful, well-trained voice which I respect, although I can’t get into Babymetal’s music.
Saiki’s the only singer who has brought me to tears in public, though (Yokohama Arena). She’s expressive, emotional, raw, and sometimes you don’t even need to know the lyrics to know what the song’s about, which is absolutely crazy. I don’t know how she does it.

I've seen all these vocalists live (and many others inevitably not on your list). For stage presence Mayu of Nemo is extraordinary. There's a feline power to her stage persona, plus the recent ballad "Odyssey" shows how she's grown as a singer. For versatility Asami of LB. I've seen her do a solo concert covering everyone from Chaka Khan to Heart, and also backing a J-Pop singer on tour when she did harmonizing and also lead. The range of styles she excels in is extraordinary. Akane of East of Eden might get the highest score on a karaoke machine, she is a mimicry expert and has the ear and technique to sing in any style from enka to metal. But picking a favorite from among such talent is impossible.

@@ChadTheDragonLord I didn't see the most recent one, though did see the 2020 Christmas show and a solo show she did back in 2014. Plus the J-Pop singer's concert last summer. The solo shows were excellent, covering singers like Roberta Flack, Celine Dion, Chaka Khan and the Eagles, Oasis, and Heart among others. Much less of the belting or pronounced vibrato you get from Asami with LB, because, obviously, she wasn't fronting a metal band playing at full blast.

There are many female Japanese vocalists that I love and appreciate. But none more than the pristine, crystal clear, piercing vocals of The Queen, Su-Metal. Suzuka is definitely my favorite singer, everything she sings sounds like angels to me. She is constantly improving and evolving. Her stamina, her range and the control over her pitch are extremely impressive to me. And when she needs to be technical, she can do it flawlessly. She can also switch styles of singing from song to song. And the fact that she always sounds better live than in the studio recordings is a testament to her craft.
I also have to mention her stage presence, it's very powerful and captivating, her stare is second to none. Her personality on and off stage is wonderful. The way she holds herself and interacts with the crowd and with Moa, Momo, and previously Yui, is always fun to watch. And she is just a through and through genuinely good person. Very endearing and lovable.
Her love for singing and the joy she gets from it is also very evident, in turn that joy is highly contagious. I am never not happy watching her perform.
I really hope she gets to keep singing forever and ever.
In the end, I love her voice the most because it sounds the best to me in my ears and her voice moves me more than any other.
Everything she sings impresses me, but here is a short list that really shows off her vocals.
1 BABYMETAL // Starlight (Metal Galaxy day 2)
2 Monochrome live on The First Take (2023)
3 Akatsuki Unfinished Version, Legend 1997 (2013) (Do the 90% less blue edit..)

    7 Tamashii no Rufuran, Legend 1997 (2013)

I always hate the term "best Singer" since it is so subjective. But I'm going to put in my 2 cents anyways.
Saiki & Yuko due to their story telling versatility. Their voices take you on a journey. I mean, Saiki sang the same song twice at Yokohama and they both had a life of their own. One had you in tears and the other had you dancing in the aisles.
Mayu due to her ability to change vocal styles within the same song, and her voice is so unique.
Asami due to the power and range of her voice.
Sumetal due to the fact that she sings very rigidly. She hits all the notes perfectly without much emotion. It's through no fault of her own, it's just how the music is written and produced.
One thing for certain, their voices fit in perfectly for their respective bands and style of music.

Thank you for the question and the video. While the question, “who is the best Japanese Female Singer”, is subjective. My response would be Saiki Atsumi. I love the emotion she projects while singing rock, hard rock, ballad, mixed genre. And to her credit the emotions conveyed in her singing actually convey the lyrics of the song sung mostly in Japanese. This is the sign of a quality musician and vocalist to convey the emotion of the song which is sung in a different language. I also enjoy Mayu of Nemophila. Mayu, along with the rest of Nemophila, have so much fun which is conveyed in the performance.

Great picks. Band Maid is easily my favorite group on this list, but Suzuhana and Suzuka are, I think, the strongest singers. Saiki's strength is her presence in the ensemble. Her sophisticated sense of rhythm and dynamics, and her flexibility, work really well in Band Maid's complex arrangements, and gives the instrumentalists room to be creative. She sang those complicated lead parts for two hours in the show I saw this past summer and was strong throughout.

