Episode 22 - A Full Toastmasters Meeting

- In this special episode, we present a full Toastmasters meeting to serve as a model for new members and non-Toastmasters. We present 2 speakers and evaluators, Table Topics, and all the usual role players: Grammarian, Word-of-the-Day, Ah counter, Timer, General Evaluator.
As a RUclips Audience- that was a wonderful toastmaster meeting. The prepared speech was very engaging-: catching the salmon". However, I thought the evaluation could have been less harsh and more appreciative. You could do a lot while presenting but there are also personalized style and preference. The most important question to the Evaluator should be was he able to make it engaging and interesting? Yes, he was. The rest of the meeting including the table topics was wonderful.

I've always been interested in attending a Toastmasters meeting but haven't been able to yet and this was so great to see what it is like! I enjoyed seeing the different sections and the stories told. Thank you so so much!

Peter. That was a masterful telling of a story that touched me and cause me to reminisce about my father, who also found great joy in fishing. You truly held my attention from beginning to end.

Interesting. But I didn't like the evaluator. She only focused on the negative things. She hardly said anything positive except that she identified with the speaker.
what year was this recorded??
I have considered attending TM to see if they could help me with my chronic fear of public speaking. After a lot of research TM does not seem to be the right org to help me. I have viewed several videos on what they have to offer. I found nothing about dealing with fear of public speaking let alone dealing with a fear that causes dyspnea (shortness of breath), paralyzation, and tremors. Exposure won't help on its own since all that will happen is me going in front of the group, acting awkward including trembling like there is a 7.0 earthquake all without being able to say a word.
Having joined Toastmasters to overcome my own abject fear of public speaking, I can honestly say it's the best way for you to overcome yours. What you are describing is exactly what I went through when I was required to speak in a seminary class. I never returned to the class and eventually dropped out since not being able speak in public is a bit of a deal breaker for a pastor. No video can truly convey the benefit that can be gained by joining a club. Most clubs provide a warm, supportive environment to work on your fears at your own pace.

Wow the evaluator was pretty harsh. Imo Peter's speech was very engaging and pulled me into his daily routine. The props are unnecessary since we as the audience are experiencing the life of the father through the speaker's lens, not watching a movie

This was largely a wonderful video. But it is amazing that this woman was proud of forcing others to only give speeches that she approved of. Disgusting.
There are a number of women speaking. Not sure I follow what you are addressing - what is the time mark?
Not typical of Toastmasters, especially in New Zealand. It's all a bit lame. The Table Topics were easy for the speakers.
