That Passat hasn’t been looked after since day 1! I have friends overseas with mark 4 Tdi’s (1.9 Tdi) and passat’s from 1994 (old 1.6 Td engine) with over 450000 km / 280000 Miles and they’re running spot on! We’re deffo spoiled in the UK. Overseas a lot of people keep their cars for over 20 years or more but they look after them in terms of servicing , parts etc… so they go on forever! It all comes down to how people look after their cars. Anyway love the videos, keep it up 👍🏻 🙂

I had a 2006 Passat diesel like this and it served me really well. Bought it with 43k miles on it and took it to 167k. I maintained it as it should be maintained and it was really reliable. The only big problem was the usual DPF issue that needed to be sorted, but then I lived in London at the time so the DPF issue is going to arise sooner or later.
I only got rid of it because I got shunted from behind at traffic lights and it was written off by the insurer. It felt like I could have taken it to 250k or even 300k miles.

I had a 2012 Jetta TDI DSG had lots of upgrades and a 2 tone paint job. I loved that car. I lost the car when a girl 16 without a license was driving with 3 teen boys in the car crashed into us at 11PM at night and totaled the car. We flipped over 1 and a half times and skidded down the road 20 yards on the roof. Still angry 3 years later! It only had 48K miles. The car was perfect until it was not. I had just ceramic coated the day before.

@@ln5747 Yes. I have been doing the ceramic coat for years on cars (small professional bottles) . I also use the cheap stuff like Meguiars Hybrid ceramic in the blue bottle for $12 on everything from the bathroom shower tiles to the lawn mower because its makes things so easy to clean and it lasts a couple months. Its like discovering Rain-X for the first time LOL

my parents used to have a b6 passat estate in the same spec as this one. it had rust under the rear boot handle and on the passenger front and rear wings. was a good car though, but needed a lot of work doing on it including injector replacement. got rid of it due to a burning smell that was coming thru the vents and was told by mechanic it needed a new turbo or engine (cant' remember which).

Matt, a money saving tip from a subscriber. Before you scrap any cars off. If it has a good parcel shelf, keep it for the next same make and model car that's traded in, if the car is in good condition for resale that is, that has its parcel shelf missing. That seems to be the case on many of your videos. Keeping the parcel shelf, could save you buying one for £40 off ebay. Just a tip and thought from me. 👍

I have a neglected (by previous owner) 2007 Toyota Avensis 1.8 petrol. Got to her just in time and put her right. 150000 miles now and is an excellent, reliable car. No warning lights. I had one of the late 90s Passat 1.9 tdi estate. At 210,000 miles swoped her for a Peugeot 406 2.0 hdi estate, only because I fancied a change. Finally sold her (brilliant car BTW. Beautiful car) again only because I fancied a change, at just over 200,000 miles. Cars were better made. Yes, less mod cons of course, but so much stronger.

One of these were my option over my XV30 Camry, but all of them here are 2 liter turbo with the DSG, so obviously massive bills attached regardless of the condition. Some of then have an 6spd Aisin, but the E888 with 15 years of abuse pulled me off completely.
