The most popular chess streamer GothamChess (IM Levy Rozman) played online chess with the Legendary Russian Grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi. It turned out to be a very spectacular game!

@@sterey3571 HAHAHHAHAHAHA
fucking psychology
I read this as Chromosomes extended 🤣
Levy's reaction when he discovers who it is he has just defeated is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
Translated Ian's phrases about the game and Levi. (I removed the moments when he thinks out loud about the moves).
“Oh, Levi Rozman. He's almost a grandmaster, isn't he? A famous chess player, probably the most famous chess player now. Not like us. “ (Ian sneers and trolls, but without malice)
"e5, c5? What is he usually plays? ”
Yawning
"g6? I don't know this move."
After E5. "Yes, I probably shouldn't have done that, I let him develop pieces and improve his position.
“Bishop C2? Looks like I won't be able to save this game, it's already clear. ”
"I'll make a Bishop d1 move. I don't want to give up yet. "
"I really don't want to resign, but I guess I'll have to " (Visibly upset )
"Let's go knight to b7. At least we won't suffer for free."
"Well, it turns out the chess players of different classes have met. It's hard to beat him. " (Ironizes at his bad game)
After rook b2. "Okay, now I should be in a better position." (Cheered up)
After g4 immediately realized the mistake. “Blunder rook b4 .” (Shakes his head) " Oh, my God. I have no words for it."
" Instead of an easily won game, now it's going to be a hard one. Why did I do all this?"
"What the hell is going on? But still, we have an equal position... That's dumb." (Talking about his game)
After king g7. "Okay, it's important to get out of a fork, even future grandmaster Levi Rozman would agree". (Making fun of himself rather than Levi.)
After losing a pawn on H2. " What an annoying guy. "
"He certainly plays this game brilliantly. If I lose, I won't be surprised".
"I'd hate to do it, but I guess I'm gonna lose. Jeez, what's going on?"
"The guy easily out-blitzed me. So effortless."
After the game.
"Is it me that bad, or is he that brilliant?"
" At some point he started playing really well. Or perhaps I'm just out of shape. Maybe it's both. "
"There's a lot of shame, isn't there?"
After analyzing the game and seeing all mistakes. "Yeah, it's such a historic shame. That happens."
"Losing to an amateur is frustrating, what can I say." ( It sounds a little less rude in Russian. As an amateur, anyone for whom sport is not their main occupation. We usually use the word “dilettante” for a insult. But if you want, amateur can also be used as an insult in this context.)
thanks!
Appreciate it

@@syed7110 He accused Danya for cheating in the blitz next he is coming for levy
Im stunned he hasn't gone after levy, honestly. He plays online blitz at easily a gm level
Levy would be gm overnight if he could somehow not see who he was playing over the board
just play blindfolded lol
It takes years to become a gm. Levy doesn't have a single gm norm and is miles off becoming one.
The caro player is always enlightened when they go sicilian 😆

8:38 Levy becomes the Joker
You can see on Nepos face how annoyed he was 😂 especially cuz it's levy
I sent the video to my online friend (who hails from Russia) and he said Nepo's reaction was like, a disguisedly angry rant of "wondering if Levy started playing better at some point in the game"
@@stallsunguy3064 that is so out of context
why do alot of Gm players downgrade levy?
@@user-sz5rk3iq6q because they're GM and he isn't?
@stallsunguy3064 absolutely not true, Nepo is usually very humble, in this game he was annoyed at his blunders but he never implied any foul play from Levy and called him "future grandmaster", so he believes in Levy's ability, though it's obvious that Nepo was playing not his best that game
nepo got levied
he was gothamed
he was chessed by gotham

underrated comment...
Levi needs a facemask now. He'll be unstoppable.
Levy is closer to Magnus than you are to him
Levy always has the same reaction when he beats one of the big guys! LOL 😂 I'm so proud of him. 🕺🏻
It seems like Levy's biggest strength in Blitz and Bullet is that his game doesn't seem to suffer nearly as much as most when he's under 10 seconds. He's worse under such constraints, of course, but he seems to be less worse than most everyone else. If there was some way he could translate that to OTB...
His peak Bullet rating is 3000+. Really serves him well in these time scrambles. Unfortunately it's kinda the opposite skill to deep calculation.
Bro has beaten 4 top playeras and Hans Niemann
Thank you for separating those
Levi's reaction is gold!
Levy chrome extension is NO.1 world champion.
Ian rocking the tide hunter shirt 😂
That's really old shirt from times when Dota 2 was officially beta. For those who don't know, he's actually was really good dota player back in the days, even won a decent tournament around 2012 (I forgot exact tournament, but there was current TI champion NAVI), and is still well known in east european comunity as Frostnova. Also lots of dota players tried chess because of him

