It's time for a supercar vs superbike DRAG RACE!
Mat's lining up in his Porsche 911 Turbo S, and he's about to face off against a Suzuki Hayabusa!
So let's see how they compare. Starting with the Porsche, it's powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six that can produce 650hp & 800Nm of torque. It's a bit heavy, weighing in at 1,640kg.
Naturally, the bike is a whole lot lighter - it tips the scales at just 264kg! It's powered by a 1340cc 4 cylinder, which is good for around 190hp. So of course, it's down on power, but it is SO much lighter!
So what do you think - will the two wheels be able to put their power down properly? Or will the all-conquering Porsche snatch another win? There's only one way to find out - LET'S RACE!

Because it would probably make the production of the video so much slower. Gopro failures for 4 cars when its hot, post production editing shit, packing and unpacking the gear. This is a quantity chanell so they need to be quick

More people need to try a bike. The stigma of it being unsafe puts a lot of people off, but it's genuinely one of the most rewarding things any real petrolhead can do. Being literally part of the machine and feeling the engine do its thing beneath you is something cars don't really compare to.
Yeah that's true, unfortunately there's way less people out there who are into motorcycles compared to cars, the feeling of freedom that it gives you is unrivaled by any car, you feel like you can conquer the world and go wherever you want cause you don't need to be stuck in a traffic jam.

The old 220 model of the hyabusa would scare that Porsche. My H2 which has been tinkered with,I'd get after that Porsche. I do love Porsche though big time.
That Porsche seems to have lost some horses as we haven't seen it doing 10.1 since its first debut on this show.
Cause that was the red one. The quickest the silver one has gone is 10.2, and last time it was used against the 918 Spyder, it ran a 10.4! 😬👎

It is about the surface I think. Aventador SVJ used to do 10.4 but in the most recent race it did 10.8 I think
My dude its 0.5 difference wind can do that
a 0.2 sec difference can be caused by so many variables nothing to do with loss in horses. less traction on launch, the weather, temperature, how much fuel in the tank, tyre tread, last service etc.. on a really good day it might even do 9.9

All the bikes have abs now so it's not that hard to stop from 100 mph. The bike should have done better than it did.

Yes, but you basically sit on a motor with 2 wheels attached. So quite dangerous and not very comfortable.

@@IamLEGENDkb24 765LT can beat these street bikes from a roll on yes but against the MotoGP bike with lightweight Pedrosa is impossible, you'd need a 2004-2005 V10 F1 car which has a dry weight of around 520kg and just under 1000hp and a narrow 1.8m chassis width, those things even nearly 20 years old would smash a modern MotoGP bike in a drag race or roll on.

@@1010thechamp I don't think an f1 from 2004 weights 520kg I googled a Ferrari f2004 and the weight is 620kg but still those things are unbelievably fast and way cooler than the new boring f1 cars, not sure if they'd smash a modern motogp bike, those things make almost 300 hp with a weight of just 160kg, but still, I think the f1 would win but it wouldn't be such a massive difference, but 4 wheels put the power down better than 2.

I mean, yea. Pretty much expected. The porsche pulls off faster because it has more then 4 times the contact surface area to the ground (and it doesnt have to keep wheelieng in mind lol) but the busa takes off because of the weight difference and sleeker aerodynamics. Same story with the braking test (tyre contact area wise).
You mean twice the contact surface? 4 wheels on the car and 2 wheels on the bike? Car has twice as many wheels

That, in practice, due to the shape of the motorcycle tyre, has more then 2 times the contact patch per tyre compared to the (average, front wheel is narrower than the rear wheel on the bike) busa. That is even after taking deformation into account

more contact surface does not give more traction. the friction force is proportional to weight over tires times friction coefficient. it's more the sophisticated launch control combined with efficient all wheel drive. the bike can't do a good start because it's impossible to pass all the power without lifting the front too much. the Porsche also has quicker shifts and closer ratio gears due to 8 speeds.
bIKE TOP END HURT BY AERODYNAMICS
Unfortunately the bike is restricted through it's ecu as standard. These can be unlocked to obtain it's full power in all the gears and also increase the redline. All big superbikes have this restriction unfortunately.
This Porsche is just insane, it shocks me every time. Like Porsche just only houses Mad Engineers, honestly.

