the most memorable scene to me. her running in desperation and them both calling each other's names is what really gets me.
The desperation of Claire and Frank was portrayed through their ascent to the stones, and the music score and the camera works reflected that crescendo so well. Brilliant acting!
He did love her. Frank couldn't move on without knowing what actually happened to Claire. Those 3 years of uncertainty must have been torture for him.
I love Jamie, but I also really liked Frank... :( When they were screaming to each other it was so heartbreaking 😭😭😭
This scene broke my heart!
Same!!! 😭
I always feel bad for Frank, he loved Claire very much, he didn't deserve all that, much less his sad ending.
What happened to him again ? because I didn’t get to see that part
He argues with his daughter and dies in a traffic accident.
@@pollux4933 oh . Thanks 😊
Yeah. It took me a long time to realize he was a good man, husband and father.
Whatever faults he may have had he was a good, kind, decent man and he deserved more
I am obviously a Jamie fan but in this scene I almost rooted for them. There was absolutely nothing wrong with their marriage. Claire just loved Jamie more
I am a fan of them both 😍 I just re-watched this episode today and I actually was rooting for her to go back to Frank. At this point she chose she still wanted to be Claire Randall. Claire & Jaime's love grew as they got to know each other better & it became a beautiful & strong love story. But my heart always breaks for Frank....he was a good man & deserved way better. And I definitely also loved Claire & Frank's love story in the first season.
Outlander is such an amazing TV Series with amazing characters ❤
He still cheated on her when they both were in world War 2. That was not a good man all the time.. Most soldiers did not cheat!! He may of loved her but he was not loyal to there vows during war and she was. That's why Jaime became the love of her life. He loved her and only her. Like age called him he was a REAL Man...
@@LindaBruce-mp4xm exactly. There is a small clue where they are making love at the bottom of Craigh Na Dun and he pops open her bra like it's nothing. Meaning as a man he had plenty of experience during the war. Got it from Jack Randall I suppose... He was always the cheating type plus they were a bad match in the end because Claire didn't really want to be in the US, she was getting bitter and wasn't passionate about Frank anymore. Frank also didn't care much about what she did. He wasn't really fond of her being a doctor. They lived separate lives all along. Despite them saying they loved each other, they didn't.
I always cry during this scene 😭
This scene gives me goosebumbs & makes me cry so much - it's such a beautiful & strong scene 😭 I love them all so much Claire, Frank & Jaime. I wish they all had a happy ending.
There was once a time I was watching Outlander hoping that Claire would finally be back with Frank. That was long ago now hehe.
Simple but brilliant piece of camera work at the end showing both of them leaving the hill in different times.
This is where their love dies forever
This part always gives me chills!
Momento de grande suspense... maravilhoso 💖 Como é linda a série Outlander!
They hear each other but can't see each other .......
Let’s not forget that when Jamie learned about her traveling, he took her back to the stones himself. She was free to go and decided to stay.
I still have trouble understanding why she couldn't go back and forth as she pleased. Some say it was too dangerous. But every time someone does it, they land exactly where they want and when. I also don't understand why Roger has to take gems with him, Geillis has to sacrifice someone, and Claire can go without carrying anything. And why only some people can travel, but coincidently, all main characters can do it.
Just knowing and listening to the music I was captured
Heart breaking to watch first time round, still is 6 seasons on, although I believe we were all secretly hoping Claire didn’t return to Frank, who’s character was far less alluring than Jamie’s fiery one, a perfect match for Claire the scene where Jamie said ( I told you to stay put) and Claire replied ( I don’t have to do as you say) and the ensuing row between them always gets my adrenaline flowing, unbelievably remarkable acting by Sam and Caitriona “👌” what a phenomenal ‘Duo’ they are! Quite explosive 💥💥💥 and continue to be so throughout ‘Outlander’ 😘
💥💥💥
@@kasienkakaminska6915 👍 💥💥💥and Electrifying comes to mind, you could almost see the sparks flying in that scene! Greetings from the U.K. 🤗
That scene you describe above, the arguing between Jamie and Claire by the river, is played absolutely perfectly by Sam and Cait. I keep getting stuck in it with my finger on the rewind button (one of the reasons I haven't made it to Season 2 yet)
@@GalwayGirl1 slow down, I can only just reply to you this time I have a migraine, so am off to bed 🛏 pleased you like this video, it’s one of my favourite episodes, be seeing you 👍
🔥
amazing scene
How did you know I was literally looking for this scene on RUclips just yesterday? 🤔
Oh my god!!! Me too I was literally searching for this scene 😭
@@pragynakarunakaram822 that’s crazy! Maybe they look up what people search 😂
This is a good scene.