All of them are great vocalist in a completely different way. I don't mind Suzuka when she's singing mid-range. Asami provably is the best vocalist but I can't handle her voice. Saiki, even with some imperfections, her live vocal is powerful both vocally and emotionally and you can't keep your attention away from her. She doesn't scream but has just enough grit and bone to her voice that makes her the essential part of Band-Maid signature sound.

I found your video very helpful in at least seeing how many excellent female rock singers there are in Japan. For myself the vocalist I'm most familiar with and whose voice I find both mesmerizing and haunting is Suzuka Nakamoto. There is a quality and tone to her voice that has touched a chord in me that no other singer has ever done. She is a wonder to me.

Suzuka definitely deserves a spot a top this list. She is the reason i am even here & stuck in this damn Foxhole in the first place lol. Su-Metal is one of the most consistent voices in Japanese Metal.
Not many vocalists have that ability, which i can put on one hand here. No doubt, growing up with a farther who himself was a professional musician until he had a stroke.
Probably had a big influence, on Su but she doesn't let much get in her way. Even a language barrier, which is impressive.
Su-Metal's English has improved significantly over the last 2 years. Most J-bands dont even attempt this. However, it has paid dividends.
    _____________________________________________
As Su can conduct interviews in both English & Japanese now. Her stage presence & endurance is on a different level, and to have that kind of stamina.
Yet still manage to rock that hard is a testament to Babymetal's gatekeeper status here. Suzuka Nakamoto is the Queen metal b*** for a reason. 🤘🦊
I also like Saiki from Band-Maid, which has grown on me lately. Saiki clearly has been working on being more consistent. Which hasn't always been her strong point.
This last tour really helped convince me, as she is easily my second favorite vocalist. Asami, on the other hand is a brilliant power metal vocalist.
    _______________________________________________
A sort of Iron Maiden of the Japanese world. This band deserves more recognition, for sure. Asami takes some adjustment to appreciate fully i think.
However, there is no doubt Asami is a growing force to be recognized here. Lovebites's first US appearance is at ProgPower USA later this year. Lets all support this amazing Japanese band!!
I also think an honorable mention should go to Nana of Fate Gear as well!! Fate Gear is the brainchild of Captain Mina. The orgional legendary founder of Destrose.
LoveBites, Disqualia, Mary's Blood, Mardelas, Aldious, Albion, Nemophila are all of the Destrose family tree. Nana though is a tie for second place. Her melodic and metalcore vocals, much like Nemophila makes them stand out. She is a beast as my bioses are so torn! 🤘🎸🔥

As a female singer, Fuyuki "Fuki" Tenge is the #1 for me, she is unbelievable. Other faves: Asami, Marina Hebiishi, Mayu (of course), Regan from Saiseiga (by my opinion she is on par with Mayu). As screamers/growlers: Yukina, the 4'9'' tasmanian devil from Hanabie and BBTS's Io Nozukidaira (br00tal gutturals!). Honorable mentions: Matsuri from Hanabie (unique timbre) and EYE.

She injects lots of emotion and has a huge range to do it with. Again, tone is on my radar and she’s got it in spades in lower registers. With R!N not doing metal anymore, Asaka is my queen.

The legendary Keiko Terada-from show-ya this all female metal band debuted in 1983 and is still active. many of the female acts listed would not exist without them, thanks to their naon no yaon project (which you show in your video) promoting female artist/groups. others high in my list- kuro neko from Onmyo-za, Kimi from bridear, Yui Itsuki from fairy kingdom(yousei teikoku). Miki from Galmet, Yuko Suzuhana from wagakki band(one we agree on), other honorable rock mentions-Aikawa Nanase, Tomoko Kawase-from the brilliant green/tommi heavenly. i am familiar with or own albums(like baby metal) from all the ones you mentioned, although i am not a fan of love bites. they are very talented, but in a very Japanese way they are over produced and pretty generic. Others i think you will see mentioned often also include Aldious, and mary's blood.
