A very fitting song to summarise and accompany the final great moments of the ending of the greatest car show that has ever been, The Grand Tour! We’ve only had two specials since then. But we know the magic is still there! Jeremy , James , Richard. We still love you! From: A fan of an iconic trio and great music!
Since i was 3, ive been trying to find out this song, the piano part use to always make me cry like a baby! But its neatly formed and a beautiful melody with a beautiful song title :)
Had an amazing ride with the trio since Top Gear. And when The Grand Tour came out I was over filled with joy seeing our 3 best mates do adventures again. And its sad the Tent has to go..I personally loved the tent and conversation street, the Ebola Drome, Abbie, The American and they after show discussion. While it was a tearful wnding montage from Top Gears best moments to these, its also a happy ending to a story that's been told. And while the chapter closes at the tent, the story goes on with their adventures. When the trio retire, no one can take their place as our childhood and adolescent stage of life when it comes to laughter...even as adults its hard. But they will always be remembered. The Orangutan, The Hammster and Captain Slow. And on that Bombshell and Terrible dissappointment, I hope we all continue to enjoy their adventures till the end. See you guys there💖
I hate to be close minded but I always turn back to the original recording of this song. I have heard several different versions by Eric and others but they just don't nail the experience that this version has. This version always brings me back to 1971 riding in a friends mustang driving to church for a youth event.

At 3:10 ""Jimmy was cutting every link between himself and the robbery but it wasn't about me. I gave Jimmy the tip and he gave me some Christmas money. From then on I kept my mouth shut. I knew Jimmy, he had the cash. It was his. I know he kicked some money upstairs to Paulie, but that was it. It made him sick to have to turn money over to the guys who stole it, he’d rather whack them. Anyway, what did I care? I wasn’t asking for anything and besides Jimmy was making nice money through my Pittsburgh connections. Still, for months after the robbery, they were finding bodies all over. When they found Carbone in the meat truck, he was frozen so stiff it took them two days to thaw him out for the autopsy, Still, I never saw Jimmy so happy. He was like a kid. We had money coming in through my Pittsburgh people and after a while even the Lufthansa thing began to calm down. But the thing that made Jimmy so happy that morning was that this was the day Tommy was being made, You know, we always called each other good fellas. Like you said to, uh, somebody, ‘You’re gonna like this guy. He’s all right. He’s a good fella. He’s one of us’. You understand? We were good fellas. Wiseguys. But Jimmy and I could never be made because we had Irish blood. It didn’t even matter that my mother was Sicilian. To become a member of a crew you’ve got to be one hundred per cent Italian so they can trace all your relatives back to the old country. See, it’s the highest honor they can give you. It means you belong to a family and crew. It means that nobody can fuck around with you. It also means you could fuck around with anybody just as long as they aren’t also a member. It’s like a license to steal. It’s a license to do anything. As far as Jimmy was concerned with Tommy being made, it was like we were all being made. We would now have one of our own as a member."

After watching The Grand Tour, I could never listen to this song the same way again.
Agreed
Wait, why? What are you talking about?
@@sarascarpati887 you wouldnt understand 😭🤧
And they a lot of the time, they nudge on Vauxhall/Opel's! But this and the Lotus Carlton/Omega were the only things cool about Vauxhall and Opel.
This is a REALLY excellent song...and the piano part always remings me of Goodfellas!
First heard this awesome masterpiece in the summer of 1972 while in high school and working a part-time job in the kitchen at Crescent Beach Hotel in Rochester, New York ... got goosebumps hearing it! ... especially the iconic opening guitar riff and the incredible "piano exit" at the end! ... lots of great memories that summer because of this song! ... one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded! ... and hi to Harley Brookins, wherever you are!
The instrumental part in this piece is just AMAZING !!!! Worth more than a thousand words !!!
oh Duane Allman, gone too too soon.. he's what makes this very special, none of the live performances later or countless covers could recreate his magic with the slide guitar..
This is without a doubt the best song to ever exist
Jesus the sheer desperation in his voice is unmatched over 50 years later. Probably the greatest vocal performance of his life
Can't get enough of this song even more thanks to the grand tour finale, even thou the show has ended "as we know it " at least we can enjoy the specials even more 👍👍. Thanks boys for the last 16 years
Thank you Goodfellas for introducing me to this song many years ago, And countless other amazing songs.
You can allways count on Scorsese.
@@netherrack6619 - Just like you can "always" count on a dictionary, eh?
Such a great song with an amazing hook. Love this riff so much
I have heard this song perhaps a thousand times since 1970. All I can say is I ALWAYS get goosebumps at 3:10 in my humble opinion this song is top five greatest rock songs of all time!!
Bought the album in 1973, still play it from time to time. Certainly had my monies worth.
That opening riff though..... Wow
That riff is the Legendary Duane Allman of the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND!!
We used to call each other Goodfellas. Like you'd say to someone you'll like this guy, he's alright, he's a goodfella. He's one of us
Greatest R&R song EVER written (IMHO)
Is anyone out there going to recognise that this song is fifty years old this year
50 years, 1, 000 years, same best modern rock and roll song ever.
Fifty years!!!, it seems easy to get it, nevertheless it's almost a whole life for many people.

The second half is godly
Oh yes
*All of it
The first half is better imo
But I respect that you like more the second half
currently falling in love with a chick and that second half of the song is just.. jeez. really represents how falling in love feels like
The brilliance of Martin Sorcesse to take a piece of this song and make it a perfectly selected theme song.
In what movie?im asking because i can watch it and dont remember
Goodfellas - Google the theme song
@@MrGLites Thank's man. You're great!
A million dollar intro riff and one greatest albums in history
The piano part is so beautiful.
This has always been one of my all time favorite songs
I was born in 77. I happened to hear this today on the radio. Now I know that this was made in 70 or so but I really like this song especially its ending. It is so peaceful to listen too
One of the finest pieces of art ever produced, ever. This song and it’s artists are at the apex. We are so fortunate to have lived to enjoy this beautiful experience. Thank you and RIP Duane Allman. This was hugely YOU!
The piano ending is like coming into safe harbor after a long, long struggle. Always makes me cry.
Eric you colored my teen years, adult life and now into my old age. Thank you for your genius music, how I adore you. Here's lifting the glass to better years for both of us in our second half. Mwah
RIP Mr Ray Liotta aka Henry Hill Goodfellas will never be the same without you 1954-2022
I know it is an awesome song... specially ti be driving down the road...but men. Every time i hear it the first thing that comes to mind is the Holy Trinity. Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow....and their montage from everything since the beginning. And for that. Jeremy, Richard and James...we Salute you.
"Y'know... we always called each other 'Goodfellas'."
My favourite piece of this song @ 4:50. sounds so incredible and now in it's 51st year. The covid-19 pandemic certainly won't stop me listening to this wonderful 1970 classic by Derek And The Dominos.
Days of Thunder bought me here
Hopefully, we won't get whacked for killing a made man, right?
He’s a good fella you can trust him. He’s one of us
This is one of the songs that can make real men alike, weep
Thank you Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.
Probably my biggest regret is never going for a live show in person,
However, the way you guys ran the show made it feel as if I was there
in person. I would even respond to you guys. I bid adieu to THE greatest
TV Trio.
At 3:10 I think we get that beautiful, beautiful sequence of the bodies in the pink car