Que cena linda!
Poor Frank
Show Frank is better than book Frank, for composition reasons, but also Tobias Menzies. Hands down, would pick him every time.
I just started to re-watch Outlander series and watched this episode today.
Does anyone remember did Frank touch the stones later? Or is it explained in the book? I remembered him touching the stones while he screamed out Claire's name. I can't help but wonder IF he was a time traveller as well? Claire heard his scream and I wonder if he heard her as well but thought it was only in his head. This is such a powerful scene.
In the book, Frank did not find out about the time-travel nature of the stones until Claire came back. I don't think he has the ability to travel, but I suppose it was never firmly established either way. He never does travel, so it doesn't matter if he could or couldn't. They added this scene (and the story line of the police telling him she must have run off with another man) to give Frank a bigger role and add more to the drama of Claire being separated from her first husband. Claire did run away while Jamie was talking to Horrocks in the book, but she was caught by the English long before she got anywhere near the stones.
As for the show, I'm thinking Claire either imagined hearing Frank's voice, or perhaps the writers took artistic license, and she could hear the 20th century through the portal of the stones the same as she could hear the stones themselves. There's never been another incident like it in the show or book. Jamie has had dreams that gave him glimpses of the 20th century, but that had nothing to do with the stones.
I think it was a wise decision to expand Frank's role. Tobias Menzies is fantastic, and I love the juxtaposition of Black Jack with Frank. How very different they are, yet there are still bits of one in the other.
He heard and he thought it's only imagination
Super la juxtaposition des deux mondes elle n'en croit pas ses yeux mais...🤔 que va-t-il se passer ?
I've always wondered what that bit of cloth is doing there does anyone else notice it? Like someone had just came or gone through the stones?? On claires side there is like a kilt maybe on the ground?? I'm not sure if it's a kilt or not but it's definitely something and she sees it
I always thought that it was her scarf which is still laying there since she travelled the first time.
Yes, I thought it was the cloth she had wrapped around her when she travelled.
Part of me wants her to have made it so bad. 😢

مقاطع حزينة
Always liked franks character , he loved claire , she disappeared for years and she came back pregnant and he helped raise another man's child
Das stand nicht im Buch
I love frank more than jamie, but i think that claire was more compatible with jamie, so i never wished for claire and frank to be endgame, i just wished frank could have had a happy life

Frank got Claire back then treated her as a roommate. He contributed to his own loneliness.
he didn't though! he really tried to make it work for them, he bought her a house ffs. But she wouldn't let it happen, she wasn't in love with him. After a few years, yeah they were just roommates but he really tried at first
He put his all into their marriage and even raised another man's child. Claire was the one that was hung up in the past.
No one can blame Frank for his behaviour. He tried, he really did. Claire loved him, but fell for another guy and decided to leave Frank in the present time. I always thought that was cruel as hell. I think Claire always felt quilty about it, but she couldn't return because she wasn't sure if she could come back to Jaime anymore. Frank was in his own time for years without knowing what happened to his wife who then suddenly returned carrying another man's child. Of course that ripped off his heart....
I like Claire and Jaime but what Claire did to Frank was cruel.
Wait a minute - If Frank could hear her, does it mean he can time travel too? Man, if that is the case, he could’ve been the brave man and go save his wife, and instead...
this scene is just in the show, not the books!
no, it's just supposed to show their connection as husband and wife i believe.
.
This is where I quit watching. String the viewers along for 7 seasons. I'm out.
