  • In this episode we find out exactly what lies beneath the house...and it's not great! Watch to find out what solutions there are and how we solve the problem.
As mentioned in the video, if anyone can recommend another/better method of fundraising then please let us know either within the comments or by email:
    mrabuilders21@gmail.com
We really appreciate your time and help!
For all your printing needs, and I do mean absolutely anything, please follow this link:
    www.fullrangecreative.co.uk/
Thank you to Dean for looking after us with our printing, excellent service and outcome yet again.
If you like the workwear that we are wearing it's by TuffStuff Workwear and one of the places you can buy it is here:
    www.workwear.co.uk/tuffstuff....
It really is great, well priced stuff, highly recommended.
A random link to the same laser level that Richard uses is here, although it's not the exact same one, we think that this is the newer updates version:
    uk.huepar.com/products/huepar...
Please note that we don't get paid for any of the above links, there I nothing in it for us but we can personally vouch that what we recommend in any form is top quality.

I've only done under pinning once. See if I can explain this well enough. Along the top of the ply, in the middle, that touches the old foundation, cut a 6" square out, as though you want to pur concrete into it. But create a ply box with an open top over that hole. As you fill the box up, it pours in behind the ply and upto the bottom of the foundation. When it's gone off, you just have a lump of concrete to break off where the box was. But it means you filled it all in one go.

Hi i think you are trying to explain a “letterbox”
Doing it that way you can pour in one save the packing after. This is how you would pour say RC column repair

  • @user-wh2ye1yp9z

Dry packing always better in my book as if you leave concrete down then any shrinkage in setting concrete is taken up by dry pack 75mm usually.
Also we tend to drill concrete once poured and fix continuity bars T16 then your not catching your face etc on rebar , just my thoughts.

In Australia, we put two layers of trench mesh reinforcing into the trenches, top and bottom. It consists of quite thick rebar. Similarly, we would put quite thick rebar into the underpinning wall. Different countries, different standards!

When I was an apprentice, I can remember a question from my City and guilds exam.... it was to do with when you had a drain fall that was too shallow.... so a 4" drain requires 1 in 40.... but a 6" drain required 1 in 60 fall. As long as the 6" drain goes in to a manhole it can then go back to 4"..... now I've never done drainage for a long time the regs could have changed could be worth checking out

During casting of existing foundations. As you do in the video by making a formwork up to 100 mm lower than the underside edge of the existing foundation. On the upper edge of the formwork, mount formwork 45 ° in relation to vertical formwork, closed at the sides with triangular formwork. The upper edge of the sloping formwork must be 100 mm higher than the lower edge of the existing foundation. The constructed funnel makes it possible to fill the last piece of the formwork and contact is formed between the new concrete and the existing foundation. The inclined casting is peeled off.
Exciting to follow the basement project. The formwork incl tage sloping formwork can be made at the same time, so all the concrete kan be done at the same time.

First off, you can use it for your business to take payments from customers via card either via a website link, or on the go on your phone, but secondly you could use it to set up a donations page and square will only take around 1.9% of the payment. It's by far one of the cheapest ways

Excellent work as usual Adam and good to see Rich and Mick. Was it a sphincter tightening moment when you uncovered the stepped footing or was it expected to a certain extent? I hope the weather holds for you for a bit, it’s been very wet just further south of you. Looking forward to seeing the walls go up. Have a good week! 👍🏼

Thank you Simon, hope you're keeping well. I expected a stepped footing but went found what it was like on the other side, coupled with the fact that the house has a basement, I expected it to have at least some consistency. Even the make of concrete differs across the footing, and also differences in depths...just a tad strange that's all. The only sphincter tightening moments I get from jobs these days is when I put the invoice in!!! Haha! Cheers once again mate, have a great week too.

That steel mesh is doing nothing you should use 1000 mm long 20mm dowels into the surrounding earth, the correct way to underpin is to to excavate in sections as you have done then pour mass concrete to within 75mm of the existing foundation which should be cleaned off when the concrete has cured , fill the space with non shrink grout , the alternative is to pour a concrete footing and use short Acro jacks under the existing foundation and concrete them insitu.

Probably too late now, but when you set out the new corner of the extension with laser, how do you know that you were in line with the edge of the existing house? I can see you formed a right angle meeting the house and the blockwork, but it could be running in or out and not be sitting on the true corner.
I enjoyed the video. Great work

    • @mrabuilders6723
      @mrabuilders6723  2 месяца назад

If the laser is giving out a perfect 90⁰ angle then lining it up with both walls perfectly can only mean that the corner is in the right place. Hopefully that makes sense.

    • @peternash4936

Hello Paul, good to have your beaming smile and radiant, infectious positivity back again. You're totally correct of course, we've dug more out than specified and put in way more concrete. Well spotted. If there's anything we've done wrong however which will lead to the house falling down please be sure to put it in the comments. Just remember that I said "wrong", if we've done it differently than you would then no one really cares. As for the pipe, I really don't think we did but I can't swear to the almighty that we didn't. It'll be extremely strange to do all that digging around the pipe and the only damage is a bit of mortar to fly out of a joint without so much as the glaze of pipe to be slightly flaked off, but who knows?! I just mentioned it as a visual example of what could be causing damage to areas of peoples homes. But again, who cares? That pipe doesn't exist anymore, bit like your beaming smile and radiant, infectious positivity. Thank you for watching, Paul. Hope you're well and having a great night. Take care.
