I USED TO STAND ON THE STRETFORD END AS A KID IN THE SEVENTIES ... AND IT WAS GREAT FUN ... A RIGHT GOOD ATMOSPHERE ... BUT I WAS ALWAYS JEALOUS OF THE KOP ! I THINK WE ALL WERE SECRETLY ! LOL ! 😆 RESPECT ! 🙏
I remember those days like it was only yesterday standing in the middle with my gang of mates amongst gangs from every area of liverpool feeling safe amongst proud lads on the biggest and best terrace in english history 62 now the camradery was amazing and still is
As a kid I had an LP called The Kop Choir and this is the soundtrack. I used to wedge a speaker in an open top window and play football in the garden dreaming of playing for the reds.
Interesting that nobody misses a beat, everyone can sing with each other in perfect harmony. I say it's because they are standing so close to one another, they can just feel the energy from one another when to come in on the next beat. Premier League eventually ended terraces and so killed this type of atmosphere in the top division.
Around the minute mark, the tall blond lad in the centre was my best mate, Stephen Mutch from Speke. He was about 6ft 6in, so being only 5ft 8in ,i used to always stand in front of him in the kop so i could get a decent view. Can't see myself in the video though , try as i may. Used to cost 4 shillings (20p) to get in the kop in those days, brilliant times.
Wen I was watching this I thought to myself just imagine seeing urself in that stand from 1970 seeing urself in 2022 then I seen ur comment mate I hope u get to see urself I really do, godbless you, netty Lee,
First time i stood on The Kop was a game against Arsenal in 1974 if i remember right was a night match , We won 1-0 a screamer from Ian Callaghan. My older brother took me , id just turned 13 ad was night before we had to go back to school after summer holiday. I watched the crowd as much as i watched the match. My brother is probably in that crowd somewhere YNWA
The one I remember best (from the '70s as a teenager) was 'We're forever blowing bubbles, pretty bubbles in the air, they fly so high, they reach the sky, like West Ham they fade and die. Tottenhams always running, Chelseas running too, but if you come to Anfield, well be running after you!' :)
GetWrecked Channel no running now in football and people get nicked because some tourist will be videoing it. Also the tourists won’t understand the song
Nah this is another one. Pink Floyd did their own recording of the Liverpool Kop around the same time time (1971) but this is from an entire recording called The Kop Choir.
Like a lot of other 70s kids I worshiped LFC and got this album on a family holiday to Torbay of all places. I used to lay on the settee and listen to it. Games that blasted through on our hifi in particular was LFC v CSKA. In later years I met both Souness and Craig Johnston in the streets around Boro. Anyway nostalgia brought me here as a few years ago I gifted the album to a supporter who was collecting the milk money. I support Stockton Town now so I suppose the wonder years are over but we did get to Wembley last year. All the best. ( non league buffs search for Stockton Town -On Their Way to Wembley.
Respect from An INTERNAZIONALE OF milan fan! Love Liverpool fc