Did they mention that this bike comes power restricted off the factory in all of the first three gears, thats until about 130 mph? ECU flash is what a lot of Hayabusa owners do 'against it' first.
I'm a biker, probably because I have italian blood but live in London and I can't afford a nice car. That being said, bikes offer sooooo much performance for the money, but cars have many advantages and if taken to the extreme (F1) offer more performance. In the real world any bike would probably smoke your tuned Audi. But again, anything with an engine is awesome!!

Mate even if I was a billionaire and could buy any car in the world I'd still have a bike, I think the feeling of freedom you get on one is unrivaled by any car and also the danger of going fast on one is also appealing.

This video goes to show how fast cars have gotten. I remember ppl drag racing Busas when they first came out and there wasnt a single car out there that could even remotely hope to see its license plate. Now you have 911s keeping up with it and even beating (!) It in some scenarios. Amazing...

There is no denying that both of those are proper quick but hayabusas are pretty slow compared to a normal litre bike that is a race i'd love to see
A Panigale V4 has run under 10s on the channel last year.
They're a lot easier to launch. The same rider brought a kawi h2r and even though he's a fantastic rider struggled with keeping the front down

I ride motorcycles (r1200GSA) and it is still crazy to me that you can buy a motorcycle that will do a quarter mile that quick for less than 20k. What’s even worse the people who usually buy hayabusas in the US are the ones who have no business being on motorcycles at all much less one that is that fast. They are always the worst riders and they ride around in flip flops and shorts.
Very impressive Porsche acceleration from standstill and braking, I do not believe it was so powerful. and in any case also the other tests the gap is not very noticeable. incredible!! a small square with the speedometer would have been the best

The stats on the current 911 Turbo S are crazy. Autocar magazine have a test drive article on the car this week. The acceleration figures they recorded were seriously impressive. Extract from the article “The through-the-gears sprint from 30-70mph takes just 2.0sec - three-tenths less than even a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ manages and seven-tenths quicker than the Porsche 911 GT3. Standout examples of in-gear pace include 40-60mph in second gear at 1.0sec and 60-80mph in third gear at 1.5sec. And, to demonstrate that the car’s acceleration does not simply tail off once you’re into triple figures, 100-120mph in fourth gear takes 2.3sec. In fact, in taking 11.2sec to reach 140mph, the Turbo S proved precisely as quick as the 14bhp-less-powerful but 502kg-lighter McLaren F1 did back in May 1994.” What a machine!

The Suzuki Hayabusa is an absolutely insane bike! It's one of the best bike you can buy!
It's not even close to being one of the best bikes you can buy.
I prefer the CBR1000RRR or the M1000RR

Soft limiter is no an issue. Just start rolling, gain little speed, put it in N and you can rev it to redline. XD
Great race, that Porsche is amazing off the line, the busa is an old heavy bike nowadays, a legend when it first came out but compared to a Ducati v4 panigale 60kg's heavier which alot on a bike.

The Hayabusa has 20 hp less than the base v4. This video seems intended to shiw off the porsche cus put a proper liter bike against the porsche and the car will lose

It's crazy every time we see drag races with this 911 its always stock and still destroys most tuned cars it comes up against... I would love to see someone tune this 911 and then put it to the test!! That would be scary with the extra power with it being one of the best launching cars out there!!

I have two things to say about the braking test, firstly the bike can be swerved out of the way of an oncoming obstacle much more easily especially if braking and slowing down. And secondly even if the collision does happen in that extra bit that it took to stop the speed and the weight of the bike combined should not be likely to cause a bad damage.

As time goes on bikes will not even be mentioned with cars. Bikes were built like race engine 20 years ago and cars have been moving slowly toward that and physics are catching up with the poor drag coefficient of bikes and poor launch due to having to keep the front wheel down.

Try the drag race again but use a a supercharged or twin turbo gsxr 1300