"The most popular chess streamer" Quite a praise that is
that's crazy listening this knowing both russian and english lol
Вот тоже забавно, и одного понимаешь и другого тоже
Not only he beat nepo, but he got his 2800 elo back as well. What a legend
goes to show that some barriers are just psychological
Not knowing who your opponent is really does change your play
Btw during the stream Nepo called Levy future grandmaster
Next step just blindfold and earplugs for OTB games so you never know who you're playing!
I sent the 8:11 timestamp of this video to my Russian online friend, he said Nepo's reaction was, like, a disguisedly-angry rant of "wondering whether Levy started playing better at some point in the game"
EDIT: More accurately, he first started wondering if Levy just played too well, then asked himself if he played poorly, concluded its probably both; later on got mildly frustrated ("losing to an amateur is pretty rough").
nah, he said that levy started playing really well at some point, than questioned that maybe it's just him being out of form and concluded it's probably both.
@@RogueEva mightve been that way too, the guy I sent the video to doesn't play chess so he went off of just the language /shrug

Nepo looks legitimately shocked. Not even angry or annoyed 😂
Proud of Levy
Bro casually played an immortal game
Nepo was saying at 8:10 "at some point he started playing better than he was playing before (in that game)", indirectly alleging to Gotham of using a stockfish midgame. Do we have a Kramnik regen ladies and gentlemen?
Mind you he already alleged Danya was cheating too. Is there a single ru GM that can accept a defeat in chess without accusing their opponent is the question.
It was not implied in that way at all, you're just a typical russophobe hearing things that you want to hear
А вторую часть про «или я просто не в форме» ты, наверное, случайно упустил
It also could be a valid observation considering Levy’s admission that he did know how to play that opening
@@GloopusIncI’ve heard enough passive aggressive whining from him, these excuses are pathetic. Imagine losing to a RUclips IM and indirectly accusing him of cheating.

Levy the super GM hunter
Levy OP!! great vid as always! 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
This game proves again that the only thing between Levi and a GM title is Levy's mindset, he's got the skills there is no doubt about it. Against Gm Levy loses most games before the game even starts
Whats levy’s chrome extension
thats the problem against levy, you know if you lose he will roast you in front of millions of people. Extra mental pressure
tHATS A TIDE HUNTER SHIRT.
Your trading style is very unique and effective, I'm looking forward to implementing it myself
"KRAMNIK NEED TO KNOW YOUR LOCATIONS"
love the Tidehunter shirt on Ian lol
There is zero percent chance he wins if he knows who he is playing, bro’s biggest weakness is his own head
Levy are making a lot of progress ❤
I don't speak Russian but I'm guessing 7:18 roughly translates to "Throw, Levy!"
2:53 ? You have two minor pieces and a queen babysitting that pawn so how is it good? Can someone explain it to me?
Qb2 is poweful attack, and after that you can push this pawn forward very fast
@@RakNeubienniy ok, but all white's pieces are there and can pile up on that pawn if he wants and if he does push it, you just take with bishop? I don't know. I suck at chess.

GM Levy
Levy is the man :)
Levy proving why he is 🐐
Hikaru was right, the only reason why levy wont become grand master is psychological. If he knows its nepo there's no eay he would win or even draw.
Can anyone please translate what Nepo said? I am very curious even though I can tell he is annoyed.
Just go to your settings and turn on translate Russian:English . It will give the option for English to Russian too obviously because levy is speaking English. It takes about a minute or so to start working, and the translations aren’t that great. But it’s better than a stick in the eye.
as a very avid (apparently) russian speaker, all that I’ve made out so far is that he didn’t know what to do against g6 by Levy
at the end he says "it's a shame to lose to an amateur" and "this is a historical shame" xd
@@glikolizno way he called levy amateur 😂
He was insinuating that Levy cheated, especially in the end. Overall, there were many disrespectful remarks towards him as well
