all great guitarists that would grace any band that could have them and the only argument to be had is the order, Kanami is my no1 not just for her ability but for her creative ability composing the songs with her band mates considering the talents involved it must be like herding cats.
if we all agreed on the order and thought the same what a very boring uninspiring world this would be,

But I hear she has jammed with Saki privately, but she's not really the jamming type of musician. She likes to have it all worked out before. She doesn't seem to use jamming to compose, writing her riffs in her head.

Nice list, and picking a number 1 is very hard! For technical skill I'd go Miyako, for skill plus soul I'd go Hal-Ca, and as an all-round guitarist/songwriter I'd go Kanami. Saki is also a great option though.
Would be good to also see a list that includes both genders, as there are some incredible Japanese male guitarists who sadly get less attention internationally. For example, Juko Suzuki is up there with the top guitarists in this list.

Since "from now on" came out kanami has risen into a different league - now you can only compare her to a few other guitarists globally, probably all guys. Mostly dead guys. None of them compose and produce for a whole band basically. She does everything on that track without ever being just a collage of bits. And the others work seamlessly into her textile. A masterpiece.

I'm glad you titled this "favorite" instead of going down a "best" rabbit hole. The Japanese metal scene is incredible, and the fact that these ladies have totally broken the metal genre barriers and play just as good as their male counterparts.
Miyako is my favorite, but in her case naming her my favorite goes beyond just guitar. She's a virtuoso at piano and a phenomenal composer on top of her elite level guitar playing. What distinguishes her from the rest to my ears is she is more experimental in her play with bends and tapping and playing with tones. You can't go wrong with any on this list.

Well said, and yes so refreshing to have a conversation about aesthetics and favorites, not some phony "best" talk. These girls can do whatever the other does at this skill level and each has videos to prove it. My "favorite" is a 4 way tie, Saki, Hal-ca, Kanami, and Miyako all for different play styles, looks, techniques... again very subjective. The sheer catalog of over 130 songs in every single style guitar technique there is from Kanami can't go unrecognized so a lot of people do put her at number one and there is nothing wrong with that. Cool video regardless and appreciate putting "favorite" and not "the best" to avoid the haters!

Now I'm not making any declaration like she's better than them or anything like that. She's a bit of a dark horse because she's a team player who has to compete with busy keys, bass and vocal arrangements in their music, so a little more attention is sometimes needed to spot everything she's doing. But once you get into what she's doing she's just incredible, navigates countless styles, has touch and taste, creativity, fun, and a great shredder as well (not that that is by any means the focus of Gacharic Spin's music).

    My 10 favorites are :
    Miyako (Lovebites)
    Midori (Lovebites)
    Yuki (D-Drive)
    Hal-ca (Asterism)
    Tomo-zo (Gacharic Spin)
    Narumi (Lonesome Blue)
    Rie A.K.A. Suzaku (Muses)
    Hazuki (Nemophila)
    Saki (Nemophila)
    Kanami (Band-Maid)
Choosing 10 is not easy, there is a lot of quality in Japan.
    My favorite is Miyako.

Someone who composed most of Mary's Blood's repertoire (especially the older one), songs like Counter Strike, Marionette, Wings, Bite The Bullet, Veronica, I'm Dead, Bloody Birth Day, Coronation Day, Campanulla, Arcadia,... for sure Saki is a Myako/Kanami-level composer. The amazing thing is that three of them play amazingly, compose extraordinary things, are beautiful themselves and have (probably?) the same age.

The two guitarists are not only talented, but also play different types of music, which synchronizes their guitar playing in their solo performances and creates a continuous, non-monotonous guitar performance between them.
Their guts and determination to not be afraid of failure in their twin shredders during live performances is based on their trust in each other. Of course, this is backed by Haruna's tireless, fast, and precise drumming and the long hours of stoic practice by all members.
